Information Mark W. would like to know about your pet
Since we have my daughter's dog (who is very friendly) frequently stay with us for day care, we can't accept any dogs that have social anxiety issues around other dogs.
A typical day
We take the dogs for early morning walks and then another walk after dinner. Some high energy dogs get a mid-day walk too. We also have a huge doggie toy basket which usually keeps them entertained.

Retrievers Retreat!
Pet care experience
I have had four golden retrievers in my lifetime. In 2018 we lost our golden/border collie, that my family loved dearly, after 15 years (kids are grown and gone, so it's just the wife and I here now). When one of our dog owning neighbors came by to offer condolences I asked her if it was OK for me to run with her black lab a couple of times a week, and the owner and dog and I all loved it! It was good therapy for me and scratched that dog itch so to speak. I got to spend quality time with a cool dog but didn’t have the dog food or vet bills to deal with. So from there I heard about rover.com, and it seemed like the next logical step. I’ve retired from my career of over 40 years....and begun my retirement, interacting with new and familiar furry friends. UPDATE 2025: After 7 plus years on Rover now I have a regular group of repeat clients and neighborhood dogs here almost every day. So I’m unlikely to take on any new dog clients. But if you have a golden retriever by all means feel free to ask! 😉
Reviews

Mark and Mariette welcomed our girl into their home. We had a last minute booking and Mark was very responsive. Our lab didn’t settle easily as it was her first stay, and they made sure to give her special walks until she acclimated. She seemed to enjoy herself and their other guests were gentle and sweet doggies. They moved together as a pack through the house in the morning so it was evident that the dogs were all comfortable and welcome. Highly recommend and thank you!

Never have I had a dog sitter so engaged with the dogs. Hudson had such a great time meeting new dogs throughout his stay!! Mark is wonderful!

Mark always takes such good care of Ronie and Osa. The adventures and the constant attention are reasons we love to have Mark watch them!

Mark took great care of my dog Buddy. He sent multiple photos of him with the other dogs at his home and provided regular updates to let us know he was doing well. He was friendly and easy to communicate with. I highly recommend him, your dog is gonna be in good hands.
