“Boarded my cat, Lulu, with Samantha for a week and have nothing but good things to say! She took excellent care of her and was very responsive before, during, and at the time of pickup. She made sure Lulu was comfortable during her stay and provided plenty of updates throughout the week. Would absolutely book with Samantha again for any future boarding needs. Thanks again!!”

“Jeannette took good care of LuLu during the stay, and sent multiple pictures updates. I will definitely recommend and will book again if I need a sitter in the future! Thanks again Jeannette!”

“Sujan was amazing. Hands down the best dog sitter I've ever used! His home was set up phenomenally for the dogs, and his attention to detail around walks, water, food, etc was comprehensive and attentive. He even had a baby monitor on Alinea's sleeping crate! He kept me informed throughout our entire trip and was super responsive to any questions I had. I have no doubt Alinea was well-cared for -- she didn't want to get in the car to go home!”

“Highly Recommended! I couldn't be happier with the care Barfie received! Nalleli did an incredible job socializing him and kept me updated with daily photos and videos, which I truly appreciated. It was so clear he was happy, well-exercised, and loved—I'll definitely be booking again!”

“Melissa is wonderful! She treated Linus like her own. We didn’t worry at all about him while we were gone for 2 weeks. She is a great communicator and loves dogs. Highly recommend! Thanks Melissa!”

“As always my pugs had a great time with Lindsey! She is incredibly patient with their idiosyncrasies and general wackiness! When I ask them if they want to go see ms. Lindsey they both get excited and spin in circles to get in the car!”

“I'm soo happy I booked my pups with Guojin. My pups looked like they were cared for and having fun. I appreciate that and the massive amount of pictures that were shared with me. Thank you!!!”

“Kayla is the real deal. Amazing with my big baby doodle. You can tell she has great experience and a way with dogs. She’s super responsive and easy going. I can’t recommend her enough!”

“She is truly amazing. I've had many other dog sitters, but this is the first time I've seen my furry friends so happy. My furry friends seemed to immediately fall in love with her the moment they met her. Even though my dogs are abandoned dogs and are very scared. She was like a magician. Than you,Angelique!!”

“Fen received the best care while staying with Jennifer, her family, and their pupper Henry. Jennifer provided photos and updates throughout the weekend and always responded within minutes to my messages. Would love to have her care for our Fen again anytime!”

About: I've had a dog in my home my entire life, and am always the one my friends/family turn to if they need someone to look after their pets. I have also fostered multiple dogs with leash reactivity, and have had some 1-1 work with an R+ (positive reinforcement) trainer to ensure pups can have the best experience out and about in the world while still getting their sniffs and exercise in. I occasionally run outside so I can offer to run with your pup(s) 1-2 times a week if you'd like, and I live 5 minutes away from Baron Cameron park if you like for them to play with other pups during the day at a dog park as well. Or of course we can just snuggle most of the day while I work from home. Well either way there will be lots of snuggles and pets... My last dog passed away in 2025 after a year long battle with cancer, so I have no problem giving medicine and making sure we stay on a strict schedule with food/medicine if that is what your dog needs. I look forward to becoming your pup's new best friend! I work part-time from home. I'm available for day-sitting while you're at work or overnight boarding when you're out of town. I'm typically up by 7:30, have a fenced in backyard, go on walks/runs throughout the day and love going to the dog park if your pup enjoys it! I have a 6 foot fence in my backyard that your pup can play around in. Take 2-3 x 25 minute walks around the neighborhood throughout the day and can occasionally go for 30-60 minute jogs if your pup enjoys more exercise (1-2/week)

“We left our dog Marlo with Derek for the weekend and he was great! He definitely knows his way around dogs and provided us with updates and pics throughout the weekend!”

“It was my last min decision to take kids to crabbing past weekend. Hyoun was able to accept my dear Rolo even though it was such a short notice. Even though Rolo was such a picky eater she had extra magic under her sleeve to have him finish eating every meal. Definitely recommending her!!”

“Jane was very professional and loving in the care of Bambi and FayLynn. I was told ahead of time what I needed to bring. I was told that she used her food. I felt more comfortable with them using our own food. Less stress on them. Each day late in the afternoon I would receive an email about what they did that day along with pictures. It is so nice to have pictures, since I like taking them. Bambi and FayLynn were so happy to see us”

“Ali was wonderful with Penny, we received daily photos and communication for two weeks. Penny felt right at home, she looked happy, relaxed and well taken care of. Penny came home bathed and with a a sweet note and new toy. We have found Penny’s home away from home and will be rebooking soon. Highly recommend Ali to take care of your fur babies.”

“Rose was absolutely phenomenal! She cared for mocha as if he was her own dog. She goes above and beyond and I would absolutely recommend her to everyone I know. If you want someone to shower your furry friend with love and care, Rose is for you.”

“Eun has been great with our dog. She constantly sends pictures, which keeps our minds at ease, and it’s clear she genuinely cares. Our dog always seems happy and comfortable with her, and her communication is excellent. We really appreciate how reliable and attentive she is, and we’d definitely book with her again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Chantilly
I will be using Vivian’s stellar service again! I was nervous since I had never boarded my anxious pup with a stranger before and Vivian was so kind and affirming. She sent a ton of pics, videos and general updates, that I even shared with friends and family who could immediately tell (as could I) that my Roro was comfortable and well taken care of. She’s really everything a pet parent could ask for! And Biscotti is so cute and a sweet!

Our Labradoodle ( Chiki ) stayed with Poornima for over 2 weeks. She took care of Chiki really well. Our dog was really happy staying at her place. She took care of the Chiki like her own pet. She gave us timely updates everyday with videos and pictures. She fed our dog exactly like the way we do at our home. Chiki got her walks and playtime exactly like we did at our home. Our dog felt very homely at her place. The level of care was excellent. We will definitely use her services again.
My two sibling dogs so enjoyed staying with Hoa! As always, they got excited in the car knowing we were on our way. Hoa lets them run around and chase each other in her fenced back yard to their heart's content. Hoa provides toys, treats and interaction in a fun environment. Chewy and Reggie love "camp" at Hoa's house. I can travel in peace knowing they are safe and happy.

Our pup had an amazing experience with Julian and his family. They went above and beyond to make sure Goose was comfortable in their home. During the meet & greet, they welcomed our dog with homemade treats - this just shows the level of love and care they provide. After the positive meet & greet, Goose was wagging his tail and excited to be back at their house on drop-off day. Throughout the week, they provided photos of each daily activity and shared updates on how he was eating, sleeping, etc. - easing any and all concerns while leaving him in a new place. You can tell Julian and his family LOVE dogs and will go the extra mile to make your pup feel at home and cater to their needs. Our dog truly had his own vacation while we enjoyed ours! We will absolutely reach out again for our next trip and highly recommend Julian for any dog owner!

A few days into our planned two week trip to Scandinavia, we got a call from Joanna. She reported our dog behaving differently, and then a day later pooping with blood. She rushed Bluey to her closest vet, and our dog was diagnosed with pancreatitis, a potentially fatal condition for young dogs. Joanna took Bluey to the vet two more times and faithfully cleaned up after our dog who continued to have accidents in the house. She medicated Bluey as directed and was able to care for Bluey until we could find a city to cut our trip short and return home. We owe John and Joanna many thanks for caring for Bluey and potentially saving his life.

Anurag took wonderful care of my senior dog, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He and his wife were incredibly kind and provided the best possible care. It gave me real peace of mind knowing Vee was in such good hands. Anurag sent regular updates and photos, was always easy to communicate with, and clearly cared about making sure she was comfortable and happy. We just moved to the area and I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful home away from home for Vee.

Katherine did a good job caring for Winston. We needed to take a weekend trip on very short notice, and she was able to make the arrangement. Winston seemed to be comfortable with Katherine right away. She took hom out to play, and let him sleep in her bed. We will definitely have Katherine care for Winston again if the need arises.
Amy is wonderful pet sitter! My little dog has separation anxiety, Amy went extra mile to make him comfort. She handled him such a patience and genuine care. She is communicative with videos and updates, and attentive to details. Amy is affectionate to pets. I would certainly recommend her.
Samiha was wonderful! I have an aging dog whose anxiety and quirks have been getting worse, and I was nervous to leave him for over a week with someone new. I didn't know how to predict how he might act- and he did have his moments while I was gone, of being spicy or anxious or just plain odd. But Samiha was endlessly patient and careful and eager to understand whatever he was communicating or needing. You can't ask for more than that! She was very sweet to him, gave me tonnnns of updates and photos just like I asked for, and sent me home with a huge new toy that he'd fallen in love with! I'd definitely recommend her! :)

Bobbi-Joe has taken such good care of my dog like she was her own . She has shared photos and updates on Coco in such a loving , caring way which not only warmed my heart but also put me at ease while I was away knowing that my baby is in good hands . Coco looked very happy and comfortable in all the pictures . I will definitely work with her again going forward .

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
