“Jennifer is so good with my dog, who is not easy, and she’s incredibly reliable and dependable. She has never missed a day, and if she’s going to be even a little late, she always communicates that to make sure I’m aware. She clearly loves dogs, and it shows in how she takes care of them. One of the other great things is that she will do things like bring in packages, roll my garbage can up, and little things like that that I’ve never even asked her to do, but it shows how thoughtful and conscientious she does that she just takes care of them. Absolutely the best care I’ve ever had for any pet”

“Christine came through for us with very short notice. Loved on our boys and took them for a walk. She is detailed oriented and asked a lot of questions when arriving at our home. I appreciated this as this was the first time we worked with her or that she had met our dogs. Thanks Christine!”

About: I have taken care of dogs since before I can remember! I grew up with my grandma’s chihuahua, Lucky, and our current dog Elsie, who is now 12 years old. Additionally I have frequently taken care of my neighbors pets as well. I am an animal and nature lover, and love spending time outdoors. I’ll be heading to graduate school in the fall, so this summer I will be very free to take care of your furry friends. Apart from an occasional family trip, I will be in the area and ready! Your pet's safety and happiness are my top priorities. I'm responsible, reliable, and attentive to your instructions and your pet's unique needs. In my home, pets enjoy a clean, calm environment with a securely fenced backyard for safe play and plenty of love and attention.

About: I’ve had and taken care of dogs and cats all my life. Friends and family have trusted me to help take care of their pets whenever they might be away or just need extra help. I love all animals and always do whatever to keep them healthy and happy I currently own my own detailing business, so I am available to set my own hours of work and when I have availability to care for pets. Mornings and evenings/nights are the most available times for me, but mid day if I have a break or if I know ahead of time enough to clear my schedule is also available. I live in a very mellow area with little car traffic. I have a 3 acre fenced yard with shade and lots of grass for pets to run around and relieve themselves whenever they like. Multiple litter boxes as well for cats. Anything any pet will need is available here

About: I’ve dog and cat sat for multiple houses throughout the years and I really enjoy it! I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life and feel really comfortable with any type of dog, cat, or pet. I’m a pretty gentle and caring person so I think the animals pick up on that and respond really well! I’m playful but gentle with pets. I want them to have fun while feeling comfortable. Having an owner leave for a few days is stressful on them so I try to distract by playing or walking them. My job is pretty flexible and I’m able to come by multiple times a day to check on your pet! I plan on doing pet sitting part time. I have another part time job, as well. I’m excited to meet your pets! I have a flexible schedule and am able to come by the house multiple times a day. My current job allows me to have this schedule! I have 2 dogs at home who are majorly spoiled! I usually walk or let them in the backyard, which I can do for your pets! I can also crate if that is what you do. I’m ready to adapt to whatever routine you and your pet have!
“Our pet Buddy takes time to meet new people. But when Buddy met Carl for the first time, he sniffed Carl and instantly connected with him and enjoyed Carl’s company. The next time we are in need of a pet sitter, we will definitely call Carl again.”
“Jake was incredible with my two cats while I was traveling for work. He was communicative, attentive, and sent thoughtful updates. I came home to two happy, relaxed cats and couldn’t recommend him more highly!”
“Jambaar was wonderful with our two cats! He took the time to get to know them as they were initially shy. He was timely, responsible, and gave prompt updates. I came home to happy cats. Will definitely rebook!”

“Amanda was fantastic! She dropped in to watch my cats while I was away for the weekend. She fed them and cleaned the litter box. She even left them a toy! Outstanding!”

“Alex was amazing! She quickly made friends with my cats, gave them lots of love and attention, and left my home and their litterbox tidy. My cats were relaxed and mellow when I got home as if I had never left them. At the end of each visit, Alex sent me a detailed report and lots of photos. She was punctual, followed care instructions precisely, and a joy to work with. I look forward to booking her again!”

“Brianna was very attentive to the needs of my pet, and I am quite pleased that I have chosen her. I will be definitely using her service in the future, and highly recommend her.”

About: I've spent my entire life surrounded by pets. At home, I have three cats (5 & 14 years old) and one dog (12 years old). From the age of 5, I have learned how to care for, engage with, and understand cats' and dogs' needs in my home. All my life, close extended family have also always had pets. I'm comfortable with dogs 100+ lbs as well as indoor/outdoor cats. Over the years, I've learned how to deal with delicate pet dynamics and even recently fostered a puppy. Neighbors and family friends have relied on my knowledge and experience over the years to care for their family pets while away or on vacation. I have experience with puppies, kittens, as well as older cats and dogs. I'm a UVA student home for the summer and am currently working part-time, although my hours are extremely flexible. I'm available for overnight stays any day of the week, not just weekends. I'm also prepared for very ealry morning or late night visits. Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
