I can come to you for pick up!Springfield, VA

My husband and I both grew up with dogs, so the number of years of experience is a bit of a misnomer. We've had dogs of our own as part of our now nuclear family of five for about five years, but both of our families growing up always had dogs (we just weren't 100% responsible for them). Most recently we rescued a (senior) lab more than a year ago from City Dog Rescue, and installed a 4-foot high fence for her to have a safe place to roam. But she is older and pretty mellow, so she doesn't really take as much advantage of our spacious yard as she could! We have rescued several dogs over the years, so we have likely dealt with any issues you may have experienced with your own dogs (to include shyness, excessive "feistiness" and dog reactivity). We are flexible and understand plans change, and just want to try to help out fellow dog owners as we know owning them can be pricey!

I have travel crates for both small and large (up to about 80-90 lbs) dogs, so I can come to you if necessary. I don't work outside of the home because of our youngest kiddo, so your dog would have companionship much of the day, save the hour or two of errands here and there. We will respect your own dog rules (etc. while our own dog is trained not to sit on furniture, we allow other dogs on the couch/bed, etc if that is what they are used to).

Our dog is a little picky and takes more warming up to larger dogs, which is why we only host smaller/medium-sized dogs. She just requires a slow, proper introduction. Smaller dogs do not tend to pose an issue for her.

Please note that since we do have young children, we cannot accept dogs that have shown aggression toward children.

Warm Colonial Home Welcome All PupsAnnandale, VA

Hi everyone! We are a recently married couple who just bought a single family home in Annandale. We absolutely love dogs and our own just recently passed away. We aren't ready to rescue another but we thought we would ease ourselves in the process by looking after other dogs!

Let me tell you a little about our family: I work from home Monday - Friday and will be the main caretakers of the pups. I generally take the pups out for a walk in our local park, Holmes Run Park, three times a day. If your dog isn't comfortable with walks, we can let them out in our fully fenced in yard. We live in a single family home so they will have access to the entire house and yard! Belly rubs, TV, radio, and squirrel chasing all inclusive! ;) My husband also works from home two days a week and will help with walks!

Thank you for considering us! We would love to pamper your pup and be a part of their home away from home!

Drop off and pickup times: anytime between 8am - 11pm

I need work!! Walking daily!!!!!!Centreville, VA

I cannot express how grateful I am for you allowing me to care for your pets! My husband, Brian and I are both reliable and take great pride in owning our own business.

We are still in Centreville and looking for property in the “country”.....we will keep you posted if we find a new property with land. With this new property, we want to be able to still have the home away from home feel and offer more for you so you will want to have your dogs stay with us. Open, spaces to run and play...Dog baths, pick up and drop offs, longer dog walks off the beaten path—trails and safe zones. Always on leash unless on our fenced in property. And offer open spaces for sleep—trying to get away from crating dogs at night, but still trying to figure out how to make sure safety is #1 priority. We ultimately want a home away from home experience.

Please help us stay alive until then, we are so worried that we will lose our clients and have to start over completely.

We are hoping to be in new place by June 2021, Then you better believe I will be back to fostering pups, boarding and dog daycare! I cannot wait to be back in business at my new location. Please tell your friends and family about us, we are always open to discuss anything you have questions about or any worries you may have. Also, what a pleasure it will be to have you come visit and see our new place. I imagine we need a King size bed for all the dogs...they all like to sleep in our bed. ❤️

Sending much love to you and your family. YOU all have made me successful. ❤️

Away from Home Heaven for your Dog!Ashburn, VA

Our family lives in a single house at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. It has a nice fenced in backyard with lots of grass to run and 2 self closing gates. The rear one opens to the neighborhood walking trails. It also has a large upper deck (best squirrel/rabbits "watch tower" ever). Its gate when closed allows for that space to become a free roaming extension of the kitchen. There is no carpeting on the main (beside a few rugs) and 2nd level so it is easy to keep our floors sanitary in case of accidents.

Nutella is our 8 year old female Airedale (approx. 50lb). We adopted her 7 years ago from a rescue group. She is playful and looking forward to meeting her new playmate! Bring your dog's favorite toys and bed/crate or use ours. She doesn't mind! No extra charge for playtime in our household for sure.

She gets 2 daily walks of around 1/2h either with me or our 2 college kids when they are home. My husband takes over on the weekend for much longer ones. They like to exercise together!

I have a part time job with the summer off and my husband works most days from home. We understand that dogs don't like to be alone and always keep those times to a minimum. When it happens, Nutella has free range of the first floor and our master bedroom even though she is also crate trained.

