We had a great experience with Rosemary! She came early so the dogs could warm up to her, which we really appreciated. She took amazing care of them while we were away and sent tons of pictures and updates, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was clear our dogs were comfortable and well loved. Highly recommend!

Kaitlin did a phenomenal job for us during a last minute overnight house sitting with our dog and cat! She was very professional and did everything the right way. She also was sure to send lots of pictures and updates. We appreciated the effort Kaitlin put into this and we felt very comfortable with her sitting in our home. We would definitely recommend her and will be booking with her again in the future.

Lorene was wonderful with my boys. She was conscientious about making sure they did not get into trouble while in the backyard as they like to hunt for critters. She said that both of them were perfect gentleman and wonderful Snugglers. They also were very easy when administering their eyedrop’s and other meds. So happy we found Lorene and will be using her again.

About: I’ve grown up in a home with multiple pets and have extensive experience caring for animals. Over the years, neighbors and friends have trusted me to care for their pets while they were away. I’m also a four-time foster parent with the Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA, where I’ve cared for animals in need and helped prepare them for adoption. I currently work full-time during the week, but I’m fully available on weekends to give your furry family my complete attention and care! I’m available anytime after 5:00 PM on Fridays through Sundays. I’m a true animal lover and will care for your furry family members as if they were my own. I prioritize being present and attentive to their needs, making sure they always feel safe and supported—wherever they are, I’m right there with them.

About: As a friendly cat-sitter for family friends around the area, and cat owner for years, I know the responsibilities of caring for one. These include changing the litter, understanding feeding schedules, playing, etc. I have taken care of cats from all stages of life! Additionally, I have taken care of friends’ dogs while they are out of town by feeding, walking, and playing with them! Your pet will be cared for like my own, and rest assured they will be loved, content, fed, and safe while you are gone! I am available for last-minute holiday visits! I’m currently a full time student and work a part time job as an intern at FCPS. I am fully available during the summer! Please message me, I am very flexible! I can assure you your dogs will stay active, fed, groomed, and cared for in every way! As far as cats I have one at home so I will adjust to the cats’ personality by giving them space if need be. Additionally, I will make sure they are clean, fed, and hydrated!

About: I always lead with patience and care. Animals are clear communicators and we just need to listen. I am medically trained (for humans primarily), but I know those skills and knowledge are highly transferable. I work primarily in a hospital. Even though my schedule is consistently changing, I have multiple days off during the week. This allows me to visit anytime throughout the days im off and leaves a lot of flexibility. Respect is key. Whether its for the pet or the home, I believe all things should be approached respectfully and mindfully. I am happy to follow whatever house rules or pet routines you may have.

Vinnie did a great job! He took care of my senior pup over the weekend while we were out of town. He dropped in 3 times a day, fed, and gave my boy his supplements/medication. Vinnie even hung around and kept my boy company after he ate, waiting for him to digest his food and then took him out again. A + service!

Christina (Mary) was amazing! She sent plenty of cute pics and updates daily. She took the dogs on several walks and also played with them in the local tennis courts fetching the tennis ball. My house was better than when I left it, she even washed the dishes in the dishwasher! I would give her 10 stars if I could. It’s hard leaving pups with a new person the first time but I was never worried.

Abbey did a great job house sitting for us. My dog is epileptic, so leaving her can be a bit stressful, but she took fantastic care of her and managed her medication perfectly. She sent regular pictures and updates and also left my home exactly as she found it. Stax was happy, relaxed, and clearly well-loved while we were gone. I'm happy to recommend Abbey to anyone looking for a reliable, attentive siitter, and I wont hesitate to book with her again.

We had an excellent experience and Tyler was amazing. This was the first time we had someone watch our dog in our home and Barley seemed very happy. She is very anxious when we leave and is reactive to thunder storms and dogs. We were gone a week and there were several storms and her walks took her past several dogs; Tyler handled everything extremely professionally and we came home to calm and happy pup (he left us some guidance for those times, which we will implement). He sent pictures and kept us informed on a daily basis. Tyler was very respectful of our house and we returned to it looking better than when we left. I highly recommend Tyler, without reservation. I look forward to having him watch Barley in the future. Thank you, Tyler - we greatly appreciate all you did for Barley; she misses you :).

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Truly Above and Beyond Care We cannot say enough amazing things about Jen! She went completely above and beyond while house sitting for our dogs, Ren and Quin. From the start, she was incredibly thorough, thoughtful, and attentive to detail. She didn’t just follow instructions — she truly cared about our dogs and their experience. She made sure to check them for ticks, kept us updated, and was very proactive in making sure they were safe and happy. What impressed us the most was her flexibility and dedication. When she realized that the dogs needed a few extra visits, she adjusted her schedule without hesitation. That level of attentiveness and willingness to adapt gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. But the biggest sign of how amazing she is? When we came home, Ren and Quin were happy, relaxed… and honestly didn’t even seem that excited to see us because they had such a great time with her! 😂 That says everything. Jen is someone who genuinely loves animals and treats them like her own, and it shows in every interaction. We feel incredibly lucky to have her as our neighbor and our dog sitter. We would 100% trust her again and recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional care.

Kathryn was such a gem!! She was incredibly responsive, super nice, and very patient with our anxious dog (and me lol as this was the first time we had left our dog with a rover over the weekend) she told me every time she went over and every time she left! She sent me 16 pictures of our fur babies over 3 nights and we enjoyed every single one! It made me feel like I could enjoy my trip knowing they were in great hands! Also my neighbors checked in a couple of time just to make sure everything was going well and my neighbor had nothing but nice things to say about Kathryn as well!

FAQs for House Sitting - Chantilly

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Chantilly on Rover is $42.18 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 9,921 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Chantilly. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Chantilly walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Chantilly maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Chantilly choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Chantilly. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
