“This was our first Rover experience and our sitter did not disappoint. Xena was wonderful with our husky. She was punctual and communicative throughout the evening. We look forward to having her return for our next event.”

“I simply cannot express the relief I had while traveling with Vanessa as my house/pet sitter. I have 2 cats and was babysitting my daughters cat, who arrived the day I left. Vanessa sent pics everyday of the cats snuggled with her or chilling in their fav spots! My trip was very unexpected, and it was my first time using Rover. I’ve always wary booked Vanessa again for a trip I had planned and was going to take my cat to my daughters, but it was so much more relaxing for them here in their home❤️”

“Charlie house sat for us for a week. He took amazing care of our cat and dog. Charlie was very professional and an excellent communicator. When we got home, the pets were happy and the house was immaculate. I highly recommend Charlie for pet sitting. We'll be using his services again!”

“Jason was a fantastic sitter for our 2 dogs! He came through for us on a last minute request for house sitting after a previous sitter canceled on right before our trip. I have 2 herding breed dogs so they are hyper and can be a handful, especially our 8 month old puppy, but Jason handled everything like a champ. He was amazing with communication, kept us updated with notes and pictures, and most importantly took great care of my dogs. I would absolutely recommend Jason and will contact him again in the future.”

About: Hello! My name is Sylvia. I have several years of experience pet sitting dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits, although I’m open to all kinds of animals. Since my family does not currently have an animal to keep us company, I jump at every opportunity to walk, feed, and spend time with any pet. I am currently home for the summer, so I’ll have plenty of time to play! I am also babysitting on the side, but my hours are very flexible. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize making sure the dogs feel safe and comfortable with plenty of attention and exercise while the owners are away. I understand every pet has unique habits and personality, so I try to stick to the routine they know.
“Jennifer was so wonderful with my little dog Harry! She adapted to all his little quirks and habits and we felt he was totally safe and able to enjoy our trip. She was also very respectful of our house and everything is in great shape. We are so glad to have found her and can’t wait for her next visit! Thank you so much Jennifer!!”

“Riku loves his walks with Aaliyah and I loved the regular updates I got throughout the weekend. She handled him well when he got nippy and followed all the instructions I gave. She’s wonderful!”

“Rachel is, indeed, very energetic & outgoing. I was delighted to see how friendly my dog felt towards her after our trip was over. He (& I) will definitely request her again for another trip. My cats are not as easily won over but she managed to help them feel better thru their huge separation anxiety & they were doing well when we returned home. Rachel was terrific about communicating with me thru out & sending photos.”

“Tabatha was fantastic! I had to go out of town to deal with sick family, and needed to not worry about my pets. Tabatha made everything so easy and took great care of my dog and cat. Will definitely be booking with her again.”

“Ana G. was wonderful with Ollie, who has severe separation anxiety. She played with him on the floor, which he loves to do. After playing, Ollie was tired, and decided to snuggle with Ana. I think it was a really good experience for Ollie and me. I would definitely request Ana G. again.”

“Helena continues to be a blessing for us. This is now our 4th time booking her to stay at our house (cat & dog) while we travel and our 4th time leaving her a 5-star review. Excellent communication before and during the trip; absolutely loved by our pets; and completely comfortable having her stay in our home while we're gone with full confidence that everything will be taken care of as if it were her own. All instructions for care were followed and she will message if there is any question needing confirmation. You really can't do any better than booking with her.”

