“Michaela has been a wonderful cat sitter for our two kitties! She is very responsive, responsible, and conscientious. You can tell from the pictures she sends that she enjoys taking care of and playing with our little guys—and they’re happy to be with her as well! We’ll definitely call on Michaela again — she’s terrific!”

“Ana is always super prompt and professional. She’s kind and thorough in her communication, both of which seem to spill over into how she cares for pets. Always love booking with her :)”

About: I've taken care of my family's pets ever since I was old enough to hold a leash. I've walked dogs, taken care of sick cats, and cleaned out hamster cages. I've often been hired to pet-sit for neighborhood and family friends. I have experience helping dogs and cats take pills and I feel very comfortable handling larger breeds of dogs. Hi! I'm currently getting my PhD at American University so my schedule is quite flexible as I only have classes a few times a week. I'm available early mornings, nights, weekends, and sporadically throughout the day. I'm able to visit your pets daily, take them outside, and care for them in the best manner possible, but I do not offer boarding animals in my flat.
About: I have my own dog & she is the love of my life! Ever since adopting her, I found a passion and deep love for animals! I used to volunteer with CDCK located in DC. Animals have become my passion and I love all animals like they’re my own ❤️ I live with my partner who is more than happy to help take care of your fur baby as well! I work remote so I will have tons of time to care for your pet. My apartment also has a dog park so it has easy and fast access outside. I have my own dog that I’ve had nearly 6 years now. I will treat your dogs like they are my own! I have done extensive research on caring for dogs and have implemented various different things with my dog to improve her quality of life best I can. Whether that’s feeding your dog healthy organic treats or finding different ways to mentally stimulate them! Not only will I take them on walks but I’ll be glad to play some friendly tug of war with them :)
“Rachel was wonderful. She did daily visits with our senior Kitty on medicine and took good care of her while we were gone. We received daily updates with photos and knew she was in good hands. Definitely recommend Rachel!”

About: I bring a lifetime of diverse animal experience to every pet I care for. I grew up with a rescue dog—and even a pet duck—which taught me early how to adapt to different personalities and needs. Today I share my home with Halo, my black rescue cat, and Grover, my rescue Yorkie, both of whom remind me daily how important patience and trust are. I also cared for Daisy, my special‑needs yellow lab, and understand the gentle routines senior pets require. And with Teddie, my Coton de Tulear from a prestigious lineage, I’m familiar with breed‑specific care and structured environments. Whether your pet is a rescue, a senior, a purebred, or a quirky little character, I meet them exactly where they are and make sure they feel safe, understood, and loved. As a writer who works from home, I have a naturally flexible schedule that allows me to give pets consistent attention throughout the day. My routine is calm, predictable, and easy to adjust around your pet’s needs—whether that means midday walks, morning check‑ins, or evening visits. Because I’m home most of the time, I’m able to provide steady, reliable care and keep your pet’s day running smoothly and stress‑free. I provide pet care exclusively through walks and drop‑in visits, which means your pet stays in the comfort and familiarity of their own home. During each visit, I follow your routines closely—feeding, fresh water, medication, enrichment, and any specific instructions you share. I keep a calm, reassuring presence, make sure doors are locked, and always double‑check your pet’s safety before leaving. My goal is to maintain your pet’s normal rhythm while giving them attentive, reliable care and keeping your home secure.
About: I'm the woman taking an evening walk and asking if I can say Hi! to your dog. Two dogs - one as a child, the second 35 years later - were among the most important relationships of my life. No offence to family and friends. The second was a Black Lab and taking him on his evening walk in a local park in Moscow was the best part of every day. I'm retired and walk for pleasure anyhow. I am the servant of Dasha, a rescue cat with more personality than good sense, who is willing to let me spend nights away to take care of your beloved dog or cat. Friends and family have already benefited from my "service" - and now you can too. I'm retired, with a schedule that is my own to make. I'm only looking for Rover duties in the 20814 and nearby zip codes that I can get to easily and quickly. Daily activities include daily walks and almost daily lap swimming, lots of reading, too much scrolling, and occasional editing and writing gigs. Oh, and playing with my cat Dasha. When staying over for your dog, I'd live at your place and visit Dasha for a few hours daily, as well as go out for errands and laps at the Y pool. I expect dogs to need attention and I'll give it. Though we lived in an apartment in Moscow, our Black Lab Jasper enjoyed the life of Riley, with walks at nearby parks. Most of the day he spent following us from room to room, positioning himself strategically so he always could see one of us at all times. Cats, of course, are different; I wait for Dasha to emerge from wherever she's "hiding" to let me know when she wants to be played with, brushed, petted. If this is your pet - great. If not, I'll adapt to that, too!
“I couldn’t be happier with the care my cat, Ivy, received! Summar arrived right on time for the appointment and made sure to keep me updated on how Ivy was doing. The photo she sent of them bonding was all I needed to know that my cat was in great hands—it gave me such peace of mind while I was away. She truly went above and beyond, not only taking excellent care of Ivy but also cleaning her dishes, picking up litter debris, and making sure the cat waste was properly taken care of. Her responsiveness, flexibility, and genuine love for animals were evident in every interaction. If you’re looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter who will treat your pet like their own, I highly recommend booking with Summar! I’ll definitely be reaching out to her again in the future.”

