“Shanilka was super responsive and understanding of my dog's needs!! She was very kind and prompt with pick up and drop off so I didn't have to wait long in the cold. Highly recommend!!”

“Diana did an excellent job watching my dog. She asked about his likes and dislikes beforehand and was good at communicating drop-off and pick-up. She kept him entertained throughout the day with games of fetch and walks. I would definitely have her watch my dog again.”

“Caleb was absolutely fantastic with my pup Avi, who, at 15, is very sweet but can be a bit stubborn. But he took to Caleb immediately, following behind him with his tail a-wagging! In addition to being so great with my dog, Caleb was incredibly responsive, polite, and had great energy.”

About: I’ve had dogs my entire life and have 18 years of hands-on experience caring for them with patience, love, and responsibility. I’m naturally empathetic and compassionate toward animals, and I believe every pet deserves to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. While I’m new to Rover, I’m not new to caring for dogs. I have experience with daily routines like feeding, walks, playtime, and understanding each dog’s unique personality, habits, and needs. Having a senior pup of my own, I’m especially attentive to the patience, comfort, and extra care that older dogs may need. I’ll treat your pup with the same kindness, attention, and respect I’ve always given my own dogs. I’m committed to creating a safe, positive, and loving environment while keeping you updated so you can feel confident your pet is in good hands. I have a very flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to pet care throughout the week. I work from home and am available most days, making it easy for me to provide walks, playtime, feeding, and companionship whenever needed. I do have an online class from 1 PM to 3 PM, but I am still home and able to work around that schedule. Outside of that time, my availability is very open, and I’m happy to adjust my routine to meet each pet’s needs. I have a comfortable, pet-friendly apartment where your dog can feel safe and relaxed. I’m available throughout the day to provide attention, playtime, walks, and companionship. I’m happy to follow your pet’s usual routine, including feeding schedules, bathroom breaks, and any specific care instructions. I can also accommodate crate-trained dogs if needed and make sure your pup has a calm and loving environment during their stay.
About: I have been a volunteer at the Humane Rescue Alliance for the past 3 years. I am the person that talks to all animals, flowers, plants etc. My two pups were rescues, there human had died. I saw them on Facebook, went to the petstore and came home with two papilions! They were 8 & 9 years old, the littiest things. My heart! They lived the best life up until the day they left us. After that I started at the shelter helping everyone else get the same chance. I have learned so much about behavior and care. I am trained in all departments except the spay and neuter. I am also 1/2 way complete Fearless Shelter Training Cert, this is what staff recieve for cats and dogs. I am currently looking for a job and volunteering with the Humane Rescue Alliance and the American Red Cross. I would love to have a pet, but I know I can't commit to one at the moment, so I enjoy helping care for animals whenever possible. My schedule is flexible. I live in a secure condo building with a large private patio and easy access to a shaded grassy area. I am just a few blocks from Rock Creek Park and Pierce Mill, so there are plenty of places to enjoy the outdoors. I will be the one caring for your pet. Your pet will have my full attention while staying with me.
“Bill and his girlfriend were AMAZING last minute sitters for my 4 month pup, Aries! Aries is FULL of energy and has a little bit of separation anxiety - he's also not 100% potty trained when he's anxious. But Bill and his girlfriend made sure to keep Aries safe and comfortable and fully played so he didn't have any accidents. That's not to mention that the day of his booking (which, by the way, I booked 7 hours in advance lol, it was a mess) my car got a tire and I had to ask Bill to keep Aries 4 hours past the original booking time. They sent me pictures all day and were gracious, transparent, and kind. Not to mention when I finally showed up for pickup (without warning!) Aries was out on a walk. He was SO happy when I picked him up! Absolutely will rebook and highly recommend.”

“Joey did a fantastic job to take great care of my 7-year-old labrador who had a bit of separation anxiety. I am so grateful with Joey to accept the last minute request after a brief meet up. I would love to use his services again and highly recommend him. Thanks again Joey for your flexibility and patience with Meimei!”

About: DOGGY DAY CARE [only 1 spot avail. for cat-friendly small/medium sized dogs] I’ve been caring for my family’s dogs since I was a teenager, and over the years, I’ve developed a deep understanding of dog body language and their unique needs. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine, and I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals—it’s something I look forward to every day. When caring for pets, whether in my home or my client’s, I prioritize creating a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment tailored to each pet’s unique needs. Here’s how I approach pet care in both settings: In My Home: • Safe and Welcoming Environment: I ensure my home is pet-friendly, removing any potential hazards and providing cozy spaces for rest and play. • Consistent Routine: I maintain a regular schedule for feeding, exercise, and playtime to help pets feel secure and reduce anxiety. • Personalized Attention: Understanding that each pet has its own personality and preferences, I adapt activities and interactions to suit their individual needs. In Client’s Home: • Respect for Home and Rules: I adhere strictly to the homeowner’s guidelines, ensuring pets follow their usual routines and house rules. • Home Security: Before leaving, I double-check that all doors, windows, and, if applicable, fence gates are securely closed to keep pets safe and maintain home security. • Emergency Preparedness: I keep a list of emergency contacts, including the pet’s regular veterinarian and the nearest animal hospital, to act swiftly if any health issues arise. In both scenarios, I focus on providing loving care and companionship, ensuring pets are happy, healthy, and comfortable in their surroundings.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Somerset
Aly & Greg were really amazing. They took good care of our puppy. They were even very flexible and it allowed us the opportunity to attend to other commitments. They were very attentive to detail. Their small gestures went a long way with us. We will continue to book with them when we are visiting our family. We highly recommend them. Thank you again guys! Rio clearly had a great time!💙

I highly recommend Ayah! She is super communicative and cares so much about Louie. They went on long walks and played in the dog park. Ayah is very flexible with drop off and pick up times, and kept me updated throughout the day on how Louie was doing. Louie can’t wait to go back soon!

Christine is a wonderful sitter. Jax is a senior dog, and I always feel confident leaving him in her care because she is patient, attentive, and understands his needs. He comes home happy and relaxed after every stay, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter.

Caleb was absolutely fantastic with my pup Avi, who, at 15, is very sweet but can be a bit stubborn. But he took to Caleb immediately, following behind him with his tail a-wagging! In addition to being so great with my dog, Caleb was incredibly responsive, polite, and had great energy.

Diana is a kind soul and an amazing host for my puppy. She’s been very helpful with potty training and always makes sure everything feels safe and comfortable. Her adorable dog, Charlie, is super chill and friendly, which makes the environment even better. Diana is flexible, responsive, and you can feel her genuine passion for caring for animals. We’re already asking her to set up regular visits because we trust her completely. I couldn’t recommend her more!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Somerset commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
