“Olivia was just absolutely phenomenal with Ogee. She was very patient with her the first day we left (when Ogee was still warming up) and just did a wonderful job all around caring for our pup and keeping us in the loop. I’d highly recommend Olivia as a pet sitter and would work with her again in the future without hesitation. Thanks again for everything!”

“As always, Idit took wonderful care of our cat Presley while we were out of town! She gave him lots of playtime and snuggles during her visits, and we came home to a happy cat.”

“Joe was friendly and capable, and was the ideal companion for my cat over the 4th of July weekend. The photos he sent each checkin showed my cat having a great time, which was a big relief to my partner and I on vacation. 10/10 would book again!”
“Sharmily is super nice! Really helped me a lot esp. when my litter robot was not working! She sent me pics of my cat to ease my nerves while traveling even tho my cats are very skittish and it was difficult to catch a photo of them. Thank you so much Sharmily! Will definitely book again next time esp. now you live closer by :)”

“Meredith is highly responsible, and has successfully taken care of my cat who has become quite sassy (and hissy) toward pet sitters. I am so grateful that she has been able to work with us, even though I know her visits to see Luna are not easy. You're my hero Meredith!”

“Jocabet is the best! We had her check in on our pup while I was out of town for a work trip. She was prompt in responding to messages, accommodating of our schedule, sent great photos, and gave us peace of mind that our puppy was well cared for during the long work days. We'll absolutely book her again.”

“Kaitlin was great! She came a week prior to the visits to do a meet our dogs and was very prompt. We’ll definitely have her look in on our pups again in the future!”

About: Hi! I've had dogs my entire life and have plenty of experience walking and caring for pets. I'm also comfortable caring for cats and will treat your pets with the same love and attention I'd give my own. You can count on me to provide reliable, compassionate care while you're away. I currently work full time, with the flexibility of working from home three days a week. I'm available to care for your pets in the mornings, evenings, and on weekends, and I have additional availability on my work-from-home days to provide extra attention and care. Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I'll follow your care instructions closely, provide plenty of attention and affection, and make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and well cared for.
“Allison was great with our two cats and even the shy one warmed up to her in record time. We were nervous about leaving them so soon after moving back to DC, but she checked on them twice a day and sent lots of photos, so we knew they were well taken care of!”

“Steve and Jesse were great pet sitters and took such good care of our cat Kodak. They took lots of pictures and left very detailed care notes after each drop in visit. Kodak was well fed, groomed, and engaged with during the entire time we were away. I highly recommend Steve and Jesse and will definitely be using their services in the future.”

“Keaton is truly a great cat sitter that I cannot recommend enough to others! Whether it's communication, attention to detail, taking photos/videos, or their natural ability to work with kitties, Keaton excelled in every aspect.”

“Leo was great with Hemingway and adapted well to his special needs (inhaler). He was punctual and communicative and I would definitely use him again!”

About: I’ve taken care of my neighbors dogs since i was 11. My first job was a dog walker/sitter but i just liked being able to play with pets. Overtime that evolved into me taking care of my friends’ pets (cats, dogs, birds, fish, plants…) when they went out of town. I set and stick to schedules so they get the timely care and attention they need. I also send texts/facetime/pictures updates to pet owners I work from home full time with minimal meetings so i can take lots of breaks to drop-in, house sit, play, walk and feed. There are currently no time restrictions on my end so your pet can have the attention they need! If boarding in my home, i have toys and a pet area. There are no hazardous materials (hard corners, noises, cleaning products) or food laying around. I also have an open floor plan so they wouldn’t be cramped and bored.
“Chloe was wonderful to my two kitties, making sure to spend time with them alongside feeding/litter help along the way. I really appreciated her daily updates and getting plenty of pics of my babies! I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter in the NW DC area”

“Noah did a fantastic job caring for my cats over the holidays; an American Shorthair and a Sphinx. He sent pictures for each visit. Our Sphynx is very friendly, but our Shorthair is typically scared of new people. She was sitting on Noah's knee in one of the pictures!”

“Thank you so much Erin for watching my cat Ponzi! Erin was super responsive, sent great photos, and followed his routine perfectly! It was very enjoyable to work with Erin and I appreciated her last-minute help and how my apartment was just as a I left it. Ponzi seemed so happy and I felt confident that he was well taken care of :)”

“Lo did a great job taking care of our geriatric zoo - above and beyond in a snow storm, 3 different medication regimens, and ensuring our fur babies were happy and well cared for.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Takoma Park
Syd was amazing with my two furbabies while we were on our vacation. She cared for one very active and high energy dog along with a senior dog that isn’t getting around much. Both have very different care needs and Syd was able to accommodate both. All updates and pictures were timely and she even highlighted changes she noticed in my senior dog for my awareness. I absolutely recommend Syd for your
Joelle and Andrew fully lived up to their 5 star rating! They were excellent with our anxious Queso from the initial moments of our meet/greet all the way through our vacation. We so appreciate the connection they established with Queso, the consistent updates on his walks and wellbeing and their attentiveness to all details. We will definitely use them again!

We booked Quantairra pretty last minute before a trip. She came the next day to meet us and our cat, Cash. She was attentive and we felt good about leaving Cash in her hands! Quantairra sent us photos and a helpful report in each Rover report, which we really appreciated, and Cash was doing great when we got back. She also cleaned up a couple messes for us which we really appreciate. Thanks Quantairra!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
