“Monique provided truly excellent care and attention to my 2 (challenging) dogs while house sitting for the past 5 days! So thankful for her patience while getting to know the dogs and establishing trust with each of them.”

About: I took care of dogs and cats of all ages and health conditions. Administered pills and injections including insulin and subcutaneous fluids. No empty promises, just good service. I will communicate properly and timely. My work schedule is flexible and I am about to become empty nester. I work remotely and can do it from anywhere with internet access. I can follow your instructions precisely and provide feedback, photos and updates. I will play, walk, feed and comfort your pet so they feel loved.
“Libby was great with our two dogs. One is blind and one is still in the process of house breaking. Both are so shy. She was able to win them over and support potty training! They just loved her. She sent pictures every day. She also took excellent care of our home while we were away. She’s all around an excellent choice and would highly recommend to anyone. Thank you Libby!!”

“Emma sat with our two cats and two dogs and took excellent care of them. When we arrived home they were happy and not stressed which for them is HUGE! We look forward to working with her moving forward!”

“Beth was fantastic! I have a very clingy dog with separation anxiety and he fell in love with her. She left my house in great shape too. Would 100% recommend and will be using her again in the future.”

“This was my first time booking with Melinda and she exceeded all our needs, especially when my dog had a bad day health wise. I took the longest vacation in my adult life and overseas as well, she gave me peace of mind I needed to enjoy my trip. 1000% would rebook and recommend her wholeheartedly.”

“Kayleigh did a great job taking care of my doggos Chubbs + Reade! We got multiple text and photo updates throughout her time with them and had no worries while she was with them.”
“Perry is the best! She sends videos and pictures so you can love on your baby from afar! Our dog had the best time with her and we know she was well taken care of and loved! We will definitely be using her again!”

“We can't say enough great things about Rasha. She keeps us up to date, and sends lots of pictures. The way she talks about our dog shows us that she is not only taking care of her, but that she generally cares about her. That is such a comfort. She takes great care of the house too. We come home to a tidy house and a happy dog. She even thoughtfully offered to water the outdoor planters.”

“Olga was very caring with our senior dog, and very responsive. She sent updates and pictures everyday so we always know how our little babies were doing! Our dog is currently in the middle of cancer treatment so her care and comfort was paramount to us and to her. We are so grateful for that. Only complaint is that our cat’s litter box was not cleaned regularly, and he began peeing on other things in response. We did not remind her to do this so we will take partial responsibility but the smell was very strong and it was clear it hadn’t been cleaned. Otherwise, we would absolutely have Olga back due to the peace of mind we had while she was watching our fur babies!”

“I can't say enough good things about Sanya! After an initial meeting with us, she came and stayed with our two anxious rescue dogs. I think her calm presence and demeanor was so comforting for them (and us!) They seemed to warm up quickly and were cuddled up on the couch with her in no time. She was very communicative with us throughout our trip, with pictures and updates, which allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our trip knowing our babies were in such good hands. Thank you so much, Sanya! We look forward to booking with you again!”

“Preston was great with both of our dogs! He was really knowledgeable with how to care for our senior dog and handle his medication and was available on pretty short notice! We’ll definitely want to rebook next time we go out of town.”

About: I've have helped out with my family, friends, and Neighbors cats and dogs for about five years. I have experience with walking, feeding, and care taking for large dog breeds, spunky cats, and extremely anxious pets. Thus, I can support animals with all different types of needs! I am currently teleworking full time during the day (typically 8-4), but am available for lunch time playtime and walks. I am available to help on most weekends when out of town or in the evenings when life gets busy. Since I telework, my schedule is fairly flexible! Since I have experience with different types of pets, I am well suited to support your animal in the right way. I have two German Shepard dogs which require skill and responsibility to handle, along with an anxious pup who has particular needs. If instructions are left, I know how important it is to follow them to protect the animals and myself.
“Ken watched my pups for a week while I was away. He was amazing. He kept me informed daily of their activities. He sent pics. He definitely made me able to relax and enjoy the trip knowing that the pups are in good hands! Definitely will be calling Ken again.”

“Vinnie was great! He sent pictures of our dog (she looked very happy) to update us on how she was doing. We could tell she had a great time with him. He also was very respectful of our space and kept it in good condition while we were gone. Would highly recommend Vinnie to anyone for pet/house sitting.”

