“Maria was so great! I loved that she wanted to do a meet and greet beforehand. I can tell Shiloh was well taken care of. Even when I got a little worried, she was able to quickly reassure me. I definitely plan on booking her again for my future trips if she’ll have us :)”

“Really appreciate Jared's attention to detail. Our pets have a somewhat complicated feeding schedule! Communication level was great and gave us peace of mind while we were away.”

“Tristen is hands-down the best pet sitter we’ve ever had. It is incredibly hard to find someone you trust completely with your animals, but Tristen makes it easy. They are super dependable, detail-oriented, and excellent at keeping us updated while we’re away. It is such a relief to travel knowing the crew isn't just being taken care of, but truly loved. Our pets absolutely adore Tristen, and we’ll definitely be keeping them on speed dial. If you want someone responsible and genuinely sweet, look no further.”

“Maniyha did an excellent job watching our dog and two cats for a long weekend. She was very communicative, took care with the pets, and leafy our house nice and tiddy.”

“Cora was an excellent sitter that got Ozzy and Dee out for many walks. They loved her and she was attentive and an extremely good communicator which put our minds at ease. Definitely will look to book again and highly recommend to all pet owners!”

“Aliyah stayed at our house to take care of our dog and cat while we were on vacation. She was great -- responsive and reliable. Our dog and cat were very happy when we got home. I highly recommend her.”

“Keaton was AMAZING. We got multiple adorable pics and updates daily, so appreciated! They provided absolutely perfect care to our babies, one being a senior cat who needs daily injections and a bit of extra care to get her calories in. Not only that, but they went above and beyond keeping our house tidy and handling tasks that were beyond what we had even discussed. We will absolutely be booking them again. Thank you Keaton!”

“Molly was fantastic! She gave regular updates and handled our dogs with professionalism and care, including reaching out whenever she had a question. Will be booking again!”

“Sebastian was a fabulous dog/house sitter. He took care of my two 80-pound golden retrievers for a week while I was away. They can be a lot, and he handled them beautifully. I have had a lot of different sitters and he checked all my boxes: He arrived when he said he would; he stayed at the house and never left them for too long; he reached out when he had a question about their water bowl system; most importantly, the dogs were happy and healthy when I got back and the house was perfect. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again.”

“Gabz was a fantastic sitter for our senior cat. They were super communicative and diligently took great notes on his many medications. I cannot recommend Gabz enough for anything you need, including house sitting. Six stars!”

“Janis was wonderful house sitting for our cat Toastie while we were away on vacation. She stopped by for a meet-and-greet before, and it took no time for Toastie to warm up to her. Janis was excellent with communication. During her stay, we received regular updates and pics to let us know everything was fine. Janis was also responsible and took very good care of Toastie. We will be happy to schedule her again!”

“Hannah took such good care of our dog Penny. She gave lots of updates while we were away and took great care of our home as well. Highly recommend Hannah for any of your pet care needs! We will definitely ask her to stay with Penny next time we need a sitter!”

About: I’ve always lived with pets in my home and love spending time with them. Previously, I’ve helped watch my sister-in-law’s senior cat and have lots of patience with all animals. I’m currently between jobs so I’m very available to spend as much time as needed with your pets! I also love going on walks frequently throughout the day. Currently, I only live with a cat and she is quite independent. I’ve watched a few of my friend’s dogs and am able to stick to a routine for food and walks. I’m naturally a very detail-oriented person.
About: I have had pets my whole life (many cats and a dog—as well as a few reptiles) and have experience looking after both cats and dogs. I currently have one cat named Hildegard (I can spend way too long talking about her) and grew up having four cats in the house! I do not currently have a dog and I would love to spend time taking care of yours! I have flexible availability and will always check in/update the owner as much as they would like. I am a grad student, so my schedule is pretty flexible. I do research and go to libraries during the day when they're open, but aside from that my schedule is pretty open. If there is an issue with scheduling I'm usually able to move things around to make it work and happy to work with you to figure out the best plan for you and your pet(s)! I always check in with the owner if anything comes up and will make sure to send you updates as much as you'd like. I have experience caring for animals and always try my best to read their body language to make sure they're happy and feel safe.
“Micaela was amazing! She responded to a last minute booking and was very communicative the whole time. She sent pictures and asked questions and my pup loved her! Will definitely book again!”

