“We needed someone to care for Cooper, our 11 month old beagle puppy for six days while my wife and I went on a trip and I couldn't have asked for a better sitter than Melissa - on a scale of 1-10, I would give her an 11. Her home is very dog friendly with a large fenced back yard that allows ample space to run and play. She has two wonderful dogs that were perfect play companions for our puppy. She took Cooper out every day, either to walk along forest paths and streams adjacent to her house or to our local dog park. She sent pictures every day and kept us continuously informed of how Cooper was doing. Basically she created an environment that made Cooper part of her family for the time he was there - so much so that I joked he wouldn't want to come home after the great time he was having with her. I would highly recommend her for anyone that wants a caring, loving environment for their dog while they are away.”

“Mariel and her family were lovely. We received daily updates with pictures and videos. They took Remy on all sorts of fun adventures, entertained him with new toys and gave him lots of snuggles. Our pup is our baby and we would happily use Mariel again in the future.”

“My dogs seemed happy, which tells me they were well cared for! We got updates and photos daily, which put us at ease. I’d recommend Miguelina and her family for your beloved pets. Our dogs have chicken broth on their food daily. We forgot to bring it with us, and her daughter Lindsay even went out to buy some for our pups.”
“This was Audrey's first overnighter, and I was a nervous puppy momma, but I can't say enough good things about Vincent. He is a true dog lover, and I'm lucky I found a sitter I can trust 100% with my pup. Audrey can sometimes suffer from separation anxiety, but she was so comfortable with Vincent that she made his home her home. Vincent sent many darling pictures, videos, and updates, so I was never concerned how she was doing in her new environment. His attention to her, and to me, set my mind at ease and really shows what a loving and professional attitude Vincent has toward his work as a dog sitter. I'm so happy I found someone I can trust. I'm booking Audrey for an extended stay with Vincent later this year, and I feel 100% confident in doing so.”

“Molly was very well cared for and because of the many pictures I received I saw how she was pampered. She is a very happy little dog. If/when I need boarding for Molly I will definitely request Hyunbang P.”

“Lauren and her bf were amazing with our dogs! They were so kind and accommodating. Lauren is very responsive and sent me an update, not too long after we dropped them off, that our pups were doing well. I could definitely tell the dogs had a good time and felt comfortable. They were so tired when we picked them up. Lauren was also very patient and understanding with our puppy. We will definitely continue booking with them for future trips! :)”

“Carrie and Matthew were absolutely amazing! They were able to watch our pup on short notice and couldn’t have been more kind and accommodating. They were incredibly communicative throughout the entire stay, sending regular updates and tons of adorable photos. It gave us such peace of mind knowing our dog was in such caring hands. We highly recommend them and will definitely be reaching out again for any future pet-sitting needs!”

“Helena and Nathan took great care of Tokki while we were out of the state for a week and a half. They sent daily pictures, and I could tell they made feel Tokki feel right at home and he had a great time. Thanks again!”

“Ollie has the best time with Donna and always comes back so happily tired! And we love all the adorable updates she sends. Ollie is excited to head back to Donna’s next week for more fun!!”

“We were traveling and planned a last minute stop in DC and Mount Vernon. Cameron was able to watch our Luna for 2 nights while we got to enjoy the city and not worry about Luna and the heat. Plus, Luna had other 4 legged friends to hang with. Would definitely recommend and thank you for taking great care of Luna.”

“Incredibly responsive and very easy to work with. Flexible with what I needed and willing to work with me to ensure my dog was well taken care of. If I could provide one point is they take on multiple pets at one time. Plus I believe they have two of their own but im not certain. If you have a pet that requires a lot of attention such as a puppy, my recommendation would be to verify how many pets they plan to have while yours is with them. Ensure your pet is social with other animals and is prepared. Other than that, excellent service!”

“Our pup gets so excited staying with Jill & Michael. They are quick to respond and they send us daily updates & photos. Daisy always looks like she’s enjoying herself, and making herself at home. She loves going there.”

“Vronnie was super nice and she sent me pictures daily and updated me about Tico , her place was very clean and she took Tico daily for walks , Tico was happy and well taken care of when he was away from me .I trust Vronnie and will use her service again when Tico needs a pet sitter. Thank you, Vronnie !”

“Fantastic stay! So happy to have found a trusted caregiver for out little Tequila. Kattia was a treat to work with, she sent pics and videos, and Tequila was genuinely happy when we picked her up. Thank you!!”

“Definitely will be rebooking with Garrett and Ana! You can tell from the first meet and greet that they love animals and they took such good care of Teddie. They sent pictures throughout the week and kept me well informed. I felt 100% comfortable with them and Teddie can’t wait for his next visit.”

“Khristie was excellent with my dog Goose who is somewhat needy and shy. He was immediately comfortable around her and she took great care of him. He had a ton of quality cuddle and play time. Can’t thank you enough!”

“This was Jif’s first stay for multiple nights with Erin. She provided lots of updates & great pictures. Jif came home just as happy, if not happier than when I had dropped him off.”
“Henry is a great sitter who was able to accommodate care on short notice for my quirky Golden Koda, who cannot be near another dog as he gets fear reactive; thus he must be the only dog in care. We had a successful meet & greet, and Henry asked a lot of good questions. He communicated and sent pictures regularly and kept me informed about how Koda was doing. I felt comfortable leaving my pup for a doggie staycation while I got to spend a few much-needed days on a trip with some family members. I would not hesitate to have Henry care for Koda again or to recommend him to others.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West Springfield
Yan is absolutely wonderful. She took excellent care of my senior cat, Molly, while we went on a family vacation. She shared (really lovely) updates, pictures, and videos throughout. After each update, I was like - yup, that's Molly! It felt great to know she was in good hands and comfortable enough to play and be her normal self. Yan's home is also a cat's paradise. You don't need to bring extra scratch pads, mats, and toys (like I did!). She has lots of enrichment activities and chill spots set up. I look forward to booking again. :)

Abby provided a dedicated room for our kitties with a cat tree, lots of hideaways and cat toys. She had lickable treats to help the kitties get in their carriers when it was time to go. She sent us pictures of our cats once during their 2.5 day stay. She communicated her schedule clearly.

We highly recommend Erika! We started with a meet-and-greet, and both Wishbone and Jack warmed up to her immediately. Wishbone is usually very shy with new people, but he felt safe enough to sniff her and lick her leg right away. They just finished an overnight boarding stay at her house, and it was a wonderful experience. Erika kept her promise and sent us photo and video updates, which gave us great peace of mind. Both dogs looked completely relaxed and happy when we picked them up. We will definitely be booking Erika for boarding again
As always, Carlos took wonderful care of Abby which included my being delayed in returning home due to the fires in Canada and northern Michigan. He was understanding and supportive as I worked through airline changes as well as delays and as expected he continued to care for Abby as if there were no problems in doing so in spite of the extra days. His daily photos confirm that he loves his job and his 4-legged friends and I am very pleased to have found him and so is Abby!

I had such a positive experience with Jessica. She kindly accepted Shanti on very short notice, and from the moment I dropped him off, I felt he was in caring hands. She kept me updated with messages and photos, which made being away from him so much easier. Jessica was attentive, communicative, and flexible, including accommodating our drop off/pickup time. Shanti came home calm, happy, and very much himself, which is always the best sign that he was comfortable during his stay. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Jessica again. Thank you for taking such good care of my boy! 🐾

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
