“Summar was absolutely FANTASTIC as our dog sitter this past week. She sent multiple updates per day with adorable pictures of Comet having adventures throughout the day as well as a description of his daily activities. She left us a welcome home note, printed collage of Comet picture from the week, and a treat upon our return! The house was in perfect shape and Comet was a very happy puppy. He LOVED Summar - she has a very natural, outgoing, loving personality that set me and Comet at ease immediately. I will use Summar as often as she is available to dog sit in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Thank you Summar for your thoughtful and attentive care of our beloved pooch Comet!”

“Karachi was amazing! She was able to house sit for us on short notice after another sitter canceled, and not only took great care of our dog but left the house even cleaner than when we left. Highly recommended and would definitely book again!”

“Erica stayed at our house and took care of our 99lb German Shepherd. She was very communicative and attentive. We have worked with her more than once and will look for her again in the future!”

“We were VERY pleased with Jony. It was a last minute booking for an unexpected trip. He came to meet our dog and go over house/animal instructions beforehand. When he stayed at our house he left it cleaner than when he arrived! He took excellent care of our 10 yr old rescue German Shepherd and our chinchilla. Communication was excellent. We will definitely book with him again.”

“Walter was flexible to accommodate a last-minute booking, took the time to call beforehand to understand Francesco’s needs, arrived right on time, and was very caring with him.”

“Nicole was AMAZING! We felt so comfortable and assured that Mila was safe and getting plenty of love. Nicole sent so many excellent pics and updates, and left the house in perfect condition! Can’t wait to book again!”

“Molly was fantastic! She gave regular updates and handled our dogs with professionalism and care, including reaching out whenever she had a question. Will be booking again!”

About: My mother used to train dogs when I was younger so I’ve been around dogs ever since I was born. My older brother has been taking care of dogs and boarding for years and I help him out with his process Right now I’m taking a break from school so I am available everyday! When I go back to School my schedule will remain mostly unchanged. I respect unfamiliar pets personal space until they get used to me, when walking dogs I am very observant of my surroundings making sure there is no danger. I typically let out my dogs 5 times a day for around 20-30 minutes when I was younger I loved to go on walks as well sometimes for over an hour.
About: I'm the woman taking an evening walk and asking if I can say Hi! to your dog. Two dogs - one as a child, the second 35 years later - were among the most important relationships of my life. No offence to family and friends. The second was a Black Lab and taking him on his evening walk in a local park in Moscow was the best part of every day. I'm retired and walk for pleasure anyhow. I am the servant of Dasha, a rescue cat with more personality than good sense, who is willing to let me spend nights away to take care of your beloved dog or cat. Friends and family have already benefited from my "service" - and now you can too. I'm retired, with a schedule that is my own to make. I'm only looking for Rover duties in the 20814 and nearby zip codes that I can get to easily and quickly. Daily activities include daily walks and almost daily lap swimming, lots of reading, too much scrolling, and occasional editing and writing gigs. Oh, and playing with my cat Dasha. When staying over for your dog, I'd live at your place and visit Dasha for a few hours daily. I'd travel with my laptop and pretty much do at yours what I do at mine. Schedules and a certain amount of order and a base line of cleanliness - that's my approach to caring for my four-legged family, whether cats or dogs. I expect dogs to need attention and I'll give it. Though we lived in an apartment in Moscow, our Black Lab Jasper enjoyed the life of Riley, with 3-4 walks a day to nearby parks. The rest of the day he spent following us from room to room, positioning himself strategically so he always could see one of us at all times. Cats, of course, are different; I wait for Dasha to emerge from wherever she's "hiding" to let me know when she wants to be played with, brushed, petted. If this is your pet - great. If not, I'll adapt to that, too!
“Kymberlee was an amazing dog sitter! She sent me updates via the app. Always on time with the potty training. Very kind and thoughtful. Luna loved her. Definitely will book again!”

