“Amber was great! She was able to accommodate us last minute and extended Copper’s stay. Copper enjoyed himself…he slept the remainder of the day away? thanks for everything. We will be back!!!”
“I have to be very picky when choosing sitters as one pup has separation anxiety and will not stay with just anyone. I have had many issues with past sitters being dishonest and not following my guidance but I HIGHLY recommend Tanine!!! I have two very high energy pups (golden doodle and lab). She kept me updated, good and bad, and made sure to give my pup his meds with enough time for them to be effective prior to crating. She ensured to make them as comfortable as possible through the day and I truly appreciate her level of care. I specifically chose her due to the training background and I am so glad I followed through though there were not many reviews. I did not have to ask for pictures or updates throughout. She has small children that seem to love dogs so I know my pups received comfort as they love children. She is a gem! To have the patience and be willing to work with us through his anxiety is not something you find in all Rover sitters. Glad to have finally found a permanent option!”

“I want to thank Peyton and Chloe for their outstanding care of my cat. I imagine that Mr. Pickles was thoroughly entertained exploring the big house and getting attention along the way. The cat care let me have peace of mind while I was away and the photos sent to me were terrific.”

“Magda and Chris were amazing. So kind and caring with Mogi. Magda sent me regular check ins that showed how comfortable Mogi was with them. It was great knowing that Mogi was safe and happy during my weekend away.”

“Stephanie was wonderful! Took care of my dog and kept me updated with pictures throughout her stay. She looked happy and well taken care of the entire time! Would definitely book with Stephanie again”

“First time in a while that I've had to have someone else take care of my older dog. Courtney took great care and was accommodating to our needs. Dropping off my Kali, I felt comforted knowing she was in good hands.”

“My pup Nikko stayed with Corey for almost a week and he had a blast there! He came home super exhausted. Corey was great at letting me know how he was doing every day and super responsive. Highly recommend!”

“I am so happy that Rachel watched our Cooper while we were out of town for 14 days. It was going to be the first time leaving him for that long period of time and I was a bit worried, but when I met Rachel during the meet and greet, I knew Cooper would be in good hands. She is caring and knows a lot about taking care of dogs. She sent us pictures and/or videos everyday and updates on how Cooper was doing. I would definitely have Rachel take care of Cooper again! Thank you Rachel!!”

“Caroline and Ryan are absolutely AMAZING!!! Finley loved staying at their home and playing with their dog Dusty. I was relieved and happy knowing Finley was being taken care of by people that love their dog just as much as I love mine. . . We will definitely book with Caroline and Ryan again. . .”

“Jocelin and Christian did an exceptional job caring for our pups. Jocelin shared pictures daily and made extra effort to give them the exercise our high energy young ones need. I highly recommend Jocelin for boarding your dogs.”

“Beth was wonderful with our puppy. She was very responsive and kept us updated throughout the stay without being overwhelming, which we really appreciated. She was clearly prepared and already had everything she needed to provide great care, which made boarding prep so easy and stress-free for us. Her yard is spacious and perfect for dogs to play safely. She even sent him home with the sweetest little thank-you gift. We would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for thoughtful, attentive care.”

“Gloria’s pretty awesome. Super nice and accommodating, she and her 2 dogs got along very well with my dog. I really appreciated the updates and pictures she sent to me while my dog was boarding with her. I also appreciate the good-hearted concerns and questions about my dog; let’s me know they really played with her and bonded.”

About: I provide one-on-one care. Your pet will get 100% of my attention! I proudly raised two kittens who lived beautiful lives. I currently have a cockatiel age 15 and a goldfish. I absolutely love ALL animals! I’m currently home from college and available through the summer. My schedule is flexible and I am ready when needed. My summer course work is completed so all my time and energy will be with your pet. “Katherine is an excellent sitter! I boarded my Yorkipoo with her for 4 days. She sent updates and pictures. She definitely loves dogs and took very good care of my baby. I am happy I found her!”

“Danielle was amazing! Very communicative and sent tons of pictures/videos. Kai’lo had a blast with all his new friends and was even very sad when he got picked up. Thank you for taking such great care of him! Will definitely continue booking with her.”

About: 20+ years of pet care experience. In high school and college I worked as a vet tech, and at a boarding/daycare/grooming facility. I have also worked with livestock at numerous farms and horse boarding facilities. I now have 1 dog, 3 cats, and a horse of my own. I love building relationships with pets (those that want it) or giving space (for the more nervous and anxious ones). I pride myself on being able to accurately read each pet and knowing what they need. I work from home and have a very flexible schedule which makes pet sitting amazing! I am able to watch pets while you're away and keep them on whatever schedule best works for them. I'm also available for mid-day let-outs and walks! I make sure each pet is comfortable around me. If they are happy, energetic pets- I make sure to help them get their energy out so they look forward to seeing me! If they're more reserved and nervous, I make sure to go slow so they do not see me as a threat and I do not try and cloud their space, while also reassuring them I am a safe person.
“I reached out to Jim to mind my dog Rick for a week while I was away for work. I was very pleased with the level of attention to Rick and the updates I received during the course of the week. I will definitely hire Jim again. My dog and I are pleased!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
