Child friendly, humane dog training

I specialize in healthy puppy development, training, and helping highly aroused or fearful young adult dogs. While I work with all ages, families with children are my specialty. My coaching style is highly personalized, flexible, and entirely focused on the needs of the client and dog. Additionally, as a certified behavior consultant with an Applied Animal Behavior certification from UW, I am fully qualified to provide behavior modification treatment for dogs on anti-anxiety medication.

What to expect

Consultation

I do not offer a consultation, but after prospect clients reach out with their introduction and potential training requests to exchange ideas, we can hop on a quick (15 minutes) phone call if there are any lingering questions or the situation is complex (adoption or bite cases).

Sessions

Typically in your home

I request vaccination history via email prior to our first session. The first lesson is up to 1,5 hour in length. Follow-up lessons are 1-hour each. The lessons are made up of some theories discussing the issue or area of interest and applying exercises tailored to the situation. After the lesson, clients receive a follow up email lesson summary we with homework to practice. All bookings must go through Rover.

Positive Reinforcement

My training technique uses instinctual motivaters for my clients' dogs I.e. food, toys, pets and praise as well as the environment depending on the dog and situation such as breed/mix, location, age, developmental phase, genetics and learning history. Establishing a bond between pet and pet parent is my primary goal while teaching clients how to build reliable and ideal behavioral patterns that satisfy the dogs' needs. To achieve healthy learning and behavioral change, I rely on training equipment that doesn't any discomfort and I encourage my clients to keep up with the practice as advised.
