“Cheryl and Gustavo were great hosts/sitters for my boy Luke. They provided regular updates and I could tell when I picked up Luke he was a little sad to go. Thanks and I highly recommend if you need a sitter.”

“Melissa was incredibly kind, friendly, and was fantastic for our dog. We were lucky to find her to have her watch our pup during a move, and it made the already stressful event that much easier on all of us. Definitely recommend!!”

“Michelle was amazing! Our husky had a lot of anxiety being away from us and she was so patient. She found ways to make him feel at ease and provided daily updates and pics! We would rate her a 10 if we could! We will definitely book her again for our future needs. Thanks so much, Michelle!”

“Duke was very happy after his weekend with Vanessa and Geoffrey. Their setup is amazing and I got several updates and pictures while away from my fur baby.”

About: Experienced dog sitter who raised and trained five puppies, provides senior and special-needs care including insulin administration, with therapy dog training and genuine love for dogs. I’m home throughout the day and evening, allowing me to provide consistent care, scheduled feedings, regular potty breaks, and plenty of attention. Dogs are let outside in my fenced backyard every 1–2 hours. Pets in my care have a safe, comfortable, and supervised environment with a designated indoor dog area, toys, dog beds, and crates if needed. My fenced backyard has extra-tall fencing for dogs who are jumpers, allowing safe outdoor play and frequent potty breaks.
“Jennifer and her wonderful dog JJ took the best care of my 6-month-old mini bernedoodle for the week. It was very comforting knowing that Daisy was so well cared for. I will not hesitate to book Jennifer in the future for any of my dog sitting needs.”

“Kimberly was great with our little ole puppy dog Daisy. She kept us up-to-date on how things were going, sent us pictures, and responded to our texts throughout our time away. I would definitely recommend her and we will be happy to use her again.”

“Stella absolutely loved staying with Sarah and her family. I received pictures and updates daily and was at total peace knowing my pup was having the best time while we were away. I will definitely be using Sarah again for any future dog sitting.”

“Mickey and his family are awesome! They treat my my fur baby as if she was theirs. Love getting pictures and videos during her visits. The kennel will now only be used as my “back up” place. Highly recommend!”
About: I have cared for all different breeds and sizes of dogs over the years. I grew up with large and small dogs and have pet sit for coworkers with large dogs, cats, bunnies, etc. I recently lost my soul dog to hemangiosarcoma and want to make a difference for other dogs and provide the care they need. I just do not have it in my heart to remove her from my profile just yet. My girl had special needs such as leash/barrier reactivity, aggression, and a bite history prior to adopting her. I am comfortable working with dogs with those needs as well. She had taken several medications over the years and I am comfortable giving pet meds. I am currently working full time Monday through Friday, I am usually available on weekends. I would also be willing to board dogs during the days that I work as I don’t work too far from home. I have a fenced back yard to play in and an XXL crate or a dog bed for dogs who require those sleeping arrangements. I am a dogs on furniture household for those who like to sleep on the couch.
“Cate and her family were amazing! They loved our dog like she was their own and she’s looking forward to spending more time with them next time. They did a great job and we would recommend them to anyone!”

“Kristi and Drew take such good care of our dog! They treat her like she’s one of the family, and I never have to worry about anything while we’re on vacation. I highly recommend them!”

Cadence is an amazing pet sitter. She care for our two boys like they were her own. She is very responsive and kept us updated with pictures throughout the stay. She is now our go to sitter, we trust her with our boys a complete trust. I recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and loving person to care for their furry companions.

We love Lilly and her family! They always take such great care of our dog. They have been watching her off and on for years, back when she was young and now that she’s older and has oral meds to take. She is always well cared for and it’s hard to get her to leave at the end of her stay!

I can't say enough great things about Debra! As a first-time Rover customer, I was a little nervous about leaving my two pups, but she quickly eased all my concerns. From the very beginning, she was friendly, welcoming, and clearly loves animals. During the meet-and-greet, she treated my dogs like family! My travel plans included flying, and I ended up dealing with delays on my way home. Even with the unexpected schedule change, Debra remained incredibly kind, patient, and understanding. If you're looking for someone who will care for your pets as if they were her own, Debra is the person to call. She has definitely become my go-to sitter, and I look forward to booking with her again!

We had another wonderful experience with Kim.This was our 3rd time booking with her, and we couldn’t be happier. Kim is so sweet and takes such great care of our little girl. We especially love how she always keeps us updated and sends us pictures, which gives us peace of mind while we’re away. We highly recommend Kim and will definitely be booking with her again!

Veronica was great with our dog. It was most important to us that she only took a single client at a time. She has two small dogs as well who get along very well with other dogs, including ours. She was very responsive and engaged and sent us daily updates and pictures, which was reassuring to us while we were on vacation.

Marcela was an amazing sitter for my senior dog, Coco, on all of the occasions that we booked with her! She was super accommodating and did a fantastic job with taking care of Coco and making sure he ate his medications and sticking to his diet. I can tell that Coco is really comfortable with Marcela and has a fun time when he is over!

Ayla took good care of Zellah while I was on vacation! Her cat and my cat were a bit shy towards each other at first, but my cat loved being around other cats so she was quite entertained while I was away. Ayla ensured to keep me updated, send pictures , and allowed a last minute extension . The next time i go on a trip i will definitely be rebooking !!!! Great service🖤

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