“Kaya did a fantastic job watching our new dog and two cats. She provided photos and updates assuring us things were going well. She provided meds and even took extra care during fireworks to be sure our dog felt safe. It was our first time using the rover app and Kaya. We already plan to have her watch our pets our next trip!”

“Giovanna was amazing!! Drako loved being visited by her, she was very communicative with us and made sure we got pictures and updates on a visit baisis! We felt so happy and comfortable that our dog was being taken care by her! Definitely would recommend her with anyone that needs his/her dog taking care of! We would definitely will be thinking of her if we need someone to take care of our dog! Thanks Giovanna!!”

“Clara did an excellent job caring for my seven year old kitty Bonnie. I came home to a happy and well fed cat. Thanks so much Clara and I will definitely call upon you to care for Bonnie in the future!”

“Drew was amazing! First time in a long time— my dogs just welcomed someone with no issues :)… I highly recommend him as a dog sitter. His attention to details is also significant.”

Edgar was fantastic! He took great care of Bagel and Badger while we were away and kept us updated with photos and notes after each visit. He clearly spent quality time with them and provided lots of attention and enrichment rather than simply stopping by to take care of the basics. The cats really enjoyed him and were clearly comfortable and happy in his care. Edgar was reliable, communicative, and attentive, and we had complete peace of mind while we were away. We’d absolutely book with him again and highly recommend him!

Michaela watched our cat for the first time last week. We met her briefly in-person at our house to meet our furry friend and go through logistics. Our cat immediately loved her and so did we. She is very friendly and it is obvious she loves animals. She cared for our cat for 5 days with drop-ins 2x a day. He was very happy when we came home! We could not be happier with her communication each day and all the photos - it was obvious he was well cared for. Highly recommend her!
Amanda was wonderful!! She took great care of our two cats, and one of them who is usually a little shy came out of her shell with her. Amanda sent plenty of photos and kept us in the loop with how they were doing every day. Would for sure have her look after our cats again!

Audry was very responsible and followed through on everything she explained during our meet-and-greet. She played with our cats every day and sent us many adorable photos and videos, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. She kept all the litter boxes clean and paid close attention to our cats’ dietary needs. We really appreciated her care and reliability. We would absolutely contact Audry again for any future pet-sitting needs.
Our family had a medical emergency and Summar was flexible and understanding when we needed to change the schedule around slightly! During a very stressful time, it was a relief to know that our cat was in good hands - one less thing for us to worry about. She is dependable, trustworthy, and I think of her like family! Thank you Summar!!!!

I have probably never written a review but Vidya deserves our recognition and appreciation. She takes her job with the outmost seriousness and I think she should open a franchise of outfits trained to her standards of care, kindness, transparency and integrity. We were away for two months and had complete peace of mind that our cat and house were in excellent hands. Thank you Vidya. You are a star.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Bethesda. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
