âThis was the first time leaving my puppies as I needed to go on a trip. I was at ease with our introductions and by the time I boarded my plane I started to get photo updates. Communication was consistent the entire time I was away and I can tell the family treated my puppies like they were part of theirs.â

âAngelique provided my dog with a great experience. She is responsive, thorough, and detail oriented. She provided me with pictures and information about my dog while he was in her care. We will definitely engage her services again!â

âThis was my pups first time being boarded and I was a bit anxious. Mei and her family took good care of Sandy and Oreo sending pictures and videos daily showing them on walks and in the house playing.Mei also sent pictures of their sleeping arrangements (I brought their dog beds) asking if it was a good set up for them. I would definitely recommend Mei and her family for anyoneâs small breed fur babies.â

âBeth was wonderful with our puppy. She was very responsive and kept us updated throughout the stay without being overwhelming, which we really appreciated. She was clearly prepared and already had everything she needed to provide great care, which made boarding prep so easy and stress-free for us. Her yard is spacious and perfect for dogs to play safely. She even sent him home with the sweetest little thank-you gift. We would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for thoughtful, attentive care.â

âMike and his family provided just what I was looking for when I was gone for an extended period: a loving family, little away time, a fenced in yard, and plenty of play time. I would recommend him and his fam to sit your dog.â

âKatherine was kind and helpful! Striker had a lovely stay with her and her family. She was super easy to coordinate with! I really enjoyed the pictures and updates about Striker during his stay.â

âZahra and her family did an excellent job looking after my little guy. Super responsive and they have an amazing space for you doggies to run around in. Their home was clean, they sat down with me to discuss Xerxesâ needs and made sure to check in when he was with them. I have to also note that she showed a tremendous amount of patience and flexibility when I had a delayed flight from my trip. Would definitely entrust my little guys care to them again.â

âThis is our second time leaving our furbaby, Peach, with Poornima and she did a wonderful job looking after her! Poornima sent pictures, videos, and updates throughout the day which we really appreciated. Her dog, Arjun (also lovingly known as Joe!!), is very sweet and the best pup friend Peach could ask for. We highly recommend Poornima as she is an amazing and attentive sitter!!!â

âI absolutely loved her. She took such great care of our fur baby. My dog was happy on return. I was also sent pictures everyday. You and your dog will be happy here.â

âLindsey was awesome! Luna and I are new to the area so it was nice to find a person that cares so much about dogs near by! Luna was so stoked to make a new friend with Millie!â

âDana is so wonderful with our dog Maya! When we drop off Maya sheâs already wagging her tail to see Dana! As pet parents, it just warms our hearts to see the bond Maya has with Dana!!!! Definitely would recommend Dana to anyone looking for a great pet sitter!!!â

âBarry and Cheryl are so wonderful! They take fantastic care of Zoe! Sheâs a quirky senior pup who likes people on her terms. Barry and Cheryl are patient with her and give her time and space to be herself. After spending time with Barry and Cheryl, Zoe comes home relaxed and content. This was Zoeâs second stay with them. For future trips, Barry and Cheryl will be my first choice as sitters for Zoe!â
âKaren is wonderful. I am so happy I found her. She sent me lots of photos while I was away. I can tell by the daily photos I received that he was having fun and was happy. Thank you very much Karen for taking good care of my baby.â

âOur 2 Labradoodles, Wilson and Olive, had a blast on their doggie vacation at Heather's. Heather is a great pack leader and both pooches had smiles on their faces in the photos she sent us while we were away for 2 weeks. They didn't just have a place to stay but a place where they were cared for, exercised and loved. They came home tired and with better manners thanks to Heather's training and attention. We will happily leave our pups with Heather again for our next vacation.â

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Haymarket
Jamie, Mike and their family were WONDERFUL. My brother passed away and I took ownership of his dog Watts. I had only two weeks with him before I requested them to watch him, so I could lay my brother to rest. They were extremely friendly and loving towards Watts. They sent me pictures and videos throughout my trip. They were not aware of how much Watts meant to my brother, but everyone of his friends did, so each day I would say "I have a Watts update" and everyone would gather around my phone to see how he was doing. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THEM! They will be the first people I contact the next time I go out of town! Steve C.
Richard and family took excellent care of our Daisy. It was her first stay with him and he sent us regular updates, photos and video. Was a huge reassurance that she was not only doing okay but playing and having an awesome time with Richard and his family. We will definitely book with him in the future!

Mike did a fantastic job with my dog! She had some separation anxiety early and he kept me up to date with her behavior, how they helped her, and daily picture updates. Their own pets also helped my dog have some company and play time which she loves. Highly recommend!

As a repeat client of Danielleâs, we are very grateful for her help in caring for our kitty, Buddy, while we were out of town. Danielle is so great to work with-taking care to follow your guidelines/schedule regarding care and feeding, yet making that care seem easy, like you are working with a pet-loving family member. And feeling comfortable while you are away, that all will be well with your pet, that confidence is priceless. Thank you Danielle!
This was my first time boarding with Rover and I couldn't be happier that I chose Gloria! Benoit spent five nights with them, and he was clearly so well loved. The whole family was so sweet and easy to communicate with. I loved how many pictures/videos she sent of Benoit playing with their dogs. Would definitely recommend!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justiceâs National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dogâs vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitterâs care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, youâre adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Roverâs reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
