“Caroline was very responsive throughout the process, from the time of booking to during the stay. We are repeat customers because she takes wonderful care of our dog!”

“Jessica truly went above and beyond while taking care of our dog Frank! She provided many updates and pictures and we knew he was in great care! She is amazing with dogs and would absolutely use her again!”

“Danielle was amazing! Very communicative and sent tons of pictures/videos. Kai’lo had a blast with all his new friends and was even very sad when he got picked up. Thank you for taking such great care of him! Will definitely continue booking with her.”

“Erica was fantastic! 🌟 This was our first time ever boarding our 3 1/2 year-old sheltie, so we weren’t sure how well he would do. We checked out two local kennels, and they were not a good fit for him as he was very scared. So we looked into dog sitters in a home environment. I met with Erica before the booking and she put my mind at ease. When we got him back he slept most of the rest of the day since he had so much fun playing with all the dogs! He was well cared for and we will definitely book with her again! Thank you so much ❤️ 🩵”

“Noelle took exceptionally good care of Dorris and was accomodating to her specific needs. I appreciated that she offered to have a meet and greet with her own dogs to allow Dorris to adjust prior to her visit. Absolutely recommend Noelle to watch your dog the next time you're out of town!”

“This was our first time using Rover. Our two Goldens are very big babies so of course we were nervous to leave them. We did a meet & greet with Dana a few months before our stay and felt very confident that they would be okay staying with her. They did have a great weekend with Dana! She sent us lots of videos and pictures during their stay and they received first class treatment from her. We were able to relax and enjoy our time away knowing she was treating them like they were her own. They arrived to stay with a stranger but definitely left with a new best friend!”

“💕 Warm & Heartfelt Tara took such wonderful care of Peanut while I was away. I could tell right away that she treated her with so much love and attention. She and her family cared for my dog with so much love, as if Peanut were her own. Her kids were also so sweet and played so nicely with Peanut — it really made her stay extra special. She even surprised us with an adorable elephant toy and cookies for Peanut to take home, which was incredibly thoughtful. Peanut came back happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. I feel so grateful to have found someone I can fully trust, and I would definitely recommend Tara to anyone looking for a loving and responsible sitter”

“Lydia has been a great asset to us. She is convenient and loves the pups. You can tell that she loves animals and we know our Jake is well cared for and loved while we are gone.”

“Katherine has been the absolute best for watching my baby! She takes such good care of him and sticks to his extra care needs. I love that she provides pictures and updates each day! Hes always so happy and comfortable when I arrive to pick him up!”

“I am glad I could find Raji. She took care of Buster like her own kid, shared many pictures and videos while he was with her. I am so happy that Buster is in good moods after coming home. I am looking forward to put him with Raji if she is available during Labor Day. Thank you Raji. ????”

“Charlie stayed with Corey for 19 nights while I was traveling, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Leaving your dog for that long is never easy, but he made me feel completely at ease from day one! He sent a photo or video every single day along with thoughtful updates and reassuring messages, which meant so much while I was halfway around the world. It was obvious Charlie was happy, comfortable, and getting plenty of attention. They played lots of fetch (Charlie's favorite!), and I could tell he was getting both the exercise and affection he loves. When my sister picked Charlie up, he was happy, healthy, and clearly well cared for. It’s such a relief to know there's someone I can trust with my dog, especially for longer trips. I highly recommend Corey to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and communicative dog sitter.”

“Katherine is an excellent sitter! I boarded my Yorkipoo with her for 4 days. She sent updates and pictures. She definitely loves dogs and took very good care of my baby. I am happy I found her!”

“Romely and her husband took very good care of our Hiro while we were on vacation. They are such sweet couple and they updated me with the daily activities with Hiro. I’d highly recommend them.”

“Rachel was a great sitter for my dog Maggie. This was the first time I left my dog to a sitter, and I chose Rachel because of her positive ratings and many returned customers. I was very satisfied with Maggie's stay. Rachel texted me about drop-off/pick-up times, sent me daily updates, and I believed my dog was taken good care of. I will surely consider Rachel again when I need to board my dog.”

“This was my pups first time being boarded and I was a bit anxious. Mei and her family took good care of Sandy and Oreo sending pictures and videos daily showing them on walks and in the house playing.Mei also sent pictures of their sleeping arrangements (I brought their dog beds) asking if it was a good set up for them. I would definitely recommend Mei and her family for anyone’s small breed fur babies.”

“Incredible first time experience using Rover by choosing Taylor. She was so communicative and sent pics and videos every single day, letting me know immediately if she had any questions or concerns. She gave our puppy lots of outside time and bonding time with other pups. I felt that my puppy was so well taken care of and safe. Even gave us a gift bag as a way of thanking us - so sweet! I would 100% recommend!”

About: I've trained and owned hunting and family dogs for most of my life. I've had both dogs who stick around off leash and fence jumpers. My Chessie went through 2 tough years in his end of life and my husband and I got comfortable administering shots and pills. My home has lots of people to play with and help a dog have a happy stay! I am a stay at home Mom which allows dogs to be out and about the house all day and to go out as needed. My yard is fenced. I love to go on walks and throw balls and frisbees for dogs. I have lots of kids who love to play with dogs and keep them very busy.
“Oh my goodness this lady is one of the kindest souls you'll ever meet. You can tell she really likes dogs and is so good with them. When she arrived, our dogs acted as though they knew her and loved her attention. Could tell through the pictures that she was just fantastic to them.”

“Andrew and his family took care of my old guy Brownie so well - I do not think my doggie missed me! He was very good at keeping me informed and sent lots of pictures. My dog enjoyed his stay with his new second family.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
