“We had our first session with Dominique to help our dog Tater Tot with his separation anxiety last week. We also discussed with him that we wanted to work on Tater Tot's jumping and excitement when guests come over. Tater Tot has been peeing in the house a lot recently when we aren't home, or when we are not together in the house. Tater Tot also jumps on people and gets very excited when we have guests. In our first session, just an hour, Dominique worked with us to desensitize Tater Tot to our keys and us leaving for 5-15 seconds. He provided us with tools on how to keep Tater Tot busy during the day as well. He also showed us how to redirect Tater Tot when he gets excited and jumps on guests. Dominique knew immediately how to help us and Tater Tot with our concerns. He entered our home with such professionalism and kindness. We felt we were in great hands, and Tater Tot loved him. We plan to schedule more sessions with Dominique after doing the homework and training this week. Tater Tot is up to 20 seconds of us outside the house already! Recommend 100% for your training needs.”

“Monica is a knowledgeable and kind trainer. She took the time to get to know Ollie and his needs and crafted a plan accordingly. She’s also incredibly reliable and communicative which is always a plus. Would highly recommend her!”

“Gillo and I had a session with Quinn and it was very informative. She answered all of my questions. I plan on working with Gillo with the tips I received and book another session in a few weeks. Thanks Quinn !”

“We have had 3 sessions with Veronica so far and have found them engaging, informational, and actionable. Our dog Milo is anxious and reactive to sounds, and she has suggested some changes and techniques that have already helped. We look forward to continuing to work with Veronica!”

“Skylar did a consult since we are first time dog owners of a 13 week old puppy. He did an assessment of our home set up and dynamics. He provided us with very practical advice and handled our crazy little monster exceptionally since she is at that puppy stage where nipping and bitting is high.”

“Luc knows what he's doing and how to analyze each dog's behavior once he meets them. When I dropped off our 3-months old chihuahua/terrier mix overnight, Luc quickly observed the puppy's behavior. Our puppy only knew of the command "sit" when he arrived, but he came home a different dog. He not only knew MORE commands ("touch", "left paw", "right paw", "settle", and "wait"), he was much more behaved. Luc provided us with some notes to take home to continue the training with our puppy. Luc's patience and dedication in training dogs to be better dogs definitely shows through his efforts.”

“Jose is amazing. He is currently helping me train my 19-week-old puppy (Po). He understands the developmental stages of dogs and is well-versed in the specific techniques required at each stage of a dog's development. I really liked that he took the time to explain everything/step during our session and helped me to practice the technique using a systematic, yet dog-friendly approach.”

“This training session went so well! Jesus is wonderful with Tallulah. She responds so well to him. Jesus is wise and gives us lots of advice on how to interact with our puppy. He is gentle, yet firm. Tallulah is already able to follow direction and is better behaved. I am very happy with the training.”

“I had some serious issues crate training my dog even after months of trying. Jaclyn helped me so much. Now my dog will go to her crate on her own even if no one has told her to because she feels so safe there. Thank you Jaclyn.”

“Justin was great! He was very punctual, which I really appreciate. He was also very patient and gentle with my Labrador, who pulls! The session was comfortable and productive. Highly recommend Justin!”

About: I do not discriminate against any breed, or aggressive dogs. I have had ten years of experience working with dogs and spent two of them shadowing other trainers and learning what techniques work for me and what does not.
“I have entered a testimonial. It is less than 600 words. I worked hard to edit and meet that benchmark. It continues to refuse. Beatrice is amazing. Please advise. She is over the top responsible and loving. And she is an amazing human being. Please advise.”

About: I believe every person and every pet is different. What works for one pet and family may not work for another. I also believe in addressing root causes and understanding how pets communicate.
“I met Miran when my dog was a puppy and I was struggling with training. In just two weeks, Tosca learned so much through positive reinforcement, and with Miran’s guidance I was able to continue the training on my own with great results. Miran is a true “dog whisperer”—gentle, intuitive, and deeply connected to dogs. Tosca still stays with her when we travel, and is always so happy to see her, which says everything. I highly recommend Miran.”

“Taylor has an excellent rapport with my dog. He took to her immediately and every training session we’ve learned at least two new things that stay with him after she’s gone.”

