“Dominique is very capable and, most importantly, very professional compared to others I've booked on Rover. He always arrives on time, if not early; communicates very well; offers timely consultation on questions and observations, even outside and between scheduled sessions; and provides written instructions after training sessions for owners to follow, ensuring consistent training to maximize results. My pup also loves him very much and always behaves so well when he's with him.”

“Monica is a knowledgeable and kind trainer. She took the time to get to know Ollie and his needs and crafted a plan accordingly. She’s also incredibly reliable and communicative which is always a plus. Would highly recommend her!”

“Skylar was great. Took Coco out and not only explained what to do but showed me what to do to minimize Coco’s reactivity when in walks. Not for the hard part, implementing what I’ve learned. Will definitely rebook as needed.”

“Lily is fantastic! In our first session, she explained Lucinda’s behavior and that it was high anxiety. She showed me how my movements made her fearful, and how I should approach building a relationship with her. It will take time, but after our session, Lucinda was able to sit next to me, and eat a treat out of my hand. I have a lot of work to do, but I feel like we’re off to a great start. Lily also provided me with info about a tripod, harness, leash, high level treats, and working to break the fear of our elevator noise. I’m looking forward to our next session.”

About: I work with both dogs and cats, combining training, holistic wellbeing, cognitive enrichment, and relaxation support to help pets and their people thrive. I help families better understand body language and behavior, while recognizing individual needs, offering choices, and supporting agency. My goal is to build confidence, trust, and stronger relationships through practical, compassionate guidance.
“Jesus was great! He was friendly and really seemed to enjoy our dogs. Great information and easy to follow instructions. We will have him back for a follow up for sure for some future training. Highly recommended.”

About: In 2018 while fostering with Operation Paws for Homes, I took an interest in obedience training as a way to help my foster dogs have a better chance at staying with their adopters, as I noticed a lot of dogs would get returned to the rescue for normal dog behavior. So I took that opportunity to welcome those returned dogs into my home, and teach them the skills they needed to have a greater chance of a lasting adoption. In 2020 I got my dog training certification through Animal Behavior College, and in 2022 I joined PetSmart as a trainer, being promoted to Area Trainer in 2025.
“I had some serious issues crate training my dog even after months of trying. Jaclyn helped me so much. Now my dog will go to her crate on her own even if no one has told her to because she feels so safe there. Thank you Jaclyn.”

“We never had a dog before and Miran started training us and Rio when he was about 6 months old. He's now almost 4 and I'm still getting compliments about how well-behaved he is. Many of my friends have asked me who trained him. Miran uses positive, gentle reinforcement in her training and she is so loving that Rio still gets super excited every time she comes over. We're so grateful to have found her!!”

“Jose demonstrates a genuinely love of not just training dogs, but helping his clients understand their pets. He is very professional and puts a lot of care into working with the dogs and is very responsive to client needs. He puts together training programs that work towards achieving the clients goal, whether its protect or just basic obedience. He is very friendly, honest, and super easy to work with. Clients can expect to walk away with great results and feel empowered going forward.”

About: I do not discriminate against any breed, or aggressive dogs. I have had ten years of experience working with dogs and spent two of them shadowing other trainers and learning what techniques work for me and what does not.
“Kirk was attentive, had great communication, and was professional. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a good dog trainer. I can see the difference in the walk already and I really needed a change of experience with the doggo. Thanks Kirk!”
“Brad is a wonderful trainer. He is very patient, both with my pup and me! I am so thankful to his help with leash behavior, addressing issues of separation anxiety and integration of our dog into our multi-cat household. He is very responsive and answers questions thoughtfully. He is a gem!”

“Tommy has been a Godsend to me. I thought that maybe I was just too old to have a young dog, but he showed me how to work with Gunnar in the simplest way that has totally changed our lives. The difference in our walks is nothing short of amazing, but the impact is felt in the home too. He is always available for questions and support, and I love watching his videos for reminders, tips and tricks. I would and do recommend training with Tommy to everyone. My daughter-in-law took his classes and was equally thrilled. Most importantly, Gunnar loves and trust Tommy too!”

“I started working with Dolores Murray in 2021. When my dog was 11 weeks old we started to have weekly lessons. Dolores gave me and my dog different assignments to work on each week. My dog is now almost 4 years old. Dolores encouraged me to have my dog take the American Kennel Club “Canine Good Citizen” test. My dog passed all parts on the first try. I could not recommend Dolores Murray more highly. She can teach you how to train your dog but you have to follow through with the training every day. Today, I could not dream of having a better dog.”

“Lei was amazing with my first training consultation with my puppy Chloe! She is very warm and supportive of new dog owners. Her expertise on dog breeds felt reassuring to me and I am grateful for her knowledge. Lei also sent a detailed outline on training tips and guidance. I highly recommend Lei!”

“I was very impressed with Lindsay’s professional dog training knowledge and her ability to bond with Rusty. She gave me some helpful advice and I am looking forward to her training session.”
“Taylor has an excellent rapport with my dog. He took to her immediately and every training session we’ve learned at least two new things that stay with him after she’s gone.”

Dog Training FAQs
Frequently asked questions about Rover
Trainers listing on Rover must be credentialed dog trainers, commit to reward-based training methods, and pass a background check to offer dog training in Silver Spring.
Reward-based training encourages dogs to offer desired behaviors by reinforcing the behavior with something the dog likes; treats, play, or toys. Reward-based training prioritizes using the least intrusive intervention; it promotes thinking rather than punishing mistakes.
When rewards are used, the likelihood the behavior is repeated increases. The positive connection to the reward results in making learning enjoyable, strengthens the human animal bond and over time leads to consistent desired behaviors.
Training can happen many places — your home, a park, a store, or anywhere else that you and your trainer decide is best for the training you are doing! Many trainers will recommend training in your home. This allows them to observe your dog in their natural environment so they can effectively assess and best help reach your training goals.
Trainers will often mention on their profile where they typically hold training sessions, but you can always contact a trainer to learn more!
Rover makes it easy to find Silver Spring dog trainers to provide loving care from their own home. The background-checked, 5-star trainers you can find on Rover will work with you and your dog to build new skills and address behaviors. Dog trainers can work on:
- Puppy training, adult dog training, agility training, clicker training and advanced training.
- Behaviors such as barking, leash manners, leash reactivity, house manners, jumping, fearful behavior, anxious behavior, separation distress, recall, biting, chewing, mouthiness, potty training and resource guarding.
Of course! Having a trainer that is the right fit for both you and your pup is an important step to reaching your training goals. We recommend reaching out to any trainer that interests you. Your initial request is not final until both you and the trainer decide you want to move forward with booking.
Also, trainers may offer or require consultations. Make sure to ask trainers so you can make the best decision for you and your pet.
Many trainers on Rover indicate experience in a wide range of behaviors, from puppy training to more advanced behaviors and training types.
Review a trainer’s profile to see if their experience aligns with your needs, and if you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact them to ensure they’re the right trainer for you and your pet.
We get it—sometimes plans change and you may need to cancel your dog training service. You can cancel an upcoming booking directly from the Rover app or your computer, in accordance with your trainer’s cancellation policy.
