“Wonderful family. loving, warm and relaxed environment. Great communitcation. My dog, Lio, seemed so happy and relaxed from the minute we got there.”

“I couldn’t be happier with Adi & Pat’s care for Louie! They communicate well and clearly, they asked good questions to make sure they’d cover all the bases for Louie’s care, and provided regular updates and photos, which were greatly appreciated. Louie came home happy and relaxed after his stay and knowing he had a comfortable time is great peace of mind. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for anyone looking for local sitters and I will certainly be rebooking for any future stays!”

“Josefa was wonderful with our dog Toby (mini schnauzer, 8 yrs old, 30 lbs) when she looked after him for the day. She was so warm, welcoming, communicative, and made sure that Toby was comfortable while in her care. Toby was super relaxed when we picked him up, which is a great sign. We're so glad to have found Josefa and will absolutely reach out again for doggy day care. Highly recommended! :)”

“Shantell was amazing with my pup Kiko. I really can’t recommend her enough. She is reliable, communicative, and accommodating. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, especially with my energetic pup.”

“Scout, always a nervous dog, has decided she loves Cassidy and Elizabeth! This visit they played endless fetch and went on an outing in Rock Creek Park. We were so grateful for the great care they took with her. Will will definitely rebook.”

“Brit had such a great time with Angela! They managed two walks, despite the rain, and Brit slept the whole way home. We will definitely be back!”

“Chad and Regina were very accommodating and flexible in helping tend to my pup’s first dog sit. Feeling at ease to leave her in their good hands in the future!”

“I was really impressed with Jason N. and can't recommend him highly enough! My pup is a shy rescue with separation anxiety, but she immediately felt right at home at Jason N.'s and was having so much fun with the wonderful resident dog that she barely noticed when I left. I received regular updates on her day that completely assuaged any concerns I'd normally have, and when I picked her up at the end of the day I found her happy, relaxed, and all played-out. Having someone I really trust to watch Stella is an immense piece of mind, and I'll definitely be calling Jason N. next time I need a sitter.”

About: My husband and I live in a spacious home in Manor Park with a very friendly rough collie and fenced yard. I am now back at the office and while my husband normally works from home, he rarely must be on-site on short notice. Please consider this possibility when gauging whether your pup could be okay during the day if needed. Our pup would love a pal! We take 2-3 walks a day and play as hard as we nap. We live near lots of green space and the Takoma dog park. We’re here to cater to your dog’s specific schedule and needs! Your pups have free roam of our house and can hang out in the yard or covered back deck weather-permitting. Potty breaks happen in our yard and/or on walks.

About: My husband and I grew up with dogs and have had a dog together for 8 years. We have experience training dogs and caring for a range of breeds and levels of need. We recently bought a house with a fenced-in yard and figured our dog would like some new friends! We are educators so we work throughout the week until summer break when we will be home throughout the day. We look forward to meeting your pup and caring for them like they’re our own! We are both in education, so we are currently working throughout the week but are free on the weekends or can care for dogs that are used to being home. We do have a dog of our own to keep others company while we are away. During summer break, we will be home all day every day to care for your dog! We have a house in a quiet area with a large fenced-in yard that your dog will love to run around in. We also have a dog of our own who loves to make new friends and play. We have experience as dog owners for 8 years, and we are comfortable with any care needs as a result. We look forward to welcoming your dog into our home!
“Joey did a fantastic job to take great care of my 7-year-old labrador who had a bit of separation anxiety. I am so grateful with Joey to accept the last minute request after a brief meet up. I would love to use his services again and highly recommend him. Thanks again Joey for your flexibility and patience with Meimei!”

About: I used to be a manager at a dog shelter which I absolutely loved before moving to a new state. I’ve also grown up on a farm and handled all types of pets from goats, pigs, cows to dogs, cats, hamsters, and fish. I believe every animal deserves to be treated as family not just a pet. I am always home until 3pm when I leave for work, but when I am not home my partner is home. Someone will always be there to take care of your furry or scaly family and will never be left without someone even for a second. They will be welcomed with love, play, and kindness in my home. We will ensure nothing is around that will harm the animal whether it is cables, shoes, food, etc. we will always be around to ensure your pet is taken care of and in good health.

About: I've had lots of pets over the years and my life has been made a lot richer for having animals in it. I am very comfortable with the care of dogs, cats, birds and tortoises as these are the pets that I've had the most. I am comfy with the care of puppies and have spent a long time volunteering with rescues. Dogs and cats that have special quirks or need additional care are welcome with me. I'm here to offer a loving and caring environment for all animals regardless of their issues or needs. I work from home and I'm really flexible so I can offer a lot of attention and focus to your pet's needs. Just let me know how I can help! I live in an apartment but there are green spaces on either side of the building where your dog can be taken out to relieve itself.
“I was very nervous to leave my babies with anyone but on day 2 they were scratching down her door to get in. That just told me they received as much love with Vanessa as they do at home. 🥰”

“Cal and Kelly are great! They sent tons of updates during the day and my pup had a blast! She came home all tired out and we will definitely be going back 😁”

Chanelle provides greatcarefor Poppy who was reluctant to go with her when we started in January. Now Poppy waits at the door with tail wagging eager to go. Chanelle boarded Poppy last week while I was on vacation. Poppy was very happy and I ws confident she was very well cared for by Chanelle who truly enjoys her.

We were visiting DC from out of state for the 4th and wanted to visit the Great American State Fair, and not only was it WAY too hot outside for our standard poodle, but dogs weren’t allowed in the festival. We messaged Josefa to check on her availability and within hours we were dropping our baby off and she was gracious enough to allow us an 11:30pm pickup. Josefa sent us pictures during Cliff’s stay and he looked relaxed and seemed excited to see us when we picked him up, but otherwise calm and not at all stressed. I have a feeling he just got petted and loved on the whole time he was there. Highly recommend this very responsive and super sweet sitter. Thank you again Josefa for taking such good care of our Cliff!!

Gregory is so wonderful with Evie! We’ve used him multiple times and, honestly, it brings me so much joy and ease to know they take care of Evie like their own. They play with her, challenge her, cuddle with her, and she looks forward to going every time! She loves their dogs and they’re all like little besties now. Gregory has great communication and provides updates throughout the day to make everything even better. We love sending Evie here!!

We as Valerie's owners added a complicated wrinkle -- I am traveling and have the Rover.com account, and my daughters were on the ground doing the drop off and pick up. Ana did not blink an eye over our logisitcal wrinkle. She was so easy to work with. My daughter said Ana was extremely welcoming and clearly a dog person, so Valerie was so excited to be at her place. We would definitely book with Ana again.

Michael is always reliable, this my second rover experience with michael and he’s always on top of communication, sending me photos of sevyn, asking any questions he might have. He’s honestly been such a big help on days I need someone to take care of sevyn even if it’s last minute

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Takoma Park commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
