About: Since I was little, dogs have always been part of my life. They’ve been with me through moves, college years, and even rescue adventures—and one very good girl even played matchmaker and helped me meet my husband. I know how hard it can be to be away from your pet, and how much anxiety it can cause for both dogs and their humans. That’s why I love sending frequent photo and video updates, so you always know your pup is happy, safe, and having a great time. I care for every dog as if they were my own, making sure they feel comfortable, loved, and right at home while their family is away. I’m a teacher, so I’m home early on weekdays and fully available on weekends. There is always someone at home, which means your dog will never be left alone for long periods. I also have very active kids (teenager) who love pets and happily provide extra snuggles and attention to the dogs we babysit. I’m a runner and know many great, safe trails around Reston and Herndon, perfect for walks and exercise. We also live near the Town Center, so there are plenty of fun, dog-friendly places for your pup to explore. Your dog will get a great mix of activity, companionship, and love while staying with us. I’m very active and physically strong, which allows me to safely walk and handle dogs of different sizes in our area. We have access to many beautiful trails nearby, perfect for safe and enriching walks. By default, we take dogs on three walks per day, but if your dog needs more frequent potty breaks or extra exercise, we’re more than happy to accommodate their routine. My husband is also home and helps with walks and care, so your dog will always have multiple attentive adults making sure they’re safe, loved, and well cared for. I live in an apartment surrounded by green spaces in a very pet-friendly neighborhood. Inside our home, there’s a cozy bed by a window with lots of activity—my dog Layla’s favorite spot to keep an eye on the neighborhood—and many dogs enjoy relaxing there too. Your dog will be in a calm, secure, and loving environment where they can truly feel at home.

About: I’ve had dogs my entire life and have been caring for dogs of all ages for over 12 years. I’ve always been passionate about animal care, especially dogs and cats, and have spent years learning about animal behavior. I previously had a Labrador named Remy, who was a beloved family dog. With him, I gained hands-on experience in obedience training and trick training. I’ve also assisted with service dog training, which strengthened my understanding of structure, consistency, and behavior shaping. My current dog is Rio, a Golden Retriever and my service dog. Caring for and training him has continued to deepen my experience and commitment to positive, reliable care. I offer drop-in visits, sitting, boarding, and walking/hiking services. I’m also comfortable administering medication for senior dogs and supporting a wide range of care needs. My goal is always to provide safe, attentive, and loving care so pets feel comfortable and happy while their owners are away. I am currently petsitting full time so your furry friend will have my undivided attention. We’ll start with a potty break, breakfast if needed, and some playtime or a walk. Throughout the day, there are plenty of potty breaks, supervised play, cuddle time, and lots of attention. In the evening, we’ll enjoy another walk or play session, dinner, and some relaxing time before bed. I have a fully fenced in yard and I live in a super walkable area for lots of enrichment walks. Pups are welcome on all furniture and I have a big supply of lick mats, puzzle toys, and flirt poles to occupy them during the day. I’m happy to crate your pup if needed.
“Nicole took good care of Penny! We appreciate the photos and the communication. Penny had so much fun she didn’t want to leave. I definitely recommend Nicole and will reach out to her in the future.”

“Jennifer hosted our dog for doggy daycare. He had an absolute blast and became best friends with her and her lovely dog Sunny. Jennifer sent cute pictures and great, detailed updates. Our dog can’t wait to return!”

