“We had a great experience with Jordan! Jordan clearly took care to get to know each of our three cats and to make sure their different needs were taken care of. We really appreciated the great communication and the detailed updates and photos we got.”

“Jacqlyn and her dog Awoo are fantastic! They took excellent care of my home and my dog, Max. The place was spotless when I returned, and Max was happy, well-fed, and clearly loved. Awoo was a great playmate for Max, they are clearly best friends. Jacqlyn was communicative, reliable, and went above and beyond. Highly recommend her for all your pet-sitting services!”

“Valentina was thoughtful and caring while watching my dog and cat. She checked in regularly and kept me in the loop. My dog can be anxious and had some tummy trouble while with Valentina, but she kept in contact and was happy to give her some extra TLC to feel better.”

“Sharon was amazing. She sent pictures everyday and Post was very happy. She followed our instructions and exactly and was very flexible and understanding to Post’s needs. Highly recommend and will absolutely have Sharon watch him again.”

“Monica stayed with our two older dogs for a week. She did a great job caring for them and looking after the house. The house was clean and orderly when we arrived home. I would definitely ask her to pet sit again!”

“Great experience. Laura was perfectly on time, gave good feedback and asked questions as needed and left a clean house to return to! Our two 10 year old king charles spaniels were happy, healthy and content when we got back from Christmas vacation. We will definitely use Laura again.”

“Corie’s care of our four dogs and tortoises was excellent - she’s a compassionate, thoughtful petsitter who made sure that we were kept updated about our pets’ wellbeing throughout our time away from home. We look forward to having her take care of Bear, Louie, Gigi, CloClo and our tortoises in the future!”

“Jayne watched our two dogs for three nights while we were out of town. One of our dogs is anxious and takes some time to warm up to new people but Jayne didn’t bat an eye during the meet and greet. It’s clear she has experience handling a wide variety of temperaments and Winnie warmed up to her quickly. We came home to two very happy dogs and a clean house. Grateful to have found a trustworthy person who seems to enjoy connecting with a variety of doggy personalities.”

“Hannah took such good care of our dog Penny. She gave lots of updates while we were away and took great care of our home as well. Highly recommend Hannah for any of your pet care needs! We will definitely ask her to stay with Penny next time we need a sitter!”

“We had the pleasure of entrusting our pets, Moon, our 7-year-old golden retriever, and our two cats, to Nicole for two weeks while we were in France visiting family. Not only did she take care of our precious companions, but she also looked after our apartment. Nicole is a gentle, smiling, very attentive person who adapts easily. She has an exceptional rapport with animals and managed to establish a bond of trust with Moon and our cats from the very first day, as well as with us :). We particularly appreciated receiving regular photos and updates, which allowed us to leave with peace of mind. We highly recommend Nicole to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and reliable dog sitter to take care of their pets and home. A big thank you to Nicole for her dedication and excellent work! We highly recommend her! As far as we're concerned, we've found our gem! Caroline”

“Hello, Jocabet did an amazing job house sitting my fur babies! She is very attentive to their care and gave them an abundance of cuddles and snuggles. Her attention to detail during the meet and greet was impeccable! All my fur babies were sad to see her go! I recommend Jocabet hands down for any type of care you may need for your fur babies! Best, Kim”

“Janis was wonderful house sitting for our cat Toastie while we were away on vacation. She stopped by for a meet-and-greet before, and it took no time for Toastie to warm up to her. Janis was excellent with communication. During her stay, we received regular updates and pics to let us know everything was fine. Janis was also responsible and took very good care of Toastie. We will be happy to schedule her again!”

“Gabs did a great job with my pup, Lula Mae. Lu was well cared for and I got great communications & updates. Gabs also left our home spotless, which was much appreciated when I got home from my trip! We look forward to booking with Gabs again in future!”

“Lesley was amazing and took care of our anxious pup wonderfully. We had just lost our cat and the pup was a nervous wreck, and Lesley was able to care for her and keep her happy while we were away!”

