“Veronica was very quick to respond and provided a nice backyard with plenty of other friends for Peanut to play with. Peanut settled in quickly and clearly had a blast. We loved seeing the pictures of Peanut playing in the backyard.”

“Helena is so kind and responsive. She watched Charlie for 8 days and sent us pics/videos of Charlie’s daily walks and of Charlie having fun with her little dog.We also truly appreciated that she only took care of one dog at a time, so Charlie’s bed came back clean and didn’t have other pet hair. I would absolutely entrust Helena with Charlie again for a long term stay.”

“Asia was amazing! She has perfect communication, sent lots of photos and updates, and was so kind. She made sure mochi felt at home and was definitely pup ready. I will be using her again. If you are looking for a dog sitter look no further.”

“Rebecca boarded our pup for a week. She communicated well, sent pictures, and asked questions about feeding schedules when our pup wasn’t eating. We knew our pup was in good hands!”

“Tamara was wonderful and worked with my sweet pup who’s had anxiety and made him so comfortable and happy in her home! We got all the updates and sweet photos and she was so wonderful daily with communication! Sam is excited to go back and hang out!! ☺️”

“Rebeca cared for my two, beloved dogs for 8 days and did a fastastic job. My dogs ate well, enjoyed her back yard, and had no problems in her care. The photos she sent were adorable/heart-warming. Rebeca is a loving, kind person and her care of my pets was loving and kind. I recommend her to anyone looking for an excellent dog sitter.”

“Jennifer, Li and JJ were absolutely amazing! Odis loved them so much! Jennifer saved us for our weekend away as our original sitter had to cancel unfortunately. She was responsive, kind, professional and funny! I knew the second I met her and Li that Odis would be in great hands. JJ is so, so sweet and after meeting him, I knew Odis would get along with him and learn a thing or two! Lol. Thank you, Jennifer and Li for all your help! We look forward to bringing Odis back in the future! 💕”

“We were traveling and planned a last minute stop in DC and Mount Vernon. Cameron was able to watch our Luna for 2 nights while we got to enjoy the city and not worry about Luna and the heat. Plus, Luna had other 4 legged friends to hang with. Would definitely recommend and thank you for taking great care of Luna.”

“Ada is absolutely wonderful! She helped us at last minute and was so welcoming and accommodating. She kept us updated the entire time with pictures and messages. I felt very comfortable and at ease trusting my fur baby with her. So happy we found her!”

“Ollie has the best time with Donna and always comes back so happily tired! And we love all the adorable updates she sends. Ollie is excited to head back to Donna’s next week for more fun!!”

“The meet and greet went great so I booked a night prior to a longer stay to help my dog get used to a new place. The family was very accommodating of this last minute request and Reece had a fantastic stay! I got to see pictures with a check in of how his day was going which I loved. I look forward to Reece’s next stay!”

“Mariel and her family were lovely. We received daily updates with pictures and videos. They took Remy on all sorts of fun adventures, entertained him with new toys and gave him lots of snuggles. Our pup is our baby and we would happily use Mariel again in the future.”

“Oh my goodness - Kattia is the best sitter we’ve ever had! Between Kattia, her daughter, and friend our pup Oreo had way more attention and care than I even expected. They were so loving and energetic. Even when we dropped her off Oreo was already smiling and she never does that! They took her on lots of walks and car rides, fed her well, cuddled her up and became best friends. She sent lots of updates and pics to show how happy she was as they spoiled her. I will definitely be booking them again! Amazing service!”

“This was our third time booking with Connor and each time has overly exceeded our expectations! We have an almost 2 year old rescue Yorkie who is extremely reactive to other dogs and still learning manners, so finding a sitter who doesn’t already own a dog or take multiple animals at once is super important to us, and Connor is just absolutely phenomenal with him. He sends the best photos multiple times a day so you know your pup is always cared for and having nonstop adventures daily. If you’re looking for a dog sitter who is dedicated to his craft, attentive to your specific dogs needs, and an animal lover, book with Connor. You absolutely won’t regret it!!”

“Tico was happy staying with Vronnie , she took good care of Tico :) She sent me daily Pictures of Tico and their walks , and I will always use Vronnie whenever I can to take care of Tico when I am away . 👍”

“Gus had a great time with Christine and her family and we felt safe knowing he was with them! He was very loved while we were away. We will call on her again!”

Cristy and her family were absolutely wonderful with our old pup. Communicated well and provided details to meet expectations. We did a meet and greet where she showed us where he would be staying and asked great questions about his needs and habits. Since this was a very short notice sitter request, we were especially grateful that she could take him for the weekend. He was calm and at ease when we picked him up. He didn’t seem to want to leave. Ha! Thank you for taking such good care of Tank-Titus! We would definitely request her sitting care in the future, if she’d have him over again.

Kristi and her family were so kind and welcoming! She sent us pictures of Jinnie every day, and he looked so happy and comfortable in every single one. Kristi was also very flexible and understanding when I had to change my drop-off and pick-up times, which I really appreciated. I especially loved how thoughtful she was about making sure Jinnie felt comfortable with her dog, Loki. She introduced them carefully and kept them separated at first, as well as from another dog she was watching, which made me feel much more at ease. Jinnie must have had such a great time with Kristi and her family because he looked happy, healthy, and completely comfortable when we picked him up. We would definitely have Jinnie stay with them again! Highly recommend! ❤️

Kate took fantastic care of my border terrier, quickly getting him comfortable and settled, and she showed him lots of love throughout the week. She took him on regular walks and he even lost a little bit of weight (which he needed)! She sent us photos regularly, which we appreciated, and it was clear he was well cared for and felt at home! She was great and we’d board our dog with her again in a heartbeat!

Shannon was amazing with Cola! She treated her with so much love and care. Our babygirl can be emotional and based on all of the pics we received she was so happy. She took amazing care of her and sent so many updates! I'd highly recommend Shannon to anyone looking for a pet sitter! We'll definitely be using her moving forward instead of boarding her!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