Over the years we have hosted many of our friends' dogs and I always believed this is the best environment for our pets while traveling and being away. A home away from home. I was so pleased to find a website and service which promotes that philosophy for pet owners in our area. Our experience with DogVacay and now Rover is growing and we have been enjoying every minute of it! Lots of dogs have come through our doors these past 4+ years and repeat customers are the best as we get to see our favorite dogs again.

Cant wait to get to know your pet and make him/her part of our family!

I am Rachel, I grew up having dogs in my home since I was born. I started dog sitting 6 years ago. I would love to have the opportunity to help care for your pet. I do have two human children. They both love to play with the dogs and feed and water them. My husband also is a big help with the dogs and loves to go for nice long walks with them in the evenings before bed. I can handle multiple dogs at a time even if they are not from the same family. Flexible, Professional Pet LoverTyson's Corner, VA

I am a lifetime pet owner and would love to take care of your pet while you're away. I've taken care of cats, dogs, lizards, fish, and I'm comfortable with just about any critter. I understand that pets are members of the family and that it makes many pets feel more comfortable to be cared for in their own homes, and I'm willing to travel in the DC metro area to take care of your pet. I live in Arlington with my dog, Patty the Puggle. My service range spans the DC metro area and I am usually available for holidays.

I have experience caring for dogs and cats of all sizes and energy levels, as well as special needs and senior animals. I have adopted every dog I have ever had, many with unique health or behavioral conditions, and several of my pets over the years have taken regular oral medication. I'm very understanding of each animal's differences and needs and can accommodate accordingly. I am happy to discuss your pet's needs and habits in more detail.

When I take care of your pets, you can be sure that I will treat them like family. Whether your dog is used to long walks, short potty breaks or afternoons in the dog park, my goal is to make sure they're happy and healthy while you're away.

I am also happy to care for other pets if you happen to have non-canine companions. Note that for cats, the rate is $20 per visit (non-holidays) with an additional $5 charge per additional cat. Rates for additional dogs are listed on the rate summary. Rates for other pets can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Contact me for more information or to set up a time to chat about your pets' needs.

First-time clients are also eligible for a discount on their first stay. Contact me for details!

Other info about me: my mom is a professional rally/agility trainer and one of my dogs has served as a therapy dog.

Active, stay-at-home dog mom!Woodbridge, VA

My husband and I are natives to Northern Virginia. My professional training is in Health & Fitness. We've both been athletes our whole lives, are extremely active, and love caring for different animals! Our pup loves meeting new friends. In the event that we host your pup in our home, you can feel at ease, as our pup is trained and certified as a Canine Good Citizen by the American Kennel Club. Taking care of our animal friends is my full-time responsibility, and I couldn't be happier doing it. My husband, Eric, works full time, but happily involves himself in the care of the animals too.

*Experience:

In 2014, we started caring for our familiy’s and neighbors' dogs in the various places that we've lived. We rescued our mixed breed, female Eva in April 2015 at 9 months old. We've enjoyed caring for animals so much that it was only natural for us to become Rover sitters. Since then, we've cared for many different animals - cats, parrots, fish, and dogs 7 lbs. up to 176 lbs. - from young to seniors with different medical issues, personalities, and needs. I've also cared for fosters in others' homes.

*Special Skills

I am certified in Canine Safety Practices.

We are familiar with special needs: blindness, epilepsy, allergies, convalescent pups, and cats and dogs with separation anxiety/nervousness.

Our dog suffers from seizures; we have extensive knowledge on how to manage them.

We have worked with Sit Means Sit to train our dog, and we can provide a very calm, assertive demeanor to make everyone feel comfortable.

Our dog has been on a raw diet since March of 2018. We are knowledgeable with that type of meal plan as well as any other unique dietary needs.

** The boring, but important details**

BOARDING & DOGGY DAYCARE:

We appreciate that you value our time and our other pup parent's time as much as we value yours. Drop off/pickup times are arranged in advance to the stay so that we can prepare and meet your needs. We strongly prefer that they are by appointment. If needed, we can accommodate time frames of a couple hours. We realize that things happen and will do our best to accommodate any changes. One day is based on a 24 hour period. We give a 2 hour grace period on pickup day to allow for possible delays. (For example, a 9 a.m. drop off up to an 11 a.m. pickup). We are happy to accommodate a later pickup beyond 26 hours for an additional fee.

DOGGIE DAYCARE: It runs for a maximum of 10 hours; please let us know if you need extended care, we may be able to accommodate.

* Our service area for walks, drop-ins, and pickup/drop off is within ~5 miles (driving) of our home (If only pickup or drop off is needed, the fee is $15). We can service further locations on a case-by-case basis for an additional fee.

CANCELLATION POLICY: As much notice as possible is appreciated; Final time frames are:
