“It. was my first booking with Xena and had an amazing experience! She’s so friendly, knowledgeable, professional and my baby was comfortable around her. The minute they met he was all over her to play and was really worried that with his high energy it may be too much to handle. Xena was so patient and kind with him which gave me the peace of mind and will be booking again in the future.”

“Riku loves his walks with Aaliyah and I loved the regular updates I got throughout the weekend. She handled him well when he got nippy and followed all the instructions I gave. She’s wonderful!”

About: I’ve worked with pets for the past 3 years. I slowly started off by taking care of family’s pets, the eventually worked up to building my own personal clientele and currently work for a pet care company called, Baby got bark. Through the years I’ve had the privilege of meeting a variety of pets of all kind from the small to big. I also had my own two kitties for the past decade who I completely love with all my heart. Currently, I’m working part time so I have spare time in the mornings before 12 and in the evenings after 5 pm. I’m not attending school at the moment either so I can devote my attention to pet care. I take care in reading and following instructions set by client’s for their pets. Dependent on the pet I work around their personality to see what they are and aren’t comfortable with as well.
“I simply cannot express the relief I had while traveling with Vanessa as my house/pet sitter. I have 2 cats and was babysitting my daughters cat, who arrived the day I left. Vanessa sent pics everyday of the cats snuggled with her or chilling in their fav spots! My trip was very unexpected, and it was my first time using Rover. I’ve always wary booked Vanessa again for a trip I had planned and was going to take my cat to my daughters, but it was so much more relaxing for them here in their home❤️”

“Jason was fabulous. Baloo loved him and was so comfortable with him right from the beginning. Jason kept us updated regularly on how Baloo was doing and we could tell he was well cared for and happy while we were away. We would happily ask Jason to watch Baloo again.”

“Jennifer really did a great job looking after our two younger dogs. She kept us informed and sent pictures. And was very thoughtful in making sure they were all set before she left. She stayed in our home and took good care of it as well. I will definitely recommend Jennifer.”

“Heidy took such good care of of our dog and cat while we were away. Our dog is anxious and does not like change and she was so happy being with Heidy, who stayed at our house to keep them company. We would definitely use Heidy again!”

“Where to begin! We hired Rachel to house sit for a week while we went on vacation. Rachel was just wonderful! This was my first time not only using Rover but also my first time seeking out a dog sitter for an extended period of time. I was nervous about how the process was going to go, however i had nothing to worry about. Rachel was very attentive with my boys and spent plenty of time hanging out with them and making sure that they had lots of cuddle and play time. She provided me multiple photos daily and kept me up to date with everything happening back home while i was away on my vacation. Because of that I was able to be relaxed and stress free knowing my boys were in great loving care with Rachel. We returned home and our home was cleaner than we left it! I will absolutely be hiring Rachel in the future for all of my needs (drop in visits and house sitting) Book with confidence knowing your pets are in good care under Rachel!!”

About: Ive taken care of a variety of dogs since the age of 16. When friends, family and neighbors went out of town, they relied on me. I've cared for dogs from ages of 10 months to 14 years old, dealing with potty training to strict medicine schedules and special diets. Im currently in training to be an EMT and work as a volunteer Sundays to Monday overnight. However, the rest fo the week I am very flexible and am available most of the time. I also have my own mode of transportation I can stay in your home and provide whatever you need to allow me the privilege to look after your fur baby. I am willing to go through any background check or interview that will help establish my credibility.
About: I've had a houseful of pets my whole life and I've always loved animals. I've been pet sitting since I was a teenager, and I have volunteered at an animal shelter. I'm familiar with many aspects of pet care such as walking dogs, socializing cats, cleaning waste and messes, administering medication, and spoiling them of course! My goal is always the safety and comfort of all the pets I care for. I recently moved back to the DC area and have plenty of time to care for your pets while I continue my employment search. I am available from 9am to 6pm most days. I cannot currently offer in-home pet care. I am able to check in on your pets in your home. It is important to me to follow all instructions given by the pet owner and to ensure the best care possible.
“Julia was great with my pitbull. They had an instant connection and Chloe has a wonderful new friend! Julia was reliable, arrived early, had no drama and communication was immediate and clear. I will continue to call on her when she's available.”

“Micaela did a great job of caring for our two pups during an at-home stay! She handled each of their quirks and needs perfectly and provided lots of updates and photos. Our house also looked great when we returned. We are really appreciative of her level of care.”

“Helena’s communication with us was excellent and her patience with our slow to warm up dog was so appreciated. We knew our girls were in good hands while we were away.”

“This was Belarria’s first time with a pet sitter she didn’t know. Since I’m her primary person and she basically mopes when I’m gone, even if being looked after by someone she knows and loves, I didn’t have any expectation that she would become best pals or anything, and that was the case and is fine. But she warmed up to Omar quickly when I was there. And she felt secure enough with him to sleep in the bed when the fireworks were happening and take comfort from his presence. She did take treats and medicine (she broke a dew claw right before we went away) from him. I’m extremely happy with the care Omar provided and will be using his services again. Highly recommend.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Layhill South
Betzabe is a fabulous pet sitter. She gives updates and photos every time she visits. She gave personalized attention including food, walks and playtime to my two little poodle mixes. Even my high anxiety and particular dog loves when Betzabe comes. I highly recommend her as a pet sitter.
Stephanie took great care of our dog and two kittens during a house sitting! She was super sweet, communicative, and as a pet parent herself she knew how to give them all the attention and affections they needed to make sure they are comfortable while we were away for a couple of nights. Highly recommend her.

Erin house sat with our three dogs, cat and two parakeets for a week. She came over for an additional meet and greet to talk to our daughter about her cat’s special needs. Erin walked all the dogs, played with the cat and watered and fed the parakeets. We felt good knowing she was taking care of all our pets and managing other things at the house. We will definitely have Erin help us out again.

Karen was incredible with our 2 dogs. We are typically stressed traveling from bad experiences with rovers but Karen was really the best. Very communicative with tons of updates. She took amazing care of our boys and we will absolutely look to use her again in the future. Highly highly recommend.

Rachel is, indeed, very energetic & outgoing. I was delighted to see how friendly my dog felt towards her after our trip was over. He (& I) will definitely request her again for another trip. My cats are not as easily won over but she managed to help them feel better thru their huge separation anxiety & they were doing well when we returned home. Rachel was terrific about communicating with me thru out & sending photos.

Xena was great! We just moved into town and she made it so easy and stress free to know our fur kiddo was well taken care of when going out of town. She was forgiving of the chaos of our house due to the unpacking and was able to support Levi as a senior. Will be booking again when we need a dog sitter!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Layhill South on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 11,434 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Layhill South. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Layhill South walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Layhill South maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Layhill South choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