“Almedra is such a sweet heart, she took a very good care of our dogs, sent us adorable pictures and kept us updated the whole time she was here. Is was so clear how happy the dogs were with her. We will be definitely be using her services again in the future!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Ashburn
Corinne was so amazing with our anxious boy, we could not recommend her enough and look forward to the next time she sits for Hobbes! This was our first time using Rover so we were a bit nervous. From offering a meet and greet where she answered all our questions and listened to our (slightly anxious) directions about how to care for Hobbes to watching Hobbes with such great care these past few days and giving us regular video / photo updates, exercising and playing with him lots, ensuring he had plenty of treats, pets, and food - she was amazing! She also left our home in such a clean condition. Thanks again for caring for Hobbes so well, Corinne!

i’m so grateful for Monique for watching my dog Max for the weekend on a short notice request. She was very communicative, followed instructions and kept the house clean while she was watching my dog. She even offered to stay a little longer on the last day and made my bed with clean sheets for when I return. Super sweet, super helpful and definitely very reliable!

Preston was absolutely fantastic! He took amazing care of Winter, and kept us updated throughout the stay with photos and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. He made sure she got plenty of walks, playtime, and attention, and it was clear he genuinely cared about her. He even went above and beyond by bringing in a temperature sensitive package and putting everything away for us without hesitation. We came home to a happy, relaxed dog and a well-cared for home. We highly recommend Preston and would absolutely book with him again!

We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! She was absolutely amazing—attentive to every one of our dogs’ needs and incredibly communicative throughout our entire trip. She kept us updated, which gave us such peace of mind while we were away. Most importantly, it was clear that she genuinely cared about our dogs and treated them as if they were her own. We came home to happy, well-cared-for pups, and we are so grateful! Truly the best sitter we’ve ever used. We would recommend her to anyone and will absolutely be using her again!

Emma was GREAT! We have two dogs and two cats and we’re gone for 9 days so there a lot for her to take on. We came home to a clean and tidy space and happy pets. Emma is communicative, helpful with the random needs and requests that came, responsive when we checked in. She sent us updates and photos so we knew they were in great hands. When you’re hiring someone to sit with your babies in your home it requires a lot of trust. Emma lived up to our expectations and hopes. I am so grateful we met her. I HIGHLY recommend Emma for housesitting and pet care!

Sydney was great. She took care of our two pups for eight days. One of which is sweet but reactive to dogs she does not know. We asked her to stay an extra day so we could spend one more night at the beach and she reorganized her schedule....she if very nice to work with.

We've had Hilary stay with our 105-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback at our house several times now, and this was the second time she watched him while we were traveling overseas. Leaving for an international trip is stressful enough, so having someone we completely trust made a huge difference. She always follows our care instructions, takes great care of our dog, and keeps us updated with messages and photos throughout the stay. She's quick to respond, flexible if plans change, and always treats our home with respect. We never have to worry about either our dog or our house when she's there. The biggest sign of how great she is is how much our dog loves her. During one night while we were away, a storm came through, and he was scared. Instead of pacing around the house, he wanted to sleep in the bedroom with her, which says a lot about how comfortable and safe he feels with her. We feel completely at ease leaving both our dog and our home in her care. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy, and genuinely caring sitter.

We have had Rachel watch our two dogs at our house a couple times now and I really couldn’t say enough good things about our experiences with her. One of our dogs is mostly blind in one eye and needs multiple rounds of medications/eye drops which she has been able to give him without issue. We are so grateful for the ease we feel while we are away when she is watching them, knowing they are in good hands!

Ellie was a wonderful sitter. We were a little worried at first, as Ellie is younger than the usual sitters we have, but she surpassed our expectations! Both our cat and dog were very relaxed; Ellie ensured that both our pets were comfortable. It's tough enough to manage one pet, so the fact that Ellie was able to manage both our pets together proves her competence. We will definitely be hiring Ellie again in the very near future 🐶😺

We had an excellent experience with Carleigh as our in-home dog sitter. She stayed in our home and took wonderful care of our dog Ginger, providing plenty of love, attention, and companionship. It was clear from the start that she genuinely cared, and the bond she formed with our girl was amazing to see. Ginger was happy, relaxed, and clearly adored spending time with Carleigh. Knowing our dog was being cared for by someone so trustworthy and affectionate gave us tremendous peace of mind while we were away. I would highly recommend Carleigh to anyone looking for a caring and dependable dog sitter.

Polly is wonderful with Lenny. She understands his wishes to run away and keeps him close and tight so he is safe. They had happy walks together Lenny enjoyed Polly’s son who even had Lenny singing/howling with him. I love having Lenny stay with Polly. I know he will be safe and happy

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ashburn walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ashburn maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ashburn choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
