“Laura is one of our go-to dog sitters. She is wonderful with Walter, our beagle mix and always pleasant to have around. She's efficient and prompt when responding to requests. We're glad we found her.”

“Maniyha was an absolutely wonderful dog sitter. She was extremely communicative and sent daily updates, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. My home was left spotless, and it was clear my dog was well cared for and loved. I truly appreciated her reliability, attention to detail, and consistent communication. I would absolutely trust Maniyha again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a responsible and thoughtful sitter.”

“We were delighted with the care Gabby provided for our 12year old dog and the care she took of our home. Responsive, communicative and reliable. Responded to our messages promptly and sent daily updates as we had requested. Will call on her again if needed.”

“My dog Mila has a new friend :) Molly took great care of her and my home! She asked good questions on our initial walkthrough, and sent frequent updates and photos. I would be happy to hire her again.”

“Melanie was a WONDERFUL sitter while we were on our family beach vacation. Keeping our dog safe and comfortable was her top priority! We will definitely have Melanie pet sit for us again! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!”

“My wife and I are extremely satisfied with the care Charlotte provided for our dog Teddy. From the moment we got home, we could tell how happy and well cared for he was. It really gave us peace of mind during our trip. Charlotte was punctual, attentive, and followed all of our instructions. We also really appreciated that she took the time to do a meet and greet beforehand to make sure we were a good fit. That meant a lot to us. During that conversation she learned about our travel destination and since she was familiar with the area, she went above and beyond by sharing helpful tips and a great list of places for us to check out. While we were away she sent us photos here and there, which made us feel even more comfortable knowing Teddy was in good hands. We truly feel like we didn’t just find a pet sitter, we made a new friend. Thank you Charlotte for taking such great care of Teddy. We would absolutely recommend her to family and friends.”

“Shamiso was great! She was communicative and my dog was very comfortable with her. She spent quality time with my anxious doggie and fed and walked him. Very grateful for her patience and gentleness with him.”

About: I've had lots of pets over the years and my life has been made a lot richer for having animals in it. I am very comfortable with the care of dogs, cats, birds and tortoises as these are the pets that I've had the most. I am familiar with the care of a puppies and have spent a long time volunteering with rescues. Dogs and cats that have special quirks or need additional care are welcome with me. I'm here to offer a loving and caring environment for all animals regardless of their issues or needs. I work from home and I'm really flexible so I can offer a lot of attention and focus to your pet's needs. Just let me know how I can help! I live in an apartment but there are green spaces on either side of the building where your dog can be taken out to relieve itself.
“Really appreciate Jared's attention to detail. Our pets have a somewhat complicated feeding schedule! Communication level was great and gave us peace of mind while we were away.”

“Monica did a great job with Lenny! She played with him outside and snuggled with him on the couch. He was happy and content when we came home, and we had peace of mind while we were out. We also appreciated that Monica came over for a meet and greet in advance. She was courteous and prompt. We would definitely hire Monica again!”

“Erin was great with Albert and easy to coordinate with. She came over a week before to meet Albert and walk with us and she was prompt and attentive when it was time for her to stay with him. The house was in great shape after she left and Albert was happy. Thanks again, Erin!”
“You will not find a better sitter than Christina. I have had probably 7 dog sitters over the past 5 years and she is hands down the best one. I always get so nervous leaving my dogs, but I hope we never lose Christina...I felt comfortable the entire time. She is incredibly friendly and personable, trustworthy, responsive, and went above and beyond in caring for our home and the dogs. She also helped us without a second thought when our travel plans changed. Our home was emmaculate when we returned and the dogs were actually waiting in her guest room when we got back 😂 I take this to mean they loved her. One of my dogs is very timid and she immediately attached to Christina and other dog took no time to start playing with her. Both signs that they loved her. They don't do that with other sitters. All to say, I can't recommend her enough. She is amazing and we are lucky to have met her! ❤️”

“Jocabet was exceptional! I cannot say enough good things about her. She was punctual, thoughtful and took great care of our dog, Teddie. She kept us updated throughout her stay at our house with lots of photos and videos and made sure Teddie was well exercised as she is an active breed and left the house very tidy and clean when I returned. We’d absolutely love to have Jocabet watch Teddie again! Thank you so much!”

“Cora was an excellent sitter that got Ozzy and Dee out for many walks. They loved her and she was attentive and an extremely good communicator which put our minds at ease. Definitely will look to book again and highly recommend to all pet owners!”

“Helen was phenomenal to work with. I was away for 10 days and she took care of my two cats and one dog. She always communicated and sent pictures and I felt that the crew was well taken care of. Thank you Helen for everything!”

“Aliyah went above and beyond in taking care of my cats. My youngest fur baby instantly warmed up to her, which is quite rare! Aliyah sent me lots of photos while I was away, easing my separation anxiety. Being away from my cats is never easy, but knowing they were in such great care with Aliyah made it so much better.”

“Gabz was a fantastic sitter for our senior cat. They were super communicative and diligently took great notes on his many medications. I cannot recommend Gabz enough for anything you need, including house sitting. Six stars!”

“Sebastian was a fabulous dog/house sitter. He took care of my two 80-pound golden retrievers for a week while I was away. They can be a lot, and he handled them beautifully. I have had a lot of different sitters and he checked all my boxes: He arrived when he said he would; he stayed at the house and never left them for too long; he reached out when he had a question about their water bowl system; most importantly, the dogs were happy and healthy when I got back and the house was perfect. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Silver Spring
This is our first experience with Liz (and with Rover!) and things could not have gone better. She was absolutely great. Our elderly cat was having GI issues and had just been diagnosed with an intestinal tumor the day before we left, so we were very nervous about leaving her. But Liz took such good care of her and our 3-year old canine. We will definitely be asking her to sit for us again.

Angela took great care of my dogs at the last minute and kept me updated the whole time with messages and photos. She was reliable, easy to communicate with, and made me feel completely comfortable knowing they were in good hands. I’d definitely book with her again!

We hired Lesly for a two week house sitting for our dog Junie. Since this was a long stay we needed someone that we felt we could trust and Lesly did a great job! She sent us photos almost everyday and was very fast with her communication. Despite the long stay our house was clean and organized when we returned. We would highly recommend Lesly for looking after your pets.

Nichole was absolutely amazing! She took excellent care of our energetic pup (and our house!) for us for 10 days. She shared lots of photos and updates and was attentive and observant enough to notice when something was off with our girl. Nichole was responsible, trustworthy, and reliable, and we would highly recommend her for anyone looking for an attentive and loving care provider. We loved, loved, loved having her - we’ve already booked her again for our next trip! Thanks, Nichole!

Dobby is generally anxious about meeting new people but he warmed up to Ixchel quickly. She managed his quirks and challenges well and without complaint. We returned home to a happy and healthy dog and a clean apartment. We would definitely book with Ixchel again!
Ben took great care of our dog, Banjo, while we were away on a long trip (almost 2 weeks). Coming home, the biggest relief was seeing Banjo happy, healthy, and in great spirits. It was clear he’d been well cared for. Ben made sure he was fed, walked, and had plenty of playtime and attention. He also took great care of our home by bringing in the mail and keeping an eye on everything while we were gone. We will definitely be using Ben again in the future. Highly recommend!

Chris was a great sitter for our two pups, taking particularly good care of them during a firework-heavy 4th of July holiday weekend. He was communicative, responsive to the pups’ needs and schedule, and also took good care of our house. Looking forward to having him watch Bentley and Simon again soon!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Silver Spring walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Silver Spring maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Silver Spring choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
