About: My husband and I grew up with dogs and have had a dog together for 8 years. We have experience training dogs and caring for a range of breeds and levels of need. We recently bought a house with a fenced-in yard and figured our dog would like some new friends! We are educators so we work throughout the week until summer break when we will be home throughout the day. We look forward to meeting your pup and caring for them like they’re our own! We are both in education, so we are currently working throughout the week but are free on the weekends or can care for dogs that are used to being home. We do have a dog of our own to keep others company while we are away. During summer break, we will be home all day every day to care for your dog! We have a house in a quiet area with a large fenced-in yard that your dog will love to run around in. We also have a dog of our own who loves to make new friends and play. We have experience as dog owners for 8 years, and we are comfortable with any care needs as a result. We look forward to welcoming your dog into our home!

I have a fenced in backyard with plent of room to play and run around. I also have a very walkable neighbourhood and have an extra room for your pet to have their space.

About: Based in Petworth/Brightwood Park in NW DC, I am a lifelong animal lover and professional pet care provider with 15+ years of experience. I founded my own dog walking business in DC in 2009 and have built a loyal client base on one thing: treating every dog like my own. Experienced with all sizes and temperaments, I maintain my own professional liability insurance for your peace of mind. I share my home with two miniature pinschers of my own, so I understand what it means to leave a dog you love in someone else's hands. I work remotely, which means I am home and attentive throughout the day. Boarding dogs are never left alone for extended periods. They get regular outdoor time in our fully fenced yard, midday walks, and plenty of attention morning, afternoon, and evening. I require a meet-and-greet prior to all first-time bookings. Please reach out at least 5 to 7 days before your requested stay. Returning clients are welcome to book with 48 hours' notice. For holiday weekends, I recommend reaching out 2 to 3 weeks in advance as spots fill quickly. Pickup and drop off are available upon request for an additional fee. Please message me with your location for a quote. I serve clients in Northwest DC and surrounding neighborhoods. Your dog's safety and comfort are my top priority. Boarding guests have a dedicated first-floor living space with access to a large deck and a fully fenced yard for secure off-leash time throughout the day. I maintain my own professional liability insurance for added peace of mind. My home is dog-proof and calm. I do not overbook, keeping the number of guests small so every dog gets individualized attention. I provide regular photo and message updates throughout every stay, so you always know your pup is happy and well cared for.
“Michael was great ! Last minute booking but he made me feel super secure about leaving my dog with him. My dog can be alittle overstimulated at times just because he has small dog big dog imposter syndrome but michael did great constantly giving me updates. Everything was amazing and will def be reaching out again when I need a sitter!”

“I felt very confident my dog was being very well-looked after. Cassidy sent me frequent photos and updates and seemed very happy to have my dog. I will definitely contact Cassidy the next time I need daycare of boarding.”

About: Hi, I'm a lifelong animal lover with hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of animals throughout my life. Growing up surrounded by pets taught me the importance of patience, responsibility, and understanding each animal's unique personality and needs. Today, I work in healthcare, where compassion, attentiveness, and trust are at the core of everything I do. I bring those same qualities to every dog I care for, ensuring they receive safe, reliable, and loving attention while you're away. Whether your pup needs an energetic walk, extra companionship, or a caring friend to keep them active and happy, you can count on me to treat them like family. Dog walking is a regular part of my weekly schedule, and I prioritize providing dependable, consistent care for every dog. I carefully plan my day to accommodate scheduled walks, ensuring each pet receives appropriate exercise, attention, and outdoor time based on their individual needs. I maintain clear communication with pet owners, arrive on time, and provide updates when requested. My goal is to ensure every walk is safe, enjoyable, and beneficial for the dog's physical and mental well-being. I provide safe, attentive walks tailored to each dog's energy level and needs. I ensure they get exercise, mental stimulation, water when needed, and plenty of positive reinforcement during our time together
“Chad and Regina were very accommodating and flexible in helping tend to my pup’s first dog sit. Feeling at ease to leave her in their good hands in the future!”

