“Diana and her family were amazing! This was our first time leaving our puppy with a sitter from Rover and couldn’t have asked for a sweeter experience. She sent several updates with lots of photos of our puppy playing with her kids, on walks, and even learning new tricks. So adorable… and comforting! Will definitely book with Diana again!”

“Aashna and Sidanth took excellent care of our dog. Communication was fantastic – they sent updates and photos twice a day. We felt very comfortable leaving him with them and would definitely rebook.”

“Beth did an amazing job with Drift! He came home happy, relaxed, and completely himself — no signs of stress at all. Drift can be sensitive in certain environments, but he was 100% comfortable with Beth and her pup. We’re so grateful for the exceptional care!”

“Tim asked all the right questions to understand Ralphie’s routine, quirks, and preferences, which immediately put me at ease. Throughout the stay, they sent regular updates, complete with pictures and videos, so I always knew my dog was happy and well taken care of. It was clear they truly cared about making my dog feel comfortable. When I returned, Ralphie was calm, content, and clearly well-exercised! I highly recommend Tim for anyone looking for a trustworthy dog sitter. I will definitely be booking with them again in the future!”

“Grateful again for Erin’s attention and loving care for my pupper. She is kind, positive in outlook, communicative, and reliable. There is no greater comfort than knowing my pup is in her very capable, thoughtful hands when I have to go out of town.”

“Kyle was such a wonderful sitter for my pup over the long weekend! Ringo was well taken care of, socializing with his dogs, and I received daily updates and pictures. It was a wonderful, calm environment.”

“Max was amazing! I loved getting all the updates and pictures of my dogs while I was away. One of my dogs is reactive and can be a handful. Max was willing to meet with her before her stay and win her over (and he did!) it really eased my mind knowing she would be in good hands. My dog had a few stubborn potty accidents in his home and Max kept me informed about that and as well as the times she did go outside. I was delayed by several hours picking my dogs up and Max was understanding and was able to keep my girls entertained while he waited. Bailey and Cali loved their stay and got lots of play time, walks, and belly rubs. I would definitely use Max over and over again.”

“Katya was great! We did a meet and greet, and it was clear Lenny felt comfortable in her home and loved her yard. Katya was communicative, shared photos, and kept us updated on how Lenny was doing. Lenny came home happy and relaxed, having met some new friends. We will book again - thank you, Katya!!”

“Anne Marie took such great care of Danny, she was patient and kind to him as a senior dog and just loved on him! I will definitely be asking Anne Marie to care for him again when I need it.”
“We’ve been using Nadia’s dog sitting services repeatedly and couldn’t be happier. Our dog is always well cared for, and Nadia goes above and beyond when it comes to communication and accommodating our needs. We’ll continue booking with her and recommend her without hesitation.”

“Evan was a great sitter for my older dog, Dempsey! He took great care of him and kept me informed of how he was doing. Evan has a genuine love for dogs and did a wonderful job!”

“Marcel came back to me well loved and cared for by Shanilka and her family! Marcel was very relaxed at returning home. Thank you for the pictures that you sent. Great thanks for your flexibility on our drop off and pick up time when our plane was late! I especially loved that Marcel slept with your mom and ignored the bed. He had a wonderful team to care for him. I will definitely use your services again. Thanks again❤️🙏🤗”

“Faustine took such wonderful care of our pup! She provided frequent adorable updates and I could tell her was so at ease in her home. Would absolutely book with her again.”

“Jodee and AJ took amazing care of my shy pup while I was away for a few days. They have a great indoor and outdoor space and spent time with us during a meet and great to make sure all would go smoothly. Sent daily videos and pics to keep me reassured he was doing well. Would 100% recommend!”

“As always -- nothing but top-notch TLC for Ella when she stays with Alex and Daniel! We couldn't be luckier to be able to rely on them to keep our girl happy, healthy, and loved while we're away.”

“Our second time with Michael and Ollie was even better than the first! Atlas was excited to see them again, leaving my side without any concerns at drop-off which is a rarity. And, as always, Michael was very kind, communicative, and flexible. 10/10, can't recommend this duo enough!”

“Christine and her family establish a very welcoming environment for Gryphon and he loves them. The cat visits are also wonderful. THANK YOU!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Somerset
Stephanie was great. She took care of my two dogs, Moka and Zoe on a Saturday/Sunday so I could attend a wedding. Moka is around 5, requiring a medication 2x day and Zoe is definitely a senior dog. She sent me photos and they appeared to have had a good time. She was great a communication, and understanding when my flight was delayed and I arrived later than hoped. We'll happily use her again if circumstances allow.

Jacqueline was great! I always look for sitters with big dog experience because my 4 year old staffy has very high energy and reactive to large dogs. She grew up with large dogs so I was very comfortable booking. She asked great questions during our meet and greet and sent plenty of updates during my Zeus’s stay. Bonus: she lives near walking trails so my dog got plenty of outdoorsy walks. I can’t wait to book Jacqueline again!

Stella was in such good hands. We dropped her off at the end of some “tummy” issues and LeAnn and her family administered her medication and kept me updated on her tummy status as she got better. We received daily pictures and updates. Stella had a blast with Oscar!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Somerset home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Somerset.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Somerset sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
