“Ashley was an awesome pet sitter and our pets loved her. She’s great with dogs and cats and knows how to adapt to different pet personalities very well! I highly recommend her.”

“Once again, we entrusted our energetic pooch, Truman, to Kevin's care, and once again, we couldn't be happier! Kevin's professionalism, patience, and genuine dedication to Truman shone through, just like the first time. Despite Truman's slight behavioral quirks, Kevin expertly managed him, ensuring he received the exercise and attention he needed. Returning home to find Truman relaxed and content speaks volumes about Kevin's dedication and skill as a pet sitter. Regular updates and photos kept us reassured throughout our trip. We wholeheartedly recommend Kevin to anyone seeking a reliable and caring pet sitter. Thanks, Kevin, for another fantastic experience!”

“Helene has taken great care of our two high energy dogs during both house sittings we’ve had with her. She is very responsive, helpful, and caring. We are so thankful to have her as a dog sitter!”

“It. was my first booking with Xena and had an amazing experience! She’s so friendly, knowledgeable, professional and my baby was comfortable around her. The minute they met he was all over her to play and was really worried that with his high energy it may be too much to handle. Xena was so patient and kind with him which gave me the peace of mind and will be booking again in the future.”

“Vanessa did a fantastic job taking care of our corgi. She followed all of our instructions closely and went above and beyond to make sure our dog was safe, healthy and very happy. Our pup immediately felt comfortable with Vanessa and she also took good care of our house. We fully recommend her as a dog and house sitter.”

“Scott did an excellent job caring for our dog! Communication was prompt, clear, and detailed. He spent a valuable hour walking, feeding, and playing with her so we could enjoy an afternoon away. Would 100% hire Scott again.”

“Monica is an amazing pet sitter. The dog was happy. The house was clean. She followed all the instructions provided. She was extremely communicative and sent tons of adorable pictures of our dog playing and snuggling. Our dog isn't the easiest and takes a while to warm up to new people. Monica did a great job gaining her trust and making sure they had a good week while we were away. I would highly recommend her and look forward to booking with her again.”

“Riku loves his walks with Aaliyah and I loved the regular updates I got throughout the weekend. She handled him well when he got nippy and followed all the instructions I gave. She’s wonderful!”

“Jason did a great job housesitting for us and watching our dog. He reached out a ton with pictures and updates so we knew our dog was doing well. Our flight was delayed and he was flexible adding on extra time so we knew that if we ended up delayed again, our dog would be safe. Thanks Jason!”

About: I’ve helped walk and play with dogs at a local dog shelter and also watch my friend’s dogs, including walking and sitting two dogs at a time. I work remote, Tuesday to Friday, and my job isn’t very busy so I have plenty of time on my hands to walk dogs anytime time during the weekdays. Weekends are also flexible too. When I care for dogs in my friend’s homes, they have fenced in backyards for them to run around in but I also walk them in the neighborhood and on trails.
“Gio is absolutely wonderful. She takes Daphne and Samson out every week and also stayed with them this weekend while I was away, and I cannot say enough good things about her. She is incredibly kind, dependable, communicative, and genuinely cares about them. I came home to two very happy, relaxed dogs who had clearly been loved and spoiled all weekend. Daphne and Samson both adore her, and I always feel comfortable knowing they’re in her care. I’m so grateful to have found Gio and would absolutely recommend her!”

“Julianne was great with our dog Marcy. Marcy is not used to being away from us so she was shy and sad. But it was clear that she felt comfortable with Julianne and was well taken care of. Julianne stayed at our house and kept everything tidy, and even fed my fish. She gave us just enough updates so that we could enjoy our vacation without worrying about Marcy. We would definitely hire her again!”

“Malek was amazing! Both Xochi and Vinny were well taken care of and the house was left behind immaculate! Xochi and Vinny have found their go to dog sitter, highly recommend!”

About: I'm a dog-mom of a pup named Bear! I absolutely adore my dog and would share my love with your furry-friend! I've had Bear since he was a puppy and he's now 4. So, I know first hand the level of care needed for puppies and teen dogs. I'm comfortable with cats as well! I've been around kittens and cats for most of my life through many of my friends. “Virginia recently spent the week with our dog and cat, both of whom are elderly. She stayed in touch with us throughout our trip to let us know how they were doing, working with us to adjust their meal plan. She went the extra mile to make sure they were comfortable and happy, which we really appreciated given that they’re not used to us traveling. I would definitely book Virginia again to pet sit and look after them!”

“Omar was a house sitter for our dog and cat on relatively short notice due to a sudden death of a close relative. Omar was flexible and communicated very well with us. We greatly appreciated the morning and evening pictures of both pets. Highly recommended and we will be a repeat customer.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Wheaton-Glenmont
We had a great experience and would definitely use her again! She took wonderful care of our dogs and our home while we were away. She was very polite, communicative, and thoughtful throughout our trip. She also checked in multiple times to see if there was anything else we needed her to take care of while we were gone. We didn’t end up needing anything additional, but we really appreciated her offering and knowing she was happy to help. We came home to happy dogs and a well-cared-for home. Highly recommend!

Miranda did a wonderful job taking care of my dog! He is an elderly dog with health issues who needs to receive multiple medicines multiple times a day, and she handled it so well and made my dog feel safe, loved, and cared for while I was away. I am very grateful for that and highly recommend her!

Gio is absolutely wonderful. Sam is an outstanding dog-sitter! He had great communication before and during the sit - he sent photo updates multiple times each day we were away. He took the dogs on lovely walks and had nice playtimes with them. He left the house nice and clean for when we arrived back and the dogs were all so happy and well looked after. I would definitely recommend and we hope to have Sam sit for us again in future.

Melanie was such a trooper! Three kitties, two with pills, and a cancelled flight return/emergency extra day. That's a lot to juggle and she managed beautifully. All three kitties loved her and were clearly happy and healthy in the great pics that she sent regularly. Highly recommend!

Maria stayed with our two elderly dogs while we were on vacation and took great care of them. They were obviously excited to see her, and she was careful to follow all eye drop and medication instructions, even when one of our dogs was not very cooperative. Maria communicated very clearly and often with us, making us feel comfortable that the dogs were well cared for and that we knew how they were doing. She also was very respectful of our house and even watered plants without being asked!

Jason was great - clearly a dog lover. He was open for being a bit of a test run for Artie staying somewhere overnight that wasn't our house for the first time. He was very communicative, and even drove Artie back to us when we got home a little later than we were expecting.

Brittany was great! She house sat for us and took great care of our dogs for a week while we were on vacation. She followed all our directions, made sure our 2 dogs were well cared for and happy during our trip, and kept us well updated. Brittany can be relied upon to care for your pets for extended periods of time and we will definitely be using Brittany again in the future. Thank you Brittany!

Emma did a wonderful job of caring for our silly Lab. She sent us photos of a happy dog, which was comforting. Emma played with our dog and took here out for the exercise which is so important for dog's health. When we returned, our furry girl was happy. Emma also left our home as it was when we left. I would not hesitate to have Emma care for our dog when again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wheaton-Glenmont walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wheaton-Glenmont maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wheaton-Glenmont choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
