“Chelsea-Jo took great care of my dog! She sent a ton of pictures and was very easy to communicate with throughout the stay. I will definitely come back if I need pet-sitting services!”
“Jennifer was a wonderful sitter for our dog, Bear. This was our first time leaving Bear with a sitter in a while and she made us feel very comfortable from the start. Communication was prompt and clear with lots of picture updates :). Her dog JJ was also a sweetheart. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jennifer as a pet sitter. Thank you again!”
“My dog Batman had a wonderful stay with Vanessa and Geoffrey. They have a great set up and were very attentive and loving towards my dog. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and will be booking again in the future!”

“Heather was great and took wonderful care of our two pups. She provided picture updates and let us know how they were doing while on our trip. She was available last minute to us which was AMAZING since we had a big trip that could not be cancelled. Would definitely recommend Heather!”
“Jordyn was great with our dog! She and her partner were such a sweet couple and made Skye feel right at home. She provided pictures throughout the stay, which gave us so much peace of mind. Skye got along great with her pups, and Jordyn was very flexible and reliable. We would absolutely book with her again!”

“Veronica did an excellent job watching our older dog while we went away for a long weekend. She let us do a meet and greet first and she was so kind and patient as I explained dog care needs. We are taking our dog back next week and are confident Veronica will provide excellent care once again.”

“Sarah has been such a great sitter to our super energetic and playful dog, Tex. She is patient and kind and always sends us updates which gives us peace of mind while we’re away. Thanks for being so wonderful to our dog, Sarah!”

“Amie was absolutely wonderful with our frenchie, Tank, during his 5-day stay. She sent frequent updates and lots of pictures, was incredibly responsive, and gave us total peace of mind while we were away. It was clear from the start how much she genuinely loves animals, and Tank was clearly very happy and well cared for with her. She made us feel like he was in the best hands, and we didn’t have to worry about him at all. We came home to a happy, well-loved pup and would absolutely trust Amie with Tank again. HIGHLY recommend!”

“First time working with Stephanie and she was awesome! She was also very close by. I would definitely ask for Stephanie’s help as long as she’s available!!! Thank you Stephanie!!”

“My dog truly enjoys staying with Ann and Richard! It is very apparent that they (& their dogs) enjoy her equally. I find it to be very reassuring when away that Dandelion is being not just cared for, but loved and enjoyed!! Thank you both!”

“Mariel was fantastic. We knew our Minnie was in good hands. We received daily pictures and updates showing us how quickly Minnie settled in to her routine at their house. We knew she was being showered with love while we were away. Awesome experience! We would highly recommend Mariel as a pet sitter.”

“Miguelina and her daughter did a wonderful job with communicating with me, especially when I mentioned it was my first time using Rover. They also would send pictures of Langley and he looked happy and like he was having a great time, which made it easier for me while I was gone. They do seem take multiple dogs at a time, which is fine, but it would have been nice to see Langley playing with other dogs and when he was getting walked for me to know he was getting walked.”

“Cheryl and Gustavo are amazing and I wouldn’t want to leave my pup with anyone else. He’s so happy in all the photos over the week and I’m happy to see he’s had some nice walks and playtime with other dogs. They are super flexible and communicative. I’m really appreciative of the care they give and allowing me to be stress free when I have to travel.”

“Gabriela was wonderful with our little dog Juniper! She took really good care of her while we were gone. We are so happy Juniper had a comfortable, safe, and fun place to go when we are out of town.”

“Andrew was amazing! He took great care of my Leo and made sure to provide me with daily updates about his stay. Andrew made sure to follow directions and provided great information and photos.”

About: I have always had a love and passion for animals since I was a little girl. I started in elementary school by offering to walk my neighbors' dogs just so I could have the opportunity to play with them. Over the years, I have gained even more love and experience in properly caring for all animals as if they were my own. I am a student at JMU who is looking for something part time. I have a lot of free time in the afternoon and most weekends which I would love to spend my time with your wonderful animals! I currently live in an apartment building but is willing to take them in, take them to dog parks, and go on long walks. I am comfortable and flexible on what I would need to do to ensure the happiness and safety for your pets!

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lorton
Lilly has been our go to, trusted care provider for several long vacations. And as hard as it is to be away from our dog, Lilly sends daily pictures to reassure us that our dog is in THE BEST HANDS with her! I recommend Lilly to everyone I know in need of pet sitting services.

Ayla took good care of Zellah while I was on vacation! Her cat and my cat were a bit shy towards each other at first, but my cat loved being around other cats so she was quite entertained while I was away. Ayla ensured to keep me updated, send pictures , and allowed a last minute extension . The next time i go on a trip i will definitely be rebooking !!!! Great service🖤

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
