“Cora was an excellent sitter that got Ozzy and Dee out for many walks. They loved her and she was attentive and an extremely good communicator which put our minds at ease. Definitely will look to book again and highly recommend to all pet owners!”

“Really appreciate Jared's attention to detail. Our pets have a somewhat complicated feeding schedule! Communication level was great and gave us peace of mind while we were away.”

“Gabrielle made me feel so comfortable leaving my puppy alone for the first time over a long weekend! She sent frequent pictures and updates and was so sweet with him. I definitely recommend Gabrielle!”

“It was our first time working with MaNiyha, and we needed housesitting + care for two clingy dogs for a whole week. She was wonderful! She sent regular updates with photos, and we could see that the dogs really relaxed with her and trusted her. She even did some additional training with them and calmed them down during multiple thunderstorms! Plus, she left the house spotless. We look forward to working with MaNihya again in the future!”

“My dog Mila has a new friend :) Molly took great care of her and my home! She asked good questions on our initial walkthrough, and sent frequent updates and photos. I would be happy to hire her again.”

“Chinyere was great - she took excellent care of my cat and was very respectful in my home! She sent updates and followed all my instructions! Would absolutely rebook”

“John was fantastic! He was very attentive to the directions we gave him and made sure their routines were not disrupted. He also gave timely updates and has a knack for animal photography. John was also very responsive via text. Our dog and cat look forward to the next time my wife and I are out of town!”

“Emily was very responsible in caring for our difficult but beloved cat. When there was a problem, she let us know immediately, and was more than willing to try anything to help solve it. Giving him his medications proved to be impossible, but Emily persisted in taking good care of him. She obviously loves animals and is a mature young woman.”
“Amanda is so so great! She’s highly in tune with pups and cares for them so well. I received a perfect amount of updates with some very cute photos and am so appreciative of her care!”

“Jocabet is a life saver! I just got a puppy and had a set sitter but they canceled last minute. This was my first time using the app and she was so responsive and helpful! She is very kind and my puppy enjoyed interacting with her. Will definitely be booking her in the future.”

“Mark went above and beyond, not just walking and caring for my dog, but taking him for road trips around the area during a weeklong stay. Watching him and my dog interact, it’s clear that my dog really liked him and that Mark combined gentle caring with firm direction in an optimal way. Mark also left my house cleaner than he found it, which was a nice bonus. Would wholly recommend Mark if you need a safe set of hands to dog/house sit.”

“Kymberlee is very responsible and professional. She housesat for me and looked after my dog over the weekend, and I was very grateful for her capable demeanor and experience, especially because my dog had a recent injury and needed extra attention. She left my apartment in much better shape than she found it, and she dropped everything to help after I realized I’d left my ID at home while I was traveling. She is truly a class act, professional individual, and I highly recommend her.”

“Keaton did a fantastic job sitting for our 3 cats. They were so attentive to the instructions we left, understood each cat’s different needs, and made sure to send regular, detailed updates and photos. It gave us such peace of mind to know Keaton was there with our cats - the best experience we’ve had with a sitter on Rover so far.”

“Melanie was a WONDERFUL sitter while we were on our family beach vacation. Keeping our dog safe and comfortable was her top priority! We will definitely have Melanie pet sit for us again! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!”

“Shamiso was great with Bella for a daytime house sitting. She sent lots of photos and updates, and was clearly very attentive with Bella - she knew when Bella was asking to go for a walk or to go in the backyard. Bella was happy and relaxed when I got home, so I know the day must have gone well. Thanks Shamiso!!”

About: I’ve worked with pets for the past 3 years. I slowly started off by taking care of family’s pets, the eventually worked up to building my own personal clientele and currently work for a pet care company called, Baby got bark. Through the years I’ve had the privilege of meeting a variety of pets of all kind from the small to big. I also had my own two kitties for the past decade who I completely love with all my heart. Currently, I’m working part time so I have spare time in the mornings before 12 and in the evenings after 5 pm. I’m not attending school at the moment either so I can devote my attention to pet care. I take care in reading and following instructions set by client’s for their pets. Dependent on the pet I work around their personality to see what they are and aren’t comfortable with as well.
“We have two dogs, including one who is wary of new people. Jordan was fantastic corralling and caring for them both. We went out of town for five days and she stayed in our home, sending regular photos and updates. The dogs seemed happier and more calm when we returned than when we left. Would highly recommend. We feel truly lucky to have found such a caring and responsible person to be with our girls.”

“As always, Alex was more than amazing with Charlie and Finley! He spent about 14 days with the dogs while we were abroad for Christmas. He sent us videos and pics everyday and even bought Charlie and Fin presents for Christmas. He allowed us to be worry free while being so far away and for so long. Thank you, Alex!”

Having Walter housesit and dogsit made my recent trip much less stressful! Walter was easy to work with and showed great affection for my senior pup. Walter was understanding of Watson's needs and asked helpful follow-up questions. I will definitely rebook Walter in the future.

Ben took great care of our dog, Banjo, while we were away on a long trip (almost 2 weeks). Coming home, the biggest relief was seeing Banjo happy, healthy, and in great spirits. It was clear he’d been well cared for. Ben made sure he was fed, walked, and had plenty of playtime and attention. He also took great care of our home by bringing in the mail and keeping an eye on everything while we were gone. We will definitely be using Ben again in the future. Highly recommend!

Jeffrey was fantastic. This was our first time using a dog/house sitter and I felt totally comfortable leaving our nervous pup with him. He watered the outdoor plants and kept them alive during a ridiculously hot long weekend. And he was really flexible when thunderstorms delayed our flight and we thought we might not get back that evening. We're so grateful for his work!

Chris was a great sitter for our two pups, taking particularly good care of them during a firework-heavy 4th of July holiday weekend. He was communicative, responsive to the pups’ needs and schedule, and also took good care of our house. Looking forward to having him watch Bentley and Simon again soon!

Malvika was so lovely! She took such wonderful care of my pup and left our home in excellent condition. She was extremely communicative throughout her stay and troubleshooter several things for my dog. She was thoughtful in arranging a pre-meet and was able to accommodate her schedule to fit our needs. Looking forward to utilizing her again soon!

We can’t say enough good things about Alex. He stayed with our 7 year old pit bull through the very hot July 4th holiday, and sent multiple daily updates and photos. When she wasn’t up for walking in the heat, he played with her and made her frozen kongs. He also watered our plants and set food out for the neighborhood feral cat. Highly recommend! PS - Make sure you book him early - he’s always in high demand, and rightfully so.

Danny was great! Our dog loved him... he had lots of walks, plenty of play time, and stayed on schedule for feedings, medicine, and bedtime. Danny was also a great houseguest... you couldn't even tell anyone had been there when we got home! We'll definitely book with him again. Thanks, Danny!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Takoma Park on Rover is $53.28 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 10,982 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Takoma Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Takoma Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Takoma Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Takoma Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
