“Chelsea-Jo and Austin were great! This was my pet's first time boarding and I was put at ease with all of the photos and updates I would get daily. They made it very easy to meet up even with being on base. Would book with them again!”

“We love Telma! We can tell that our dog had a fantastic time with Telma. She also always sends us photos and is very communicative. We will definitely return for Telma’s service. Thank You once again!”

“My dog Batman had a wonderful stay with Vanessa and Geoffrey. They have a great set up and were very attentive and loving towards my dog. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and will be booking again in the future!”

“Our dog Reese had a great time with Mickey and his dogs. We love that Mickey has a training background and we didn't have to worry about Reese coming back with any bad behaviors. In fact, Mickey knows how to handle Reese better than we do. Another very important part to us is that Reese was hanging out with a loving family and not just kept in a crate. We will definitely board with Mickey again.”

“Cheryl & Gustavo were amazing with my dog. I hated to leave her but felt totally comfortable with them. They gave her so much attention and I know she was well taken care of. They sent me pictures and kept me updated on how she was doing. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone.”
“Gabriela was amazing with Blaze. He came home happy and tired…Gabriela sent lots of pictures and we could see the fun Blaze was having. Would definitely board with Gabriela again.”
“I had a last minute work assignment and was looking for a doggie sitter for my two doggies. I sent a request and immediately received a response. I dropped my doggies at my scheduled time. I picked them up the next day and my two doggies did not want to leave. They had a great time playing with Megha and Irene’s doggies. The fenced yard was a plus and the home was neat, orderly and dog friendly.”

“Grant and Yunrui were outstanding caring for our dog for over 10 days. They were kind, responsive, responsible, and flexible. Our dog, who can be challenging in that she does not like other dogs and is skeptical of strangers, quickly warmed up to Grant and Yunrui. They kindly cared for our dog, walking her several times a day, playing with her often, and even helping to settle her stomach and otherwise calming her. 10/10 rating for them! Will be using them again for our dog (13 years old Austrian Cattle Dog Mix). Look no further if you want the best care for your pet!”

“Ann & Richard were wonderful! Scout had a great time in their beautiful home and loved running in their big backyard! She will definitely be back when we head on our next vacation, thank you again!”

“Abby and her family were wonderful care givers of our elderly pets. Our buddies were in their care for more than a week and I can tell they were able to stick to the feeding routine. Our pets comeback in good shape. Thanks Abby and family!”
“Amie was just a delight to work with! She was incredibly responsive, kind and communicative. She took the best care of my boy and sent lots of pictures and updates. We cannot wait to work with her again!”

“Clay and Melissa went above and beyond with Beau and Cooper. They sent photos and updates every day, and when it was time to go home, they both resisted. Cooper would not get in the car.and stared out the window as we pulled away. We are grateful for Melissa and Clay’s loving care.”

“Michelle was amazing!! We had a family emergency where we needed a dog sitter ASAP. Michelle was very responsive and promptly accepted our request with open arms with no hesitation. Michelle and family were very welcoming! During our doggo’s stay, Michelle updated me constantly with adorable pictures and videos of the ample play and generous green space that Blaze enjoyed at Michelle’s property!! Blaze made plenty of friends and had a blast. Thank you Michelle and family!”

“Miguelina and family are the best. Daily on time updates and made me feel way less anxious about leaving my dogs. Since this was only the second time i have ever boarded them i was very nervous but she was great with my pugs 10/10 recommend I have never belt better about leaving my dogs with someone.”

“Second time I had my dog Willow stay with Veronica and she came back all happy and relaxed. Veronica is very friendly, loves dogs and I can tell how well cared for my dog is with her and her family!”

“We needed a sitter for our sweet little beagle mix, Cleo, over the President's Day weekend. We're so glad we found Melissa. She spoiled Cleo with walks in the woods and lots of lying outside in the the backyard in the sun (Cleo's favorite things). Melissa gave us an update each day including photos of our little girl, enjoying her own doggie vacation. We enjoyed our time away, knowing that Cleo was so well cared for.”

“We had an absolutely fantastic experience leaving our dog, Max, with Camila! This was our first time using Rover, and we were a little nervous about it, but Camila handled it perfectly! She took great care of Max, and gave us feedback on how he was doing during his stay. If you are in the area, we highly recommend that you try her out!”

“My two dogs stayed recently for the weekend. I got a ton of photos each day which I loved - Nicole understands that dogs are part of the family. Loved that she's home during the day with the pups and the whole family chips in to help and give them attention. She even sent the dogs home with cute little handmade goodie bags. The pups are going back soon for a longer visit and I feel like they will be in great hands”

Ayla took good care of Zellah while I was on vacation! Her cat and my cat were a bit shy towards each other at first, but my cat loved being around other cats so she was quite entertained while I was away. Ayla ensured to keep me updated, send pictures , and allowed a last minute extension . The next time i go on a trip i will definitely be rebooking !!!! Great service🖤

Grant and Yunrui took excellent care of Sarge! He's a good boy but he's a dog reactive so I always look for people that can handle that and they did a great job with him. It was also important that there was someone there with him during most of the day because that's what he's used to and he gets anxious by himself. Sarge truly had a great time with them and it was a vacation for him too!

As always Marcella goes above and beyond for our senior pup. He’s getting older and has been struggling with different foods. Marcella cooked him different foods just to make him comfortable. It’s hard having senior dogs but knowing he’s being cared for so we don’t worry is a blessing! Thank you so much Marcella!
MC is THE BEST! I have a senior dog and I know that MC is experienced with senior dogs and every picture I get shows me that Jezabel is so calm and relaxed. She was super flexible with me in accommodating some additional days that I had requested before the original booking. Also, she lives in a place with lots of grass and little hills for doggies to climb. MC is my go-to sitter for my sweet girl, and I highly recommend using her to care for your baby.

Nicole was absolutely wonderful. She was so responsive to everything from our meet and greet to keeping me informed & sending updates often for how our pup was doing. I knew our pup was in good hands with her - gave me a sense of calm while on my trip that my pup was safe and with such a kind and caring person. 100% recommend Nicole!

Jessica was absolutely amazing and incredibly attentive with our dog, Duke. Since we’ve only ever been away from him once before, we were a bit nervous, but she made the entire experience stress-free and reassuring. It was clear from the start that Duke was in great hands. She provided thoughtful care, stayed attentive to his needs, and gave us real peace of mind while we were away. We truly appreciate the level of care and attention she gave our pup. We highly recommend Jessica to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and reliable. Thank you again for taking such great care of Duke!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