I also remotely during the week and can usually provide drop in services for clients near my home. For drop in services your home and your pets will be treated with the utmost care and attention, and I’ll provide multiple photos to you promptly.
About: What sets me apart from other sitters is my extensive experience caring for senior dogs, including my own 13-year-old companion, Angel. She’s a wonderful example of how older pets can still be energetic and joyful with the right care and attention. I understand the unique needs of senior animals, such as gentle exercise, medication management, and extra patience. Additionally, I’m skilled at adapting activities to suit each pet’s age and personality, whether it’s training puppies or providing comfort to older pets. My compassionate approach ensures every pet feels safe, loved, and engaged, no matter their stage of life. I work part time so i’m just down to do this whenever I am free . THE MORE BABIES THE BETTER , I have a semi flexible schedule I have a fenced yard and I can care for your baby almost as well as you can IF YOU LET ME GIMME THE FUR BABIESSSSS
About: I have been a pet owner for over 6 years now, and a pet lover since the day I was born. My dog at home is a pug that I adopted when he was just a puppy, so I've trained him and taken care of al his needs ever since. I have also dog-sitted for friends and family over the years, taking care of their pets while they were away. I love all my furry friends and would treat any of them with all the care I would my own! I am currently working a part-time job, so I'll have days throughout the week where i am fully available along with some days where my availability may start in the afternoon. I will be fully available on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. And I will be available starting at 4:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In my home, I have a fenced yard that's very large and spacious where my dog can roam freely and play. I also have a range of dog toys for him to play with and a medium sized crate that he can rest in. In someone else's home, I would make sure to make myself aware of all areas accessible to any pets and make sure they're secure and I can keep an eye on them. If there are toys available I could use those to play with the pets, and if not I have no problem bringing some with me as well.
“Omar and Claudia were wonderful taking care of my two dogs and house while I was away. Frequent updates and pictures of the them enjoying themselves and happy were very much appreciated and comforting. Would highly recommend!”

“Malek took care of our anxious dog during an extended trip out of state. He made a very good contact with our dog and kept me informed about how they were doing. Malek stayed at our house during the sit. Overall, I had peace of mind while traveling and I highly recommend Malek.”

Betzabe is a fabulous pet sitter. She gives updates and photos every time she visits. She gave personalized attention including food, walks and playtime to my two little poodle mixes. Even my high anxiety and particular dog loves when Betzabe comes. I highly recommend her as a pet sitter.
I cannot say enough good things about Alexandra! She was on time every time, gave extra time and attention, and really went the extra mile for my three dogs. She was an excellent communicator when my dog didn’t want to take his meds and problem solved through it. Would 100% hire her again.

Stephanie took great care of our dog and two kittens during a house sitting! She was super sweet, communicative, and as a pet parent herself she knew how to give them all the attention and affections they needed to make sure they are comfortable while we were away for a couple of nights. Highly recommend her.

Erin house sat with our three dogs, cat and two parakeets for a week. She came over for an additional meet and greet to talk to our daughter about her cat’s special needs. Erin walked all the dogs, played with the cat and watered and fed the parakeets. We felt good knowing she was taking care of all our pets and managing other things at the house. We will definitely have Erin help us out again.

Karen was incredible with our 2 dogs. We are typically stressed traveling from bad experiences with rovers but Karen was really the best. Very communicative with tons of updates. She took amazing care of our boys and we will absolutely look to use her again in the future. Highly highly recommend.

Rachel is, indeed, very energetic & outgoing. I was delighted to see how friendly my dog felt towards her after our trip was over. He (& I) will definitely request her again for another trip. My cats are not as easily won over but she managed to help them feel better thru their huge separation anxiety & they were doing well when we returned home. Rachel was terrific about communicating with me thru out & sending photos.

Xena was great! We just moved into town and she made it so easy and stress free to know our fur kiddo was well taken care of when going out of town. She was forgiving of the chaos of our house due to the unpacking and was able to support Levi as a senior. Will be booking again when we need a dog sitter!

Zaena was a fantastic house sitter for my dog Maisy. It was Maisy’s first time with a house sitter and Zaena was great about Maisy’s medications, schedule, and behavioral quirks. She was very communicative and sent updates and pictures/videos daily. I look forward to having Zaena watch Maisy again.

Diana is absolutely amazing with dogs. We have a 3 month old puppy & one of us has always been with her. This was the first time we had to leave her alone & I was very anxious (even decided to stay home with our puppy). But from the moment our pup saw Diana she was all over her, snuggling up to her & licking her face. Diana sent us pix of our pup & her - & our puppy was fast asleep on Diana's lap. I totally recommend Diana - she's incredible with dogs.
Nothing but positive things to say about Casper! This was our first time trying a pet sitter (we usually board our dogs), and we could not have been happier. We received photos and a recap of the day, every day and the house was spotless when we returned. Knowing that our boys and our home was being looked after definitely made our vacation more relaxing. Thanks Casper!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Layhill on Rover is $40 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 11,495 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Layhill. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Layhill walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Layhill maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Layhill choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Layhill. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
