“Aliyah went above and beyond in taking care of my cats. My youngest fur baby instantly warmed up to her, which is quite rare! Aliyah sent me lots of photos while I was away, easing my separation anxiety. Being away from my cats is never easy, but knowing they were in such great care with Aliyah made it so much better.”

“Helene was great with our older poodles when we went away from Dec 30th-Jan 4th. Constantly was in communication with us on how they were doing and texting pictures. Will deff book again!”
“She was so nice and took great care of my dog. My dog sometimes is timid among strangers but Heidy made the experience much better and gave me peace of mind knowing he was in great hands. 🌸🌸 10/10 recommend.”

“It. was my first booking with Xena and had an amazing experience! She’s so friendly, knowledgeable, professional and my baby was comfortable around her. The minute they met he was all over her to play and was really worried that with his high energy it may be too much to handle. Xena was so patient and kind with him which gave me the peace of mind and will be booking again in the future.”

“June stayed with Kelly for 2 nights. Kelly sent lots of updates and pictures. She took great care of June, even when June was being a bit of a handful! We would book with Kelly again.”

“Jason did a great job taking care of our two greyhounds. One of them had an unexpected GI illness and he cooked them rice and cleaned up their accidents. We felt very comfortable knowing they were well cared for.”

“Monica is an amazing pet sitter. The dog was happy. The house was clean. She followed all the instructions provided. She was extremely communicative and sent tons of adorable pictures of our dog playing and snuggling. Our dog isn't the easiest and takes a while to warm up to new people. Monica did a great job gaining her trust and making sure they had a good week while we were away. I would highly recommend her and look forward to booking with her again.”

“Karachi was amazing! She was able to house sit for us on short notice after another sitter canceled, and not only took great care of our dog but left the house even cleaner than when we left. Highly recommended and would definitely book again!”

About: I have dogs of my own that I take on daily walks. I have two husky’s (11 and 6 yrs) and a pitbull I had for 13.5 yrs (she crossed the rainbow bridge). I enjoy going out for walks because I know it’s a dogs favorite time of the day. I’ve taken my friends and family’s dogs on walks while they’ve been out of town. I’m looking to walk dogs in the evening when I go for my afternoon walks around the neighborhood. There are times where I may have availability during the day as well. I’m flexible and will do my best to fit you into my schedule. I love dogs and I treat all dog as if they are my own. I’ll make sure to make them feel comfortable with me and give them the attention they need.
“Melissa was great with our dog! She was very responsive and reached out with photos and check-ins. She also left our home in great shape. We would love to have her watch Lolli again!”

“We were VERY pleased with Jony. It was a last minute booking for an unexpected trip. He came to meet our dog and go over house/animal instructions beforehand. When he stayed at our house he left it cleaner than when he arrived! He took excellent care of our 10 yr old rescue German Shepherd and our chinchilla. Communication was excellent. We will definitely book with him again.”

“Emily arrived on time and kept us posted on Stella while we were away. It was wonderful to have someone stay with Stella while we were away for the day. Stella can be a handful as she has lots of energy and we really appreciated Emily taking care of her.”

“Julianne was awesome staying with our fur babies! Our pup was clearly comfortable with her from the meet and greet and she made sure he got plenty of love while we were gone. She even braved the cold to get him a walk, which we know he appreciated (and we did too!). We really hope to have Julianne stay again!”

“Shakuntala spent a weekend in my house caring for my 2 cats and dog. She was wonderful! I was nervous to leave them all and asked for plenty of pictures and updates- and Shakuntala delivered! It was so reassuring to know what they were up to. I came home to a clean house and happy animals. I would definitely work with Shakuntala again!”
“Omar and Claudia were fantastic! Gizmo is easy going but Pepe is super hard to please, and they managed to gain his trust in no time. Omar and Claudia were punctual, professional, reliable and kind. They kept communicating with us throughout the sitting period and share photos and videos of our two boys. Their dedication to our dogs is greatly appreciated and we’ll definitely book them again soon. We really appreciate their dedication to make sure everything was perfect.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Kensington
Stephanie took great care of our dog and two kittens during a house sitting! She was super sweet, communicative, and as a pet parent herself she knew how to give them all the attention and affections they needed to make sure they are comfortable while we were away for a couple of nights. Highly recommend her.

David did a phenomenal job caring for my somewhat anxious dog. He clearly knew how to keep him relaxed while I was gone. David did a great job sending me pics while I was gone and my home was in better condition than when I left. 10 out of 10! I would definitely rehire David again.

Sharon was very responsive to a last-minute dog- and puppy-sitting service request and really saved our bacon! She took great care of our 10 week puppy who is still in the middle of house training — no accidents on her watch, for which I’m very grateful. We will be repeat customers for sure.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kensington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kensington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kensington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