“Megan took exceptional care of our older dog, Milly, over the long weekend. Milly requires extra patience and attention, and Megan quickly earned her trust, helping her feel comfortable and at ease. Her communication was prompt, professional, and reassuring. It was clear Milly wasn’t just being watched—she was genuinely cared for with kindness and attentiveness. We’re very grateful for the thoughtful care and would recommend Megan to anyone. We’ll absolutely book with her again.”

“My wife and I are extremely satisfied with the care Charlotte provided for our dog Teddy. From the moment we got home, we could tell how happy and well cared for he was. It really gave us peace of mind during our trip. Charlotte was punctual, attentive, and followed all of our instructions. We also really appreciated that she took the time to do a meet and greet beforehand to make sure we were a good fit. That meant a lot to us. During that conversation she learned about our travel destination and since she was familiar with the area, she went above and beyond by sharing helpful tips and a great list of places for us to check out. While we were away she sent us photos here and there, which made us feel even more comfortable knowing Teddy was in good hands. We truly feel like we didn’t just find a pet sitter, we made a new friend. Thank you Charlotte for taking such great care of Teddy. We would absolutely recommend her to family and friends.”

“Pambi was an amazing house sitter — she sent me nightly recaps of the days activities, and left the house in perfect condition. I’d highly recommend working with her!! Your plant and animal companions will be well cared for.”

“Javien is amazing! He stepped in to care for our dogs for a few days at our place with barely any notice. Our dogs adored him right away! He also handled our dog’s diabetic needs, including insulin injections. Plus, he kept us in the loop with updates all day. We felt so confident that our dogs were in good hands, even when we needed a sitter last minute. We’re definitely going to ask Javien again for future pet sitter needs! Thanks, Javien!”

Maria was absolutely fantastic. I loved that she came over for a meet and greet before the sitting. She was always on time and very communicative. Most importantly Halo loved her so much. Maria was so kind and gentle and sweet with Halo. She was really attentive to her needs. I will 1000% be booking her again.

We could not be more thankful to Meghan for taking such incredible care of our pups! She was attentive, followed our pup’s routines, and was extremely communicative; providing thorough updates complete with pictures of the pups throughout our time away from them. She made sure to keep our dogs comfortable in their own home while making us at ease while we were away. We will absolutely use Meghan’s services again in the future!

Tyette was fantastic. She sent us pics of all the dogs several times during the week, and offered to stay later on the last day in case our flight was delayed (it wasn't). She knew to keep the dogs inside during the smoke/air quality alert from the Canadian forest fires. We would absolutely hire her again.

Elizabeth took great care of our two Germans shepherds, two gerbils, and one hamster, while we were on vacation. We came home to very happy pets and a clean home. Elizabeth has a very kind, warm energy and our pets instantly loved her (even our easily anxious puppy), and she took great care of our older dog with medical issues.

Sean was absolutely fantastic! He watched our two Goldendoodles, Leo and Milo, for a full week and did an amazing job taking care of both the dogs and our home. He was extremely communicative throughout the entire stay, sent us regular pictures and updates, and always made sure to ask if there was anything else he could do to help while we were away. We came home to two happy, well-cared-for dogs and a house that was in great shape. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing Leo and Milo were in good hands while we were gone. We would absolutely trust Sean to watch them again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, communicative, and thoughtful sitter!

Danny was great! Our dog loved him... he had lots of walks, plenty of play time, and stayed on schedule for feedings, medicine, and bedtime. Danny was also a great houseguest... you couldn't even tell anyone had been there when we got home! We'll definitely book with him again. Thanks, Danny!

Sharon was fantastic with our anxiety-ridden pit bull mix, Cookie. She snuggled with Cookie whenever she needed some extra TLC and made sure she got both a morning and an afternoon walk. From the moment we met Sharon, it was clear she has a natural bond with animals that is hard to define. She is easygoing, calm, and, most importantly, updates you daily with a brief summary and pictures of your pet. I would love to have her dog sit again and will definitely recommend her services to friends in the future!

Gabz was awesome to work with. From our first meet and greet to the last message after we are back home from a weekend away Gabz was easy to talk to and very friendly. The pups loved their walks and chill out time with Gabz. Thank you, Gabz for cleaning up Balto’s vomit. Five stars for that!

Cannot say enough good things about Keaton. They looked after our 3 cats for two weeks. They capably handled multiple different kinds of meds for each cat, made sure each had their different needs for playtime and feeding met, and did it all with so much care for each. They sent multiple updates every day throughout the 2 weeks, which allowed us to relax and enjoy our time away, knowing the cats were in such good hands.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in University Park on Rover is $44.8 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred University Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in University Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in University Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
