“Xinyi is wonderful, would highly recommend her. She sent pics and videos that were reassuring and we were able to enjoy our vacation. She was very prompt in responding to messages before and during the stay. Thanks Xinyi, really appreciate you taking such great care of Leo.”

“April is fantastic! She took such good care of our dog while we were away for two weeks overseas. She sent regular updates and photos and our dog came home happy and well cared for. April has a great property and Shukie got to spend lots of time outdoors. We will definitely book with April again next time!”

“Carl was a fantastic sitter and took great care of our dog. We have never come home to her so happy after a vacation. We would absolutely recommend Carl, and plan to use him again in the future.”

“Our second time with John and Joanna was another success! Our pup had a bit of diarrhea and Joanna alerted me and also kept me updated on what was being done to help. Also, I booked us to pick our dog up one day too early and didn’t realize it until the day of. Joanna was very gracious and it worked out for them to keep Callie one more day. Whew! I highly recommend these folks if you’re looking for people who will care for your pet as if it’s their own. The daily pics/videos were a nice thing to get too. 5 stars!”

About: I've had a dog in my home my entire life, and am always the one my friends/family turn to if they need someone to look after their pets. I have also fostered multiple dogs with leash reactivity, and have had some 1-1 work with an R+ (positive reinforcement) trainer to ensure pups can have the best experience out and about in the world while still getting their sniffs and exercise in. I occasionally run outside so I can offer to run with your pup(s) 1-2 times a week if you'd like, and I live 5 minutes away from Baron Cameron park if you like for them to play with other pups during the day at a dog park as well. Or of course we can just snuggle most of the day while I work from home. Well either way there will be lots of snuggles and pets... My last dog passed away in 2025 after a year long battle with cancer, so I have no problem giving medicine and making sure we stay on a strict schedule with food/medicine if that is what your dog needs. I look forward to becoming your pup's new best friend! I work part-time from home. I'm available for day-sitting while you're at work or overnight boarding when you're out of town. I'm typically up by 7:30, have a fenced in backyard, go on walks/runs throughout the day and love going to the dog park if your pup enjoys it! I have a 6 foot fence in my backyard that your pup can play around in. Take 2-3 x 25 minute walks around the neighborhood throughout the day and can occasionally go for 30-60 minute jogs if your pup enjoys more exercise (1-2/week)
“Leanna was fantastic with Odin and super flexible with pickup and drop-off. You can tell she really loves dogs and is well prepared for any that could happen. I would definitely recommend her!”
“Kendall pampered our pups with attention. We could not have asked for a better dog sitter. Both our dogs arrived happy and left happier. Daily updates, picture and a send-off gift to boot! Thanks Kendall!”

“Our dog Jessie had a great vacation while staying with Mandana. She was able to run in the fenced yard, bask in the sun on the deck and seems to have been quite happy. Mandana was accommodating and easy to coordinate with, and she also sent photos of Jessie during her stay.”

“Highly recommend! They took great care of Blue and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. Communication was excellent, and it was clear that Blue was well cared for and treated like part of the family. We really appreciated the updates and attention he received. We would definitely book with them again. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Blue!”

“I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for taking such great care of Cody while I was away. We are lucky to have such a wonderful sitter, and I’m so grateful for your help. Thanks again for everything!”

“We left our two Beagles with Mindy for 3 nights, and we couldn’t be happier with the care they received. From the initial meet-and-greet, it was clear Mindy loves animals and knows how to handle energetic pups. She sent daily updates with photos, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away—seeing our dogs happy, well-fed, walked made all the difference. Both dogs came home relaxed, and excited to see us, with no signs of stress. Thanks Mindy!”

“Deborah and her daughter did an excellent job taking care of my golden retriever, Winston. They sent lots of photos and videos and Winston was clearly having a blast playing with with their pup, Lotus. Deborah was kind enough to get Winston pup cups, that he thoroughly enjoyed. I would gladly use them again!”

“As always, Sujan was fantastic! He has been taking care of Buddy when we are away for almost two years now. Buddy has stayed with him for days and weeks at a time, and we always know what he’s up to. Buddy loves going to Sujan’s. Sujan treats him like a king and always comes back home cleaned and happy. We will definitely keep trusting him with our dog for as long as he’s willing to.”

“Poornima was amazing! She helped us out last minute over the weekend and took such good care of our dog. She kept us updated with texts and videos, which made us feel so much better while we had to be away unexpectedly. Our dog looked happy, relaxed, and totally comfortable with her. We’re really grateful for how kind, thoughtful, and reliable she was. We’d happily book with Poornima again and definitely recommend her!”

“Elena and her family are the best. Our dog was blessed with many walks and we were provided tons of pictures and updates. Their home was perfect for our pet during his stay and she was flexible with pick up and drop off. Will use again if able to do so.”

“I had to leave my dog for a week, and I was very worried because he needed to take daily medication. At first, he didn’t take his medicine well, but they patiently cared for him and never gave up. They also sent frequent photo updates, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. I could truly feel that he was safe and in good hands. When he came back home, he was calm and well adjusted a clear sign of the love and care he received. I’m so thankful and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy place to leave their pet.”

Zeryab gave me the best service I’ve ever had on this app, honestly. She was super responsive. Very nice. Easy to work with and plan. I was anxious about boarding my cats but she kept in constant contact and sent photos and videos a lot. She was knowledgeable about cats. She made the whole experience great and my cats warmed up to her so fast. I would 100% use her again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
