“I can't say enough wonderful things about Nicole and her wonderful family! I reached out to Nicole very last minute after finding out our hotel wasn't as accomdating with pets as they had said. Our 3 month old boxer felt very comfortable and so did I from the minute we walked into Nicole's home. I received pictures all throughout Libertys stay of her relaxing, going for walks, running around outside in their wonderful backyard, and playing with the kids! Our family will be contacting Nicole when we are back in the D.C. Area to care for our girl!”

“Michelle and her family took wonderful care of our dog GInger for a week and a half. Michelle regularly sent photos and updates so that I knew that Ginger was doing well. When we picked her up, it was obvious that Ginger was happy and had really enjoyed her time with Michelle and her family. We will definitely rebook next time we're going out of town.”

“Carrie and Matthew truly care about the pets they sit. It was clear from the photos they sent us along with substantive communication during the stay as well as the very happy mood of our dog when we picked her up. 10/10 recommend!”

“If you love your dog, you want this family to pet board/sit while you’re away. Phenomenal to work with. They love animals and it shows with the care they take. I am very particular about what sort of people are allowed to watch my dog (commutative, social, can follow the walking scheduling etc) and they passed with flying colors.”

“Gail took great care of McGee. She made friends with Creagh and still squeaks for him when she sees a similar looking dog. Loved the updates! Would definitely recommend Gail in the future.”

“Gabriela was amazing with Blaze. He came home happy and tired…Gabriela sent lots of pictures and we could see the fun Blaze was having. Would definitely board with Gabriela again.”
“Kimberly was a great sitter! I was nervous to leave my dog for the first time but she put any fears at ease. She was communicative and it’s obvious our pup had a blast!”

“You can tell that Melissa is a dog lover from the moment you meet her! Her fenced in backyard was my dog’s dream play area! She sent me several pictures over the course of our trip and also got my lazy girl to go on a walk!”

“Asia is very flexible and responsive. We received many updates and pictures from her while we were away and our boy Jacamo seemed like he had a great time with his new doggy friends. He came back happy and tired. We will definitely use her again.”

“Jennifer was amazing with Forest. We got daily updates with some great photos. Forest looked like he enjoyed his time and came back home nice and sleepy. Jennifer seems very experienced and comfortable around new dogs. She even worked on Forest’s “squirling.” Couldn’t have had a better first experience.”

“Nicole took such good care of my big boy for a week while I was out of the country on vacation. She provided great photos and updates throughout. My pup had an upset stomach the first night due to stress of not being with us for the first time ever and she went out of her way to make him chicken and rice to calm his stomach and give him some probiotic as well (all with my permission of course to make sure he didn’t have allergies). Nicole is very attentive and modified her approach to my pupper based on his activity level and how he was feeling. Any time I need a sitter, Nicole is my go-to.”

“Mariel was fantastic. We knew our Minnie was in good hands. We received daily pictures and updates showing us how quickly Minnie settled in to her routine at their house. We knew she was being showered with love while we were away. Awesome experience! We would highly recommend Mariel as a pet sitter.”

“We've had various dog sitters and left our pup at a kennel several times. Sidnei is, by far, the best option. She was attentive to our dog, patient when he growled at her sweet dog Rio and tried to eat his food 😬, and very communicative with us. She sent lots of pictures and replied right away via text. We will definitely be requesting her again!”

“We are so thankful for Yolismal! I have peace of mind knowing our sweet dog will be well cared for when we have to go out of town. She sends video and pictures, and does a great job caring for our pup!”

“Adita was just fabulous taking care of my dogs for almost 5 days! I have never left them alone ever and this was my first time but she was so reliable and kept me out of worrying for my pups. She and her family took care of both my dogs. Best part was she kept sending me videos and pictures and also updates for my dogs food, walk and naps. I will definitely be trusting her again with my pups. She's simply the best.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West Springfield
I had such a positive experience with Jessica. She kindly accepted Shanti on very short notice, and from the moment I dropped him off, I felt he was in caring hands. She kept me updated with messages and photos, which made being away from him so much easier. Jessica was attentive, communicative, and flexible, including accommodating our drop off/pickup time. Shanti came home calm, happy, and very much himself, which is always the best sign that he was comfortable during his stay. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Jessica again. Thank you for taking such good care of my boy! 🐾

Carlos was wonderful with our 14 year old beagle-bassett, providing great care and keeping us updated with many pictures. He is very caring and maintains a positive environment for his dogs, giving us peace of mind while we were away. We will definitely go back and highly recommend Carlos to others in the Northern VA area.
Erin is fantastic. During lokis stay,my dog had a brief scuffle with another dog over a toy,but Erin stepped in immediately and she managed the situation safely. She gave me great updates, took wonderful care of my dog and I couldn't be more grateful for her patience.

Clay and Melissa went above and beyond with Beau and Cooper. They sent photos and updates every day, and when it was time to go home, they both resisted. Cooper would not get in the car.and stared out the window as we pulled away. We are grateful for Melissa and Clay’s loving care.

This is Ato's first time stay with Amanda and he absolutely loved staying with her. Not only did Amanda updated me with daily pictures and comments, but she also accommodated Ato's every need. Ato is a very shy dog, but the fact that he allowed Amanda to give him belly rubs says it all. I will definitely have Amanda in mind whenever I need a dogsitter in the future.

I am so thankful for the abundance of amazing energy that LuLu received during her stay. Constant communication, updates, photos, warm greeting, questions and care at drop off, were all apart of our first experience. I will surely rebook and be a returning satisfied customer.

Last minute I needed a new booking (16 hrs before my out of town vacation) Daniela and her family stepped in and I couldn’t be happier! My spitfire had an amazing time and was so comfortable. Georgie can be a handful and they stepped up and provided her the best week! I am happy to use them again on my next trip!

Chris was great with our dogs. Our younger one Rumi was spending her first time away from us or family. By the end of the stay she was all pals with Chris and even giving him kisses. Our older one Meru is picky with her food and Chris was nice enough to send us updates on her eating schedules to put our minds at ease. Chris has a very calm way with the dogs and helped our dogs with their anxiety. He was prompt with updates every day. Our dogs love to play fetch and run around and Chris was great in giving them that exercise. Thanks Chris ! We would definitely board our dogs again in the future.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
