“Kendall is a superb, very reliable, pet-loving care-taker, who was excellent in looking after our three furry friends. She went beyond to take care of them and to make sure they were fed, clean, loved and cuddled. We absolutely recommend Kendall and would book her anytime again! Thank you so much for your great help!”

“Asher provided consistent updates and reached out with questions to ensure my cat was well taken care of. It was very comforting while I was traveling internationally for 10 days. I would absolutely love to book again with Asher in the future.”

About: With over 20 years of hands-on pet care experience, I provide compassionate, knowledgeable care tailored to each pet's unique needs. My experience includes everything from training and caring for energetic puppies to providing gentle support for senior pets and attentive care for animals with medical needs or illnesses. I understand that every pet has its own personality, routine, and comfort level, and I take the time to ensure they feel safe, loved, and cared for while you're away. Whether your pet needs playtime, patience, medication, or extra TLC, you can count on me to provide dependable, experienced care that gives you peace of mind. I currently work 12 hour shifts at the hospital from 7am to 7pm only 3 days a week. These days are typically Sunday-Tuesday as I make my own schedule. With having four days off, I will have plenty of time to play with your pups! I can board any time during the week, especially with my weekends being open. Your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. I provide a calm, clean, and pet-friendly environment where your furry family member can feel at ease. My apartment community features a secure dog park, plenty of sidewalks for daily walks, and beautiful natural areas for safe exploration and exercise. Whether your dog enjoys playtime or leisurely walks, they'll have plenty of opportunities to stay active. I also have a friendly, well-socialized cat who has been around dogs for most of his life and is comfortable sharing his space with respectful canine guests. I always introduce pets thoughtfully and monitor interactions to help ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable. When caring for pets in a client's home, I respect your pet's established routine and environment. I'll follow your care instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications, and any special requests, so your pet receives consistent, loving care while you're away.
“Allison was fantastic! Excellent communication, very flexible when our plans kept changing, and most of all, my cats absolutely loved her - even my very anxious kitty who takes daily oral medication. Will happily book her again, I highly recommend her!”

“Jake was incredible with my two cats while I was traveling for work. He was communicative, attentive, and sent thoughtful updates. I came home to two happy, relaxed cats and couldn’t recommend him more highly!”
“Keara is an absolutely fantastic sitter. She’s incredibly easy to work with and she’s a great communicator. She treats our fur baby as if he were one of her own. I can’t recommend her enough. You are the best, Keara!”

About: Hi! I’ve had dogs my entire life, and dog-sat and cared for many different dogs over the years. I will treat your pup like family. They will feel secure and safe and get a lot of attention and affection. I work from home full time and have a very flexible schedule between 8-5. In addition to a great walk, your fur-baby gets cuddles, play time, and loads of love. Your dog will never be left unattended or alone in a yard. In my house, your dog can sleep in the bed if they like (and you OK it). My own dog is a 9 year old trained therapy dog. She is calm, sweet, and gets along with all dogs both big and small, chill or playful. She'll be happy to share her home. I use positive reinforcement only.
“Heather sat for my cat Ivory in my home for 4 days while I was out of town. She is an excellent sitter and took very good care of Ivory. Heather fed Ivory, made sure she had plenty of water and cleaned her litter box as needed. She also spent much time playing with Ivory, which I know Ivory loves. Heather also helped with a minor flea problem Ivory is having. I highly recommend Heather and will book her again when needed.”
“Punctual through and responsive. Thank you so much. Angie is very shy. We are on extended stay and wasn’t expected. River is a great app. Maeghan was responsive. Thank you.”

“Leanna was excellent! She was very friendly, and immediately got along with my dog after they met. I needed Leanna to stop by 3x times a day, including one walk, and she was very prompt followed all the instructions I left for her. I appreciated all the picture updates I received, and I know my dog was well taken care of. Thanks Leanna!”

“Nicole was an amazing cat sitter to our senior cat Cayenne. He is 17 years old and never had a stranger look after him- she did a great job. Cayenne requires oral medication twice a day and is a picky eater and she handled both things perfectly. You can tell just from talking to her how much love for animals she has. She left very thorough Rover cards at each visit and also texted to check in with photos. It is always stressful to leave on a vacation with an elderly pet but we were able to relax knowing he was with Nicole. We will definitely be using her again!”

“Keila did such a wonderful job with our 95 lb jumpy/excited boxer the first time she watched him, we immediately booked her again for our next longer trip (10 days!) and am so glad we did. We felt really comfortable with her already, but every visit she did she sent photos and typically added funny notes and that made it even better. She spent a lot of time with him for drop ins and clearly gave him plenty of exercise. We will reach out to Keila and pray she’s available for all our future needs! Highly recommend.”

“Shauna was fantastic! She really set my mind at ease when taking care of Stella while I was away. She was always very prompt and caring. She even took the time to wash out her food bowls so I appreciated that also. I will definitely be asking her if she can pet sit again in the future!”

Just had Allison taking care of my kitties for the first time, and she was extremely responsive to my various requests and clearly very comfortable with the cats. She also sent photos, communicated well, and asked when she wasn’t sure about something, making me more confident. And the house did not smell like cats when I returned! Would definitely rebook with her when I am next in need of cat care.

Ashley was fantastic with my kitty! I really appreciate her last minute availability, flexibility, and her responsiveness. She really went the extra mile to make sure that my entitled kitty did not feel too lonely while we were out of town! Great service and definitely recommend Ashley to others looking for a sitter!

I needed a cat sitter last minute for 4th of July weekend, and luckily I found Morgan for drop-in visits. She was very sweet and accommodating, and took excellent care of my cats. She provided detailed updates, lots of photos, and took the time to play and interact with them. I trusted that my cats were in good hands with her. I’d recommend Morgan to anyone in need of a petsitter!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Herndon. On Rover:

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