“Meredith was terrific! One of our kitties had come home from the hospital the week before Meredith’s visit and required close care and medication four times a day. Meredith was patient and caring and took excellent care of our recovering kitty, along with our other cat and dog. The house was neat and clean when we got back. Meredith made it possible for us to go away and have an stress-free weekend. I highly recommend her and would be thrilled to have her back any time!”
“Katherine was great! She arrived on time and was understanding that Primmie is a little shy sometimes. She also went above and beyond by offering to wash the sheets and vacuum!!”

“Chistina was awesome. Our pug was well cared for and we received regular updates and pictures. We could tell Bella was happy (well, as happy as she can be without her hoomans). Highly recommend Christina for looking after your furry family members.”

Grace took great care of our two pups! We were in a pinch when our dog care fell through, but Grace jumped in to schedule a quick M&G before she stayed with Olive and Penny for the weekend. She sent a lot of updates, and left our house very tidy. Would definitely recommend!

Once again, Evelyn was amazing! She is such a caring person and does an incredible job of communicating with us and making sure our dog is taken care of. She's very respectful of our home, and our normally very anxious dog does amazing with her. Could not recommend Evelyn more!

Nina was amazing with our dog. She sent tons of pictures and provided updates. She followed all of our instructions and was very attentive from the moment we met her. She also left our home exactly how we left it after staying over to accommodate our dog. We would recommend Nina to anyone looking for a great sitter!

Katie is absolutely amazing!! She is a dog walker three times a week and she kept both our dog and cat for 9 days! I didn’t worry once. She treats our pets like her own and goes way above and beyond. She sends so many sweet updates and is super attentive to the pets needs. She communicates very well and is the best pet sitter I could ask for. I could not recommend her enough. We love Katie!!!!

Jordan was a fantastic in-home, overnight sitter for our dog, Lily, who fell in love with Jordan during our very first meet & greet! Jordan provided the most amazing end-of-day reports and sent plenty of photos during their long walks, of Lily eating her meals, and their cuddle time at night. Jordan is friendly, punctual, responsible and highly engaged. We were at ease during our trip knowing that she was back at the house taking care of our fur baby! Will absolutely use Jordan again! 5-stars!

Aaron & Paweena (Fah) were great substitute parents to our divas Cinder & Sable. They were very respectful of our home, sent photos and videos, and were so helpful when we got stuck for extra days out of the country due to an airline strike. This was the longest we’ve left the dogs and we were happy we found such a nice, responsible couple to care for them.
Rachel housesit and took care of our two young cats for the weekend. It was a short time, but Rachel was terrific. She was great at communication, took lots of cute pictures of the cats, and went the extra mile to do some household chores and clean up. The cats are in great shape. We hope to use her services again!

We were a bit nervous traveling out of the country for 9 days, leaving behind our rather anxious (and less-than-trusting) Xavier, along with our overly-zealous (and a bit needy) Barnaby, with a sitter they didnt really know, for the first time. Well...there was NO reason to be nervous. Betty was superb! She connected with the doggos right away, and they enjoyed all of her attention throughout the week. When we came home, the boys were happy & healthy & content. The house was in great shape. Betty went above-and-beyond, taking care of the home-front with professionalism and maturity, sharing regular communications & photos. Thank you Betty. We hope to see you again soon!

Monica did an amazing job taking care of our three dogs (one of which is a senior dog with health issues). Monica stopped by ahead of time to meet our dogs and get all of the necessary information; she is extremely professional and responsible. She clearly loves dogs and handled our three dogs with different food and walk requirements with ease. She also sent us cute photos of the dogs while we were gone. We felt very lucky to have her taking care of our dogs while we were away. We highly recommend Monica!
Alexandra was fantastic! She was incredibly flexible and accommodating on short notice, and we really appreciated how attentive she was to our pets. She sent us lots of pictures and updates to reassure us that everyone was doing well. We especially loved that she even played music for them when she wasn’t there.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Takoma Park on Rover is $57.75 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Takoma Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Takoma Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Takoma Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
