“Heidy took such good care of of our dog and cat while we were away. Our dog is anxious and does not like change and she was so happy being with Heidy, who stayed at our house to keep them company. We would definitely use Heidy again!”

“Once again, we entrusted our energetic pooch, Truman, to Kevin's care, and once again, we couldn't be happier! Kevin's professionalism, patience, and genuine dedication to Truman shone through, just like the first time. Despite Truman's slight behavioral quirks, Kevin expertly managed him, ensuring he received the exercise and attention he needed. Returning home to find Truman relaxed and content speaks volumes about Kevin's dedication and skill as a pet sitter. Regular updates and photos kept us reassured throughout our trip. We wholeheartedly recommend Kevin to anyone seeking a reliable and caring pet sitter. Thanks, Kevin, for another fantastic experience!”

“Omar was a house sitter for our dog and cat on relatively short notice due to a sudden death of a close relative. Omar was flexible and communicated very well with us. We greatly appreciated the morning and evening pictures of both pets. Highly recommended and we will be a repeat customer.”

“Jenny did a great job watching our 2 dogs for 4 nights! She communicated with us on a daily basis, providing pictures and detailed updates. She left the house spotless and even took the sheets and towels to the laundry room! Our dogs were happy and well cared for and we hope to have her back again in the near future!”

“Xena was great! We just moved into town and she made it so easy and stress free to know our fur kiddo was well taken care of when going out of town. She was forgiving of the chaos of our house due to the unpacking and was able to support Levi as a senior. Will be booking again when we need a dog sitter!”

“Archie did great with George. He was on time and even though we had a chaotic household with a baby and baby and folks getting ready to go out, he was able to take in all the instructions. He also communicated constantly throughout his stay, which I really appreciated!”

“Lesley was amazing and took care of our anxious pup wonderfully. We had just lost our cat and the pup was a nervous wreck, and Lesley was able to care for her and keep her happy while we were away!”

“Malek took wonderful care of our 2 goldendoodles while staying at our house for the weekend. Malek followed all instructions and keep the dogs happy, safe and took great care of our house.”

“Don did a great job watching our Maggie! He was very responsive to us and attentive to our little girl. He would often send us pics of her while we were away. Communication was great and Don did just as he said he would. He even stayed later for us due to our flight being delayed. 100% hope to book Don in the future!”

“Kyrstin is incredible and we greatly appreciated the love and care that she provided while sitting our boys. Every report was carefully detailed, she kept great communication with us, kept their routine going, she played their favorite games, gave them cuddles and love while we were away, and she seemed to truly love them the way that we do. I felt like she went above and beyond every single day, and we couldn't recommend booking her enough. Thank you again, Kyrstin!”

“Tabatha was fantastic! I had to go out of town to deal with sick family, and needed to not worry about my pets. Tabatha made everything so easy and took great care of my dog and cat. Will definitely be booking with her again.”

“We are so fortunate to have found Vitali! If you want to go on vacation and not have to worry about your pets plotting your demise, hire Vitali B! Great communication and our kitties were so relaxed upon our return that they barely noticed us when we walked in to the house. Meow.....”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Scotland
Mark house-sat our 17 years old dog for a long weekend. He was very punctual, responsible and conscientious, caring and respectful to our home. He asked for clarification when he needed to ensure that he was doing the right thing. He sent us daily updates. We are very happy with his service.

I couldn't be more so happy to have Natalie as my trusted dog sitter. She made sure that my dog feels safe around her and her dog as well. Always keeping me updated which is my one priority with any of my sitter. I am so glad and appreciative that Natalie was able to look after my very sweet chunky chocolate lab while I was away. Definitely recommended her to family and friends who needs a dog sitter in the future.

Sharon was very responsive to a last-minute dog- and puppy-sitting service request and really saved our bacon! She took great care of our 10 week puppy who is still in the middle of house training — no accidents on her watch, for which I’m very grateful. We will be repeat customers for sure.

This was our first time ever leaving our two male dogs with someone outside the family so we were a little nervous, but Christine went above & beyond taking care of the boys. She stayed with the boys in our house for 9 days, which made a huge difference. She sent daily pics of the boys at home and on their walks and let us know how they were doing each day. I could see the boys felt comfortable with her and were enjoying their daily routine. Usually when we're gone for even several hours, they get very anxious but this time when we arrived home they seemed much calmer. We are so thrilled to have found Christine and are looking forward to booking her again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Scotland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Scotland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Scotland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
