“Lauren took such great care of my Teddy while I was out of town. Plenty of walks and play time, he looked so happy in every photo she sent (except for the ones he was peacefully snoozing in). I’d leave Teddy with her again anytime!”

About: I've had pets my whole life and know how much it matters to leave yours somewhere you trust. Your dog will be part of the household here — not crated in a back room — with plenty of attention, a regular routine, and photo updates so you know how the day is going. A few things to know about my setup: I have a yard, but it isn't fenced, so all potty breaks and outdoor time are leashed and supervised. Never off-leash. I have one dog of my own, a friendly female Bernedoodle named Dorothy. She's good with other dogs, and I'm happy to do a meet-and-greet first to make sure everyone gets along. I work from home, so your dog won't be alone for long stretches. Comfortable with puppies, senior dogs with special needs, and everything in between. For walks, I'll stick to whatever route and pace your dog is used to, and I'll let you know how it went. Happy to set up a free meet-and-greet before booking anything. My schedule is completely my own so I can tailor my day to what your dog is used to. Our usual routine is a walk/run in the morning and a walk with the whole family in the evening. Dorothy is crate trained and so can be right next to your dog to keep them company. I have a good sized yard where I can let the dogs out on leashes and a fenced in deck if they want to be outside. I live 5 minutes from an animal hospital and am used to the random ailments that come with taking care of dogs.
“Elena is the greatest. My Scrappy had an extended stay with her and she took such good care of him. We got pictures and videos everyday and he was a happy dog. Highly recommend Elena.”

About: I love dogs. Only dog parents know the special feeling of being loved by a dog. With 8 years of experience being a pet parent, your dog will find a second home at my place. They will be well fed and well taken care of. You can leave him/her with the peace of mind that they are somewhere safe and sound. I have hybrid work schedule. I have a spouse who works from home ensuring that your pet is never left alone and all the needs are met on time. I have a 1275 sq ft apartment with a balcony. Your pet will roam free and will have another pet buddy. They will always have a fresh water available and will be fed as per the dietary restrictions and schedule. They will be taken out for a walk at least 3 times a day with at least an hour walk in the evening.
“Shiva and her family took great care of our dog and you can feel "the passion in the air". We received pictures and Shiva was flexible and kind and I am looking forward to another visit!”

“Katherine has been the absolute best for watching my baby! She takes such good care of him and sticks to his extra care needs. I love that she provides pictures and updates each day! Hes always so happy and comfortable when I arrive to pick him up!”

“Nina is such a great dog sitter, she took good care of our lil Theo. Additionally sends pictures and videos during pet sitting. I would highly recommend her. Thank you Nina for such an amazing job.”

“Omar was easy to work with and took great care of our beagle puppy while we were abroad - especially accommodating a late night pick up after our flight landed a bit later than hoped.”

About: I’ve had or taken care of dogs and other pets since I was a kid, so they have a special place in my heart. I have a sweet 2 year old poodle who is very friendly and energetic, so I understand what goes into training and caring for young dogs as well! I will be sure to treat your pup like my own! I have a 2 year old puppy who keeps me busy, but since I work from home every day but one, it allows for more flexibility and time to spend with your dog! My availability varies based on the week, but would love to work with you if I can! I have a fenced in yard and a two year-old toy/mini poodle, who is very friendly and loves to play! We love going on walks around the block and can have plenty of time outside! I’m comfortable crating your dog if that works best for them, giving meds when needed, and whatever else makes them feel at home!
“Daphne was so sweet with our girl. We always got lots of pictures and great communication from Daphne during our booking. She was very responsive to all of our messages and took great care of Tibbles.”

“Hommer and Hellen are the best! They were very receptive and willing to accommodate even the smallest of requests and they provided ample updates throughout each day of our pets stay for the peace of mind we needed. They are very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make sure that our pets felt comfortable and taken care of during their stay.”

“Ms. Karmen is a dream come true. I could not ask for a more wonderful caretaker for my big boy Clover. She showed Clover so much love and cared for him as if he were her own. I sincerely appreciated all the care shown to Clover. Karmen definitely deserves a 10 + +. Thank you so much Karmen!”

“This is the second time that our pup has stayed with Kiran and we feel at ease knowing that we can travel and not have to worry about anything when it comes to our dog’s care. Kiran does an excellent job!”

“I can't say enough great things about Lauren and her family! She's very caring and communicative, keeping us updated when our pup was suffering a bit of an upset stomach and taking care of him like he was her own.”

Excellent dog walker! Very reliable, caring, and professional. Kisanet treated my dog with so much attention and kindness, and I felt completely comfortable knowing she was in good hands. Communication was great, and she was always dependable and on time. I would definitely recommend Kisanet to anyone looking for someone trustworthy to care for their dog!

Zeryab made the entire pet sitting experience incredibly easy and stress free. When I dropped off my boys, everything was already set up and ready to go, including litter boxes, toys, scratchers, a cozy hammock, and a beautiful window full of wildlife that served as real life "Cat TV." All I had to bring were my boys and their food. It was so easy that it honestly felt like I was forgetting something! My cats are literally my children, and I usually experience a lot of separation anxiety when leaving them with someone for more than a few days, however, Zeryab completely put my mind at ease. She sent photos and videos every day, showing my cats happy, comfortable, and having fun. Those updates gave me so much reassurance that they were being loved and well cared for while I was away. It's clear that Zeryab genuinely cares about the pets she watches and goes above and beyond to make both pets and owners feel comfortable. I would 100% book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and communicative pet sitter.

Cesar and his wife took wonderful care of our dog Mochi for 10 days. We received daily updates and sweet pictures of her playing well with their dog Jasper. Not once did I worry about Mochi, you could tell that she was being very well taken care of and nurtured the whole time. Cesar has a lovely home and a beautiful and spacious backyard for the pups to run around. I am so grateful to have found such wonderful care for Mochi. When I picked her up she was completely happy and freshly cleaned and was honestly sad in the car to leave his place! I trust Cesar and his wife wholeheartedly and am thankful for them!

Christine has watched Scout for the past four years, and we truly couldn’t imagine leaving her with anyone else! She is the absolute best, caring, attentive, and clearly loves Scout like she’s her own. She even goes above and beyond by having new balls to play with, which Scout absolutely loves! 🥹 She always keeps us updated with pictures and messages, so we never have to worry about how she’s doing while we’re away. We feel completely at ease knowing Scout is in such good hands.

Watson loves to stay with Bugra and his partner, and we have complete confidence in them to take excellent care of him. They give him lots of snuggles, take him on regular walks, and send us pictures so we can see how at home he is. We know Watson is in good and caring hands when he stays with them.

Megan and her family took wonderful care of Mochi while we were out of the country. I was definitely nervous about leaving her with someone new, but they immediately put me at ease. Mochi seemed so happy, relaxed, and comfortable when we got home, which says everything. It was clear she was well cared for and loved while we were away.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