About: My Golden Lab, Grace, was my best friend. She escaped from a puppy mill at 3 months old and I had her ever since. Dogs offer such unconditional love and the chance to repay that even a little bit is rewarding. I work full time in mental health close to home. I have a flexible schedule that allows me a lot of free time and the ability to make my own schedule. I love reading, writing, cooking and exploring my new city I now call home. I'm also experienced in taking care of bunnies as well and have sat over 10 clients. I love chilling with them while reading! I mean, it’s a fact that floppy bunny ears are the cutest thing ever, right? I think Bill Nye the Science Guy taught me that. My experience with pets over the years has taught me that they often act out when they don’t feel comfortable. They also sometimes show aggression or fear in new circumstances. This is all totally normal! My first focus is always allowing a visiting pooch to scope out the place at their own pace without any distractions. This allows them to feel as comfortable as possible. I stay close and keep a special eye on them in case they’re telling me with body language that they’re upset, scared, hungry or just want some outside time! I learned from Grace that all animals deserve compassion and understanding and they’ll feel loved and understood. I would love the chance to provide a home-away-from-home for your doggie that they will love to return to each time you’re away! I work three days of the week remotely, leaving me with a lot of one on one time with your fur baby to cuddle, take a walk, or have a belly rub! When your baby steps into my home, they are now officially in a space they are free to explore without restrict so they can find the most comfortable spot that makes them feel cozy and welcomed!
“We love Shantell! She’s become our go-to dog sitter. So sweet, great communication, great photos, flexible, kind. Leo bounds up to her door and always comes home relaxed and like he had a great day.”

“I was really impressed with Jason N. and can't recommend him highly enough! My pup is a shy rescue with separation anxiety, but she immediately felt right at home at Jason N.'s and was having so much fun with the wonderful resident dog that she barely noticed when I left. I received regular updates on her day that completely assuaged any concerns I'd normally have, and when I picked her up at the end of the day I found her happy, relaxed, and all played-out. Having someone I really trust to watch Stella is an immense piece of mind, and I'll definitely be calling Jason N. next time I need a sitter.”

About: Having grown up with dogs and owning my own as an adult for many years, taking care of dogs comes naturally to me. I am the go-to “favorite aunty” when it comes to sitting for my friends’ dogs. Given I work from home, I figured I could expand my services and care for dogs that aren’t already “in the family.” I work for myself from home, so I set my own schedule, offering me lots of flexibility. I love taking walks already, so taking a furry friend with me fits in nicely with my routine. In addition, I love the cuddles and companionship a dog offers and am happy to be a calming, loving presence for your dog during the day or overnight, if need be. I have an outdoor space attached to my apartment for emergency outdoor visits, plus I love going on walks around my neighborhood for a little extra movement and exercise and potty needs. If there is a nearby dog park or a fenced in yard at the pet’s home, I’m happy to utilize that for more off leash play. If the dog is open to it, I’m a big fan of snuggling on the couch together.

“Gregory is so wonderful with Evie! We’ve used him multiple times and, honestly, it brings me so much joy and ease to know they take care of Evie like their own. Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Takoma Park
We were visiting DC from out of state for the 4th and wanted to visit the Great American State Fair, and not only was it WAY too hot outside for our standard poodle, but dogs weren’t allowed in the festival. We messaged Josefa to check on her availability and within hours we were dropping our baby off and she was gracious enough to allow us an 11:30pm pickup. Josefa sent us pictures during Cliff’s stay and he looked relaxed and seemed excited to see us when we picked him up, but otherwise calm and not at all stressed. I have a feeling he just got petted and loved on the whole time he was there. Highly recommend this very responsive and super sweet sitter. Thank you again Josefa for taking such good care of our Cliff!!

We as Valerie's owners added a complicated wrinkle -- I am traveling and have the Rover.com account, and my daughters were on the ground doing the drop off and pick up. Ana did not blink an eye over our logisitcal wrinkle. She was so easy to work with. My daughter said Ana was extremely welcoming and clearly a dog person, so Valerie was so excited to be at her place. We would definitely book with Ana again.

Chanelle has been walking my beagle since February. She is dependable, personable and Poppy looks forward to their walks. I have since engaged her for daycare and this summer she will be boarding for 10 days. I am so happy that I have found Chanelle to help care for my dog. I highly recommend her.

Michael is always reliable, this my second rover experience with michael and he’s always on top of communication, sending me photos of sevyn, asking any questions he might have. He’s honestly been such a big help on days I need someone to take care of sevyn even if it’s last minute

Aaron and Paweena took awesome care of Pele. The pups had tons of safe space to play outside, and I felt 100% confident in their care, knowing my dog was being treated like one of their own. Pele loved his stay. Would recommend 10/10, and will definitely be going back!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Takoma Park commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
