“Jenny is an incredible dog sitter—we’ve used her multiple times to stay in our home and care for our two small dogs. We’re able to truly relax and enjoy being away, knowing our dogs and home are in such capable and caring hands. She treats everything as if it were her own and is consistently thoughtful and attentive. On top of that, she’s a great communicator and an absolute pleasure to work with.”

“Lauren was great! Took great care of our big, energetic dog and our cat! She kept us updated throughout the stay with messages and pictures. Would definitely recommend!”

“Mark was a phenomenal choice of sitters! Between a very senior cat, and an anxious, reactive pup, it is difficult to feel comfortable going out of town. Mark was great, very attentative to our pets needs, and very patient, allowing Teddy to warm up and feel comfortable around him. We appreciated his updates throughout the weekend, and his kindness to our furry family. Highly recommend, especially if your pets are uncertain of strangers.”

“Omar and Claudia are exceptional! They took excellent care of my puppy Ellie while I was away on a weekend trip. After our initial meet-and-greet, my husband and I felt comfortable and confident that my fur baby would be in good hands. Omar and Claudia are professional adults who are very polite and have kind, caring hearts. As a frequent traveler, I feel so fortunate to have met Omar and Claudia, whom I can trust, and who can give good care and love to my baby Ellie.”

“If Manju is available, book her! She was our house sitter and pet sitter for 17 days and we could not have been happier. She sent pictures and videos of our pets everyday and gave updates daily. You can tell she genuinely loves animals and is excited to spend time with them. I am already looking for ways to book her again!”

About: I only found about my love for dogs when I decided to get a dog a few years ago. My experience includes raising a chow chow puppy into a member of dog society by individual and dog park playtime, walks outside, administering medication, and enforced chill time as necessary. I know how anxiety inducing leaving your pets when you're away, so I will treat you the way I would like to be treated with many photo / video updates! I love all dogs, big or small, outgoing or shy! If your dog is socialized enough for a trip to PetSmart or marshalls, could do that too! I work full time from home without many meetings which gives me the flexibility I want to walk dogs or drop by a for visits. I can work with whatever equipment your dog is used to - collars and harnesses. If your dog has a schedule, I will follow it so they don't feel out of their routine.
“Tabatha was absolutely perfect!!!! She was prompt for the arrival time, she kept us updated with photos and messages. We felt very relaxed knowing our babies were in good hands!”

“Jeffrey saved the day with our anxious pup during a recent stay - while helping us sort out a FedEx delivery AND a problem with our deadbolt! He goes far above and beyond anything one should expect from a sitter and delivered amazing care for our dog who needed to be coaxed into eating and drinking while we were away. He’s also a great communicator who will keep you informed and share lots of pet photos and videos. Recommend Jeffrey highly, but please leave some time on his schedule for us! 😂 He’s a keeper!”

“Don did a great job watching our Maggie! He was very responsive to us and attentive to our little girl. He would often send us pics of her while we were away. Communication was great and Don did just as he said he would. He even stayed later for us due to our flight being delayed. 100% hope to book Don in the future!”

“Danny did a phenomenal job watching our two dogs, three cats and one bird over the holidays while we dealt with unexpected must do travel. When we needed to extend a few days, he graciously accommodated that as well.”

About: I learned pet care at a very young age after growing up with cats, dogs and bunnies. As a young adult, I gained additional experience caring for pets at animal shelters, and I have also cared for friends' and family pets from taking their dogs on walks, feeding, bathing, training dogs, and lightly grooming cats. I work remotely, so I am flexible with scheduling dog walks, daycare, drop-ins, and boarding. I'm free for late afternoon dog walks as well. Please inquire! Whenever entering a client’s home for a dog walk, I make sure to announce myself, so the pup knows I’m there. I’ll also put your pupper’s leash, harness, etc. back after each walk. And, on rainy days, I’m happy to wipe your pup’s feet after our walk if you leave me a towel for them. If your pup is staying with me, we will go on many walks. I live in a large 2 bedroom apartment with my partner near Rockville Town Center and your pup will have so much space to play!
“My pup had SO much fun with Julia. She is such a sweet and lovely person too which adds to a perfect sitter. We cannot wait to book her again and our pup is just as excited!! Thank you Julia!!!”

“Eileen was excellent! Very organized, spent a lot of time with Milo and kept us abreast of his daily activities. I asked Milo how she was and he just smiled and wagged his tail. I was more than pleased with her services and very positive attitude!”

“Leslie was super easy to coordinate with and great with the dogs. I came home to 2 happy dogs. She communicated throughout the stay and sent pictures. We’ll be contacting Leslie again!”

“Amanda was our favorite dog sitter we’ve ever had! She was extremely communicative and sent updates everyday throughout the day without us having to ask. She also left our home in perfect condition, nice and clean. She’s also very friendly and reliable, we can tell our fur baby loved her! Would 100000% recommend Amanda to anyone and already looking forward to the next time we get to book her :)”

“Lauren was wonderful! A true expert, she was fantastic with our very large puppy. We got just the right amount of communication to know our girl was well cared for without feeling guilty for not bringing her on vacation. Our pup absolutely LOVED being at home instead of boarding and we'll definitely reach out to Lauren again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Rockville
Mark really went above and beyond for us. One of our dogs had a flare up of a GI issue while he was watching them (for the very first time). It wasn’t an emergency but it was VERY gross and required Mark to get up with him again in the middle of the night. Mark was a trooper and dealt with the whole thing so well. Very communicative, made sure things got cleaned up, my dog got his medicine, and that both pups felt taken care of. He even made him white rice to get him to eat something with his pill. The house was left very tidy and the dogs even got an extra walk before he left. Will definitely have him sit for them again (if the experience didn’t scar him 🤦♀️).

I couldn't be more so happy to have Natalie as my trusted dog sitter. She made sure that my dog feels safe around her and her dog as well. Always keeping me updated which is my one priority with any of my sitter. I am so glad and appreciative that Natalie was able to look after my very sweet chunky chocolate lab while I was away. Definitely recommended her to family and friends who needs a dog sitter in the future.

Jenny was amazing watching our house and dog for a week. She was great at communicating and providing updates and photos and videos. Our dog wasn’t eating a lot the first couple days due to anxiety and missing, Jenny went above and beyond trying some different tactics to eventually find the right approach to get her to eat while checking in with us throughout the process. We were able to enjoy our vacation and came back to a very tidy home and very happy pup!

Bianca was great and we would definitely recommend her! She was able to accommodate a meet and greet to learn about our dogs before we left. She took great care of them, was responsive to messages, and sent us updates. She dogsat at our house and it was super clean when we got home. We are very happy and so are our doggies.
Lauren was wonderful! A true expert, she was fantastic with our very large puppy. We got just the right amount of communication to know our girl was well cared for without feeling guilty for not bringing her on vacation. Our pup absolutely LOVED being at home instead of boarding and we'll definitely reach out to Lauren again!

David did a phenomenal job caring for my somewhat anxious dog. He clearly knew how to keep him relaxed while I was gone. David did a great job sending me pics while I was gone and my home was in better condition than when I left. 10 out of 10! I would definitely rehire David again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rockville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rockville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rockville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
