“Corey was always very responsive and accommodating. We were delayed on our way home when we missed a connecting flight and Corey stayed an extra day with Duke. He was very happy when I picked him up. I would highly recommend Corey as a sitter.”

“Rosario was amazing with my dog Blaze! She gave him lots of walks, playtime, and activities, and he loved making new friends with her dogs. She treated Blaze like her own and kept me updated with pictures and videos throughout. I felt completely at ease knowing he was so well cared for. Highly recommend!”

“Lindsey was so wonderful! My anxiety riddled guy had a great stay and was able to relax and rest while in her care. I will definitely be reaching out to Lindsey again for future stays and have already passed her name along to several other people! Thank you for taking such great care of my boy Lindsey!”
“This was our first time leaving our dog with Catherine. It was obvious that he was well cared for. We could tell from the pictures that Catherine sent with regularity that he was happy and comfortable in her home. He came home today and settled very nicely right back into his routine. We also appreciated Catherine’s flexibility when our flights changed and we had to add on an extra night. We will definitely be using Catherine’s services again in the future.”

“Jim took great care of our senior dog, Teddy! He sent pictures and responded to any questions or comments I had very quickly. I needed to adjust my pick-up time kind of last minute and Jim was extremely flexible and accommodating. Might be the first time Teddy wasn't super grateful/excited to be home again, which to me indicates Teddy enjoyed his stay at Jim's place. Thanks, Jim!”

“Jona and Henry were absolutely fantastic with our puppy Mochi. I had provided a cheat sheet to help guide them regarding our puppy’s current schedule and temperament and Jona took the time to read it and ask questions. She provided amazing detailed updates and photos of not just our puppy but also his meals. We couldn’t have left Mochi in better hands and we will definitely be leaving him with Jona and Henry again in the future.”

“Amazing sitter. Loved seeing all the photos and videos of Rusty playing with other friends. Good communication and easy to work with. Loved to use your help in the future. Thank you Erika.”

“Henry is a great sitter who was able to accommodate care on short notice for my quirky Golden Koda, who cannot be near another dog as he gets fear reactive; thus he must be the only dog in care. We had a successful meet & greet, and Henry asked a lot of good questions. He communicated and sent pictures regularly and kept me informed about how Koda was doing. I felt comfortable leaving my pup for a doggie staycation while I got to spend a few much-needed days on a trip with some family members. I would not hesitate to have Henry care for Koda again or to recommend him to others.”

“Victoria was amazing with our English Mastiff! She was super friendly, gave daily updates with pictures, and made our big guy feel right at home. It’s not easy finding someone great with giant breeds, but she exceeded all expectations. Highly recommend and will definitely book again!”

“Tamara was an amazing sitter to our two dogs! Both dogs (one a recent rescue) were immediately comfortable with her. She was very responsive and gave us frequent updates so we didn’t have to worry at all about how the dogs were doing. She was also very flexible with our pick up time when our flight was canceled and we got home much later than expected. We will definitely book again in the future!!”

“I am super protective, so it can be anxiety-provoking to leave my boys with anyone, even the best of sitters. They were loved, well cared for, and kept safe, which is all I can ask. Thank you, Leslie!”

“AMAZING. By far our best experience with anyone on Rover! Priscilla was very communicative. Perfect amount of pictures and videos as well as updates on how the stay was going. I could really tell that our girl was getting the care and attention she is used to as well as play time. We have an English bulldog, and anyone with one knows their folds need daily care, and I could see Priscilla gave these areas attention care as well. I would feel most confident and comfortable bringing our girl back to Priscilla without hesitation!”

“Andrew and his family pampered and took fabulous care of Archie! We highly recommend them! It is clear that Archie just adores being with them. We look forward to booking with them again!”

“Joy and her family did a wonderful job taking care of my dog especially after accommodating me on several fronts — including a last minute request and a dog food delivery that never arrived. She was communicative and courteous and followed care instructions to the letter. She has a great backyard with a pool! Her kids are gentle and loving with pets. Would highly recommend and definitely book again!”

“Excellent! Sabine was very easy to work with and gave multiple updates each day. Our little pup ate well there and was happy when she came back home, which are all signs that her care was very good. Would highly recommend.”

“I'm a happy returning client. Wendy thoroughly enjoys her stay with Sonia and John. John provides a lot of updates and photos, and I can relax knowing that she's having a great time.”

“Carrie and Matthew both care so much about your pet - it shows the moment they open the door. After having them watch our dog a handful of times, it feels more like bringing our dog to friends to babysit than anything else. It makes it so much easier to leave knowing that she is in such loving hands.”

Curie very much enjoyed her stay with Natalia and her family again! She got plenty of good walks, treats, and belly rubs - and we appreciated the updates! It’s always so reassuring to see Curie walk right up to her door during drop off. Thank you for taking great care of her!

Serena went above and beyond to make sure our pup felt comfortable and loved during his stay with her. She was incredibly communicative and I felt completely at ease while he was in her care. Serena is truly a dog whisperer and understands what they need and want right off the bat.

Josephine is my go-to sitter! This was my pups third stay with her and it’s so comforting to know they are well cared for when I’m away. After a big storm, Josephine even went over to my house to make sure no big branches fell on the place. She truly goes above and beyond!

I highly recommend Brendan to care for your dog. He is incredibly caring, responsive, and flexible. My dog, Duke, had a wonderful time staying with Brendan and especially loved the long walks. Brendan kept us updated with plenty of pictures, which gave us peace of mind and confidence that Duke was happy, well cared for, and enjoying his stay while we were away.

Henry is a great sitter who was able to accommodate care on short notice for my quirky Golden Koda, who cannot be near another dog as he gets fear reactive; thus he must be the only dog in care. We had a successful meet & greet, and Henry asked a lot of good questions. He communicated and sent pictures regularly and kept me informed about how Koda was doing. I felt comfortable leaving my pup for a doggie staycation while I got to spend a few much-needed days on a trip with some family members. I would not hesitate to have Henry care for Koda again or to recommend him to others.

We had an excellent experience with Chris and Ellen. They were friendly, communicative, and clearly attentive to our senior dog Macy’s needs. We received regular updates, photos, and messages, which gave us real peace of mind knowing Macy was comfortable, cared for, and in such good hands. They have a very friendly dog of their own and you can tell they genuinely love and understand dogs. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful sitter.

Leigh is amazing! She truly loves dogs and welcomes them into her home as if they’re her own. My senior dog wasn’t eating well the first two nights so Leigh paid extra close attention and tried a few tricks to get her to eat and it worked! My dog had a wonderful and relaxing time staying at her home. She also has a big fenced in yard that was perfect for my hound who loves smells. We will absolutely use Leigh again for boarding.

We left Meeko with Tracy for a week while away at the beach and we truly could not have chosen a kinder, more caring sitter. Meeko is a 150 pound sweet malamute boy who enjoys lots of attention and casual walks and my goodness, was he absolutely the center of attention with Tracy! Tracy went above and beyond, walking Meeko many times throughout the day and ensuring he was set up to stay cool and hydrated. She sent many, many updates and photos every day, which our family looked forward to and appreciated greatly. Her home is so welcoming and located close to several wooded paths, so any dog would be in heaven with her! I cannot recommend Tracy enough and Meeko came home happy, comfy, and sleepy. We are lucky to have found such a wonderful, caring person that we know loved our boy as much as we do. Thank you so much, Tracy!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