About: I’ve had animals my entire life and before I move to the city, I grew up on a hobby farm. My first job was with my local humane society where I volunteered and worked for 5 years, with responsibilities including walking, medicating, basic grooming, training and temperament testing. I'm here because I love animals. I currently work from home business hours with flexible schedule. I moved back to the USA in 2022 after a 5 year hiatus, completing my masters in Singapore and the Philippines. My pets have always been my family. I can be flexible and meet most routines. My pet friendly neighborhood has facilities throughout to accommodate dogs and my unit is pet friendly (e.g. no poisonous plants, secured cabinets, no harmful chemicals, orderly and clean).
About: I treat every pet like family. I have experience caring for dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities, including puppies, senior pets, and those with special routines. I provide plenty of exercise, playtime, affection, and attention while keeping owners updated with photos and messages for peace of mind. My goal is to make every pet feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. My schedule is flexible and I can accommodate morning, afternoon, and evening visits depending on your pet’s needs. I’m also available on weekends and can adjust to different routines to make sure your pet stays comfortable and cared for. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet. I create a safe, calm, and loving environment where pets feel comfortable and cared for. I pay close attention to their needs, follow instructions carefully, and treat every pet like family. I also provide updates so you always know how your pet is doing.
About: I’ve been taking care of pets since I was a young child. My Bruno (12 lb Biewer Terrier) and my regular daycare friends will keep your pup company - as well as my two attentive and careful children (12 & 9). We will love your pet as if he/she is our own! As a teenager, I raised cockatiels and I volunteered for the Museum of Life and Sciences in Durham, NC taking care of exotic animals of all types and sizes. Now that we have a yard, I've been living my dream of having my own dog (5+ years). It turns out I am great with dogs! • I limit boarding to smaller dog breeds with the rare exception for daycare when I know the family and larger dog plays well. • I work from home, so I will be with them all day. • I have a large fenced-in backyard, where they can get their zoomies out, and go for potty breaks as needed. I go outside a lot, which brings them outside more too (they like to be wherever I am!) • If your dog likes car rides, let me know, he/she can come along for short errands and pickups to and from school. • I can watch other kinds of pets, as long as you can easily transport them to me: Birds, bunnies, etc. using my “cat” rate on Rover. Request a cat boarding and let me know about your pet. • I do not watch cats. We have allergies to them To get started, we will have a meet & greet over video or in person, and book from there. Please let me know: 1. Does your pup has any behavioral quirks to be aware? For example, he won't go potty unless he's on a walk. 2. Any special feeding instructions? 3. Any favorite games? Looking forward to meeting you! I work from home regular 9-5 hours. I take frequent breaks before, during, and after work to feed, potty and exercise our fur buddies. I'm here to let them in and out of our large backyard for frequent breaks and play time. I have a large fenced backyard, with pickets to keep smaller breeds safe. I'm constantly checking that the gates are closed. They can sleep anywhere in our house, and most are comfortable doing so without a crate. When the weather is nice, I'll work on our deck to give them more outside time (because let's face it... these velcro sweeties want to be wherever I am!)

Just let us know what type of level of care you would like for us to provide during their stay at Loki's Haven. There will be plenty of opportunities for play and fetch. We have a 10 years old and 8 years old who can play/help taking care of your pup.

“It was my first time dropping of my 14 week old Samoyed and I was so nervous! Tom is wonderful and very accommodating with the drop off/pick up times. More importantly, Enzo was a very happy camper and enjoyed his stay with Tom. Will definitely ask Tom to watch Enzo again!”

“Gunner had such a wonderful experience with Ksenia he can't wait to go back again. We had a meet and greet the day before and immediately felt comfortable with Ksenia and her husband. She asked detailed questions and took notes the whole time. She had another dog over in the afternoon and they played together until exhausted. You can trust Ksenia with your dog, he or she will be well taken care of.”

Erica was able to provide last minute doggie daycare for Scout without any issues. She was flexible, responsive, and clearly has a heart for caring for dogs. I had to adjust timings and our schedule with changes at work, and she was extremely accommodating and flexible. Would highly recommend her to look after your furry friend!

Kelsie has been an absolute gem of a dog sitter for our Juju 🐶 She’s always available whenever we need her, which gives us so much peace of mind. Juju genuinely loves going to her—he has the best time playing with her dog and even her two cats! It’s such a relief knowing he’s not just being watched, but actually having fun and being cared for like family. We’re so grateful to have found her. Highly recommend Kelsie to anyone looking for a reliable and loving pet sitter!

Deeksha was very sweet and patient with Kai. My dog is very shy, but he quickly felt comfortable around her. She also sent me many pictures of Kai as updates, which I really appreciated. Another thing I truly value about her is that she is punctual and always on time. My schedule is usually very busy, so I don’t have much time to waste. She even waited outside for me during pickups, which was incredibly helpful. I 1000% recommend her!

Lauren was great and communicative before actually meeting. This made drop-off easy, and she took great care of our little Moose with updates and pictures. Lauren was willing to drop off our dog at the end of the day, which helped since we had quite a busy day. I would definitely rebook with Lauren again in the future!

Diba is such a nurturing person to my WALL-E. The family opened their home up with great hospitality. She kept up with daily routines, photos and interaction throughout the day. I would recommend her to anyone looking for the best service needed for your fur baby! . Thank you so much Diba. WALL-E hope to see you in the future Quiana

Phobos had a great time at Jen’s! He loved playing in the backyard with his new buddy Henry, hanging out on the couch, and settling in for dinner. Jen took photos throughout his stay and was incredibly welcoming and kind to both Phobos and me. Thanks Jen, we’ll definitely be back!

Burrata stayed with Jessica today while my husband and I ran a race a couple hours away. She had such a great time! Jessica kept us updated with lots of pictures and Burrata got walks and treats and had fun! Jessica was wonderful and watched Burrata’s cues to go potty and she had no accidents which I really appreciate since she’s 5 months and still learning. I highly recommend Jessica and will definitely be using her in the future!

Nicole took great care of my dog and was very communicative when setting up booking and during his stay with her. My dog seemed to have a blast and had plenty of outdoor time and social interaction with Nicole and her animals; I know he loved all the attention! Will definitely consider Nicole’s services again in the future for my baby!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Herndon commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 5,152 sitters in Herndon, 87% respond to messages in under an hour.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