“I have two high-drive dogs, a Border Collie and a German Shepherd. I used her services to watch my dogs. Not only did they fall in love with her, but they listened to all her instructions. She showed me the correct way to handle them. I used to worry so much when we went out of town, now I feel very confident when Mrs K is with our pups.”

“Brad is a wonderful trainer. He is very patient, both with my pup and me! I am so thankful to his help with leash behavior, addressing issues of separation anxiety and integration of our dog into our multi-cat household. He is very responsive and answers questions thoughtfully. He is a gem!”

“Connor has been such a help with my dog. He’s super reliable, knowledgeable, and has a real gift for keeping dogs calm and engaged during training. I always feel completely comfortable leaving my dog in his hands!”

“Kirk was attentive, had great communication, and was professional. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a good dog trainer. I can see the difference in the walk already and I really needed a change of experience with the doggo. Thanks Kirk!”
“Lei was amazing with my first training consultation with my puppy Chloe! She is very warm and supportive of new dog owners. Her expertise on dog breeds felt reassuring to me and I am grateful for her knowledge. Lei also sent a detailed outline on training tips and guidance. I highly recommend Lei!”

“Tommy has been a Godsend to me. I thought that maybe I was just too old to have a young dog, but he showed me how to work with Gunnar in the simplest way that has totally changed our lives. The difference in our walks is nothing short of amazing, but the impact is felt in the home too. He is always available for questions and support, and I love watching his videos for reminders, tips and tricks. I would and do recommend training with Tommy to everyone. My daughter-in-law took his classes and was equally thrilled. Most importantly, Gunnar loves and trust Tommy too!”

“I was very impressed with Lindsay’s professional dog training knowledge and her ability to bond with Rusty. She gave me some helpful advice and I am looking forward to her training session.”
“Nichole was fantastic with my little man! A friend referred me to her and told me to give virtual training a try and now I won’t go back to in person. She was extremely knowledgeable and we immediately felt comfortable working with her. Definitely recommend if you need a trainer and you don’t even have to leave the house!”

Dog Training FAQs
Frequently asked questions about Rover
Trainers listing on Rover must be credentialed dog trainers, commit to reward-based training methods, and pass a background check to offer dog training in Rockville.
Reward-based training encourages dogs to offer desired behaviors by reinforcing the behavior with something the dog likes; treats, play, or toys. Reward-based training prioritizes using the least intrusive intervention; it promotes thinking rather than punishing mistakes.
When rewards are used, the likelihood the behavior is repeated increases. The positive connection to the reward results in making learning enjoyable, strengthens the human animal bond and over time leads to consistent desired behaviors.
Training can happen many places — your home, a park, a store, or anywhere else that you and your trainer decide is best for the training you are doing! Many trainers will recommend training in your home. This allows them to observe your dog in their natural environment so they can effectively assess and best help reach your training goals.
Trainers will often mention on their profile where they typically hold training sessions, but you can always contact a trainer to learn more!
Rover makes it easy to find Rockville dog trainers to provide loving care from their own home. The background-checked, 5-star trainers you can find on Rover will work with you and your dog to build new skills and address behaviors. Dog trainers can work on:
- Puppy training, adult dog training, agility training, clicker training and advanced training.
- Behaviors such as barking, leash manners, leash reactivity, house manners, jumping, fearful behavior, anxious behavior, separation distress, recall, biting, chewing, mouthiness, potty training and resource guarding.
Of course! Having a trainer that is the right fit for both you and your pup is an important step to reaching your training goals. We recommend reaching out to any trainer that interests you. Your initial request is not final until both you and the trainer decide you want to move forward with booking.
Also, trainers may offer or require consultations. Make sure to ask trainers so you can make the best decision for you and your pet.
Many trainers on Rover indicate experience in a wide range of behaviors, from puppy training to more advanced behaviors and training types.
Review a trainer’s profile to see if their experience aligns with your needs, and if you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact them to ensure they’re the right trainer for you and your pet.
We get it—sometimes plans change and you may need to cancel your dog training service. You can cancel an upcoming booking directly from the Rover app or your computer, in accordance with your trainer’s cancellation policy.