About: Growing up I’ve always had animal companions in my family’s house. My family has had generations of dogs raised into senior ages full of health. I currently have my buddy Timmy who’s been with me since I was 9, he’s a 14 year old German Shepard, Corgi mix. I’ve been responsible for his senior care for the last 5 years and have learned so much. I’m excited to be a part of your companions life and look forward to working with you! I am currently a full time student at an online university. My schedule is very flexible, so I am certain I can work with you to find consistent times to meet your pets needs. I believe that keeping a pet on a leash while on walks is the best way to protect them. I will ensure that your pet enjoys their time outdoors while being extra safe. I am a vigilant person as well, so I’ll always be on the look out for danger 🫡🫡
“Brenay was amazing! She took wonderful care of our little guy. After we booked her we learned that Dilly would need surgery before we left but Brenay stepped up to the challenge and was able to care for him and give him his medications while we were gone. She was very kind and communicative and left the house very clean. We will definitely use Brenay again!”

“Highly recommend! Rachel did an amazing job house sitting and caring for our dog and cat. The animals loved her! Our lab, Bella, actually seemed to miss her for a few days afterwards… Rachel was responsible, reliable, and did a great job communicating and sharing daily photos. She followed our instructions and the house was well taken care of as well. We’ll definitely hope to use her again!”
About: I've always gotten along very well with animals and I'm very receptive to their mood and needs. I have experience with dogs big and small and I'm comfortable handling multiple at a time. My schedule is open highly flexible. I'm available weekday mornings and evenings, as well as weekends, but weekday afternoons may require advance notice, particularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm available for walks and sitting, but currently unavailable for boarding. I am willing to fulfill all your pet's needs including grooming, medicine, and check-ins if needed.
“Claire was thoughtful, thorough, kind, caring and just loving with Hayden. She followed all my notes and texted me regularly. I am looking forward to Claire looking after Hayden again in the future!”

“Gabrielle was great! They inspires confidence immediately with their warm and courteous demeanor. Betty took to Gabrielle immediately. Gabrielle was a great communicator who kept us well updated. I would be lucky to have Gabrielle come back again!”

“Mark did a great job with taking care of my high-energy dog, Atlas! He took him on long walks and hikes to help burn his energy. He clearly loves what he does, and I would trust him to take care of Atlas again!”

About: I’ve taken care of and been surrounded my dogs all my life. Friends and family have relied on me to care for their pet and ensure I stick to their feed/walk routine I’m currently working a hybrid schedule so I have flexibility for sitting and dog walking. I’m also available on weekends and would be happy to dog sit at your home. Happy to follow your pup’s schedule for feeding and walking times! Also would love to offer a no pressure meet and greet. Will request emergency contact information as well
“Kai was amazing with our dogs. Rafa is usually slow to warm but he like Kai right away. And when these tourists got lost and were so late he stayed well after the agreed time. He did great walking them and keeping them entertained.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Somerset
Erica did a wonderful job dog-sitting for our energetic pup! She was super communicative and kept us updated with great photos of our dog’s walks, fetch-playing sessions and mealtimes. She’s an extremely responsible person who is a talented caregiver for animals, and we’ll definitely hire her again!

I cant say enough good things about Salma. She went completely above and beyond in everything she did - we received fantastic daily updates with photos, she monitored our two cats as they got to know each other, and our home is absolutely twice as clean as when we left it. Truly the best pet sitter and housesitter I’ve ever hired. Leaving my cats for two weeks was stressful but Salma gave us the best peace of mind we could ask for. I can’t recommend her more. Truly a gem!!

Karachi We are so grateful for the amazing care our little angel received. From the moment we arrived home, it was clear how much attention and love she had been given. The studio was spotless, the sheets had been washed, and everything was perfectly organized. These thoughtful details meant so much to us. Most importantly, we could tell that Gini was happy, comfortable, and well cared for during her stay. Thank you for treating her like family. She means the world to us, and we would not hesitate to book again. Highly recommended!

FAQs for House Sitting - Somerset
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Somerset on Rover is $59.94 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 10,774 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Somerset. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Somerset walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Somerset maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Somerset choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Somerset. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
