“Shanilka was super responsive and understanding of my dog's needs!! She was very kind and prompt with pick up and drop off so I didn't have to wait long in the cold. Highly recommend!!”

“Grayson absolutely loves his time with Sasha. It isn’t like any other place. They actually care about your dog. The big reason we send Grayson is for the social aspect most of the time they have other dogs there for him to play with which makes everything that much better.”

“Daisy enjoyed her 5-hour stay with Rae yesterday. They went for two walks together, which Daisy loved. Rae was very conscientious and asked questions to be sure that Daisy would be comfortable and happy during her stay. I recommend Rae if you are looking for a responsible, caring pet sitter!”

“Byamba was exceptional! We felt very comfortable leaving our dog with his loving family. We received regular updates and Luka was very happy when we picked him up. Thanks again for your help!”

About: 👋 I’ve had dogs and taken care of them since I was a child. I’ve owned an Airedale terrier, a pug, a Russian terrier, and my family currently has a Japanese spitz and a toy terrier. I have lots of experience - I have adopted a doggie from a shelter before, and I’ve also raised my two pups from 3 months old until they passed a few months ago at ages 14 and 16. Prior to registering on Rover I’ve boarded dogs - I looked after a friend’s pug for a week, a family friend’s elderly golden retriever, and fostered a stray my sister and I rescued from the street before someone adopted her. I’ve taken road trips with multiple pets, and flown across the country with 3 of my dogs, I’ve taken them to all sorts of vet appointments, and been with them through all stages of their lives. ♥️ I’m on this platform looking for company to heal from losing my furry friends - the pain of it shook me to my core, I loved them so much, they were my family members (you know how it is). Being around dogs brings me peace and joy. I am a performing artist and I travel a lot for concerts, so having my own pet is unfortunately not feasible at the moment, hence I decided that taking care of someone else’s furry babies while I’m home between performances is the second best thing:) You can rest assured that I’ll take great pleasure in looking after them and having them in my home. 🏡 I work from home during the day and I am home from evening until morning, too. I do however step out for errands and appointments. Your dog will be with me most of the time while staying in my home, walked 2-3 times and fed on schedule, but should be comfortable being on its own for 2-3 hours max, if I have things to do. ❗️If your pup has severe separation anxiety and is unable to be alone at all, I can accommodate that with enough notice and for 2x my normal nightly rate. 🐶 I’ve always let my dogs run free around the house and made a safe space for them where they liked, but I did crate my rescue doggie when he first arrived to slowly acclimate him to the new place. Whatever you prefer for your dog is fine by me and I’m happy to accommodate. I don’t have a yard, but I have plenty of green areas nearby where I’d walk your furry pal. I keep my dogs on leash at all times. I steer clear of other dogs by default when I’m walking your dog, so whether they’re leash reactive or not, I err on the side of caution 100% of the time. 🐕 I like training doggies and playing with them to give them some mental stimulation, but if they prefer to chill and not be bothered I’m cool with that as well ❗️I’m not looking to scale this as a business and not looking for a potentially unsafe situation, so I’m always only caring for 1 dog at a time, unless both dogs are from the same owner and are part of the same booking.
“I recommend Loreen to anyone who is looking for a pet sitter! She made my dog extremely comfortable and was able to accommodate to our last minute time changes. I will definitely be asking her to take care of Tofu the next time I’m out of town!”

“Diana did an excellent job watching my dog. She asked about his likes and dislikes beforehand and was good at communicating drop-off and pick-up. She kept him entertained throughout the day with games of fetch and walks. I would definitely have her watch my dog again.”

About: Hello, I’m Carrie and I love dogs! I have two dogs right now - Mattie (14) and Mavis (4) - and I’ve had at least one my entire life. I grew up around animals and love being with them and taking care of them. I first used Rover for a 2-week boarding for my dogs a few years ago and it was such a wonderful experience I thought I’d open my home for dog daycare and boarding, too. My dogs have had less than great experiences in dog boarding facilities and so I understand the desire to have a family home environment for your dog while you are away! I would welcome your dog for daycare or boarding at my home where I have both a fenced yard and a wooded area with a stream for daily walks. I take my dogs out at least three times a day. The home is a single family home with two levels and lots of space. I work primarily from home and on the days when I’m at the office, my husband works from home. I would take care of your pup on the same scheduled as my dogs unless you request a specific schedule. My dogs have the roam of the home and I have a fenced in yard and an outdoor space into the woods for leashed walks. I welcome you to bring your dog with whatever would make the dog comfortable during the stay and have plenty of space for crates, beds, dishes, etc.

About: June 2026 - I reduced my rates for house sitting, hoping to find a new booking, saving up for a trip end of July. Need help with drop-in visits, dog walks, or a house sit while you're away? I'm your guy :) I send pupdates upon arrival along with details of each visit -see my pics for examples :) Hello, my name is David and I love dogs, and cats. I work remotely, thus can't help myself but give more attention to your pet(s) than they might otherwise receive from sitters leaving during the day to go to the office. My rates reflect giving loads of attention to them throughout the day, not just a morning, lunch walk, and/or walkings. If your dog(s) only require an overnight stay with a feeding and minimal dog walks, we may negotiate my rates. Me... My first connection to dogs... It began with my Grandpa adopting me my first puppy when I was 13 moving onto a farm in Ohio. She was a rescue who was my companion for 13 years. After moving to DC, I made friends with a neighbor, whereby she gave me blanket permission to access her home, and take her dog for a walk anytime. It turned out to be a win-win for all three of us. I've dog & cat sat for many animal lovers, breeds including German shepherds, rescues from Riwanda, brown labs, poodles, rescues from South Africa, chihuahuas, pugs, Bichons, terriers, dachshunds, Cockapoos, pointers, greyhounds, all kinds of poodle mixes, etc.. And even more felines, too many to list. I too, have had cats, one as a child, and most recently my "Saffron" who passed during the pandemic. If I don't know your breed, I'll do my research as well as take notes from you. I'm pretty transparent, in that I send "pupdates" while I'm looking after your pet. See examples of my pupdates below, and thank you for considering me :) I live close to NW DC, one mile into the MD side. Working remotely allows me much flexibility to be mobile while looking after your dogs. I have references of dog owners who trust me not only with their dog, but with their homes, and their cars (as needed), too! Although, I also have my own car. As you can see from the pupdates posted to my profile photos, I am in touch consistently with sharing pictures and texting with the owner, so you're fully aware of when, as well as, how much time I spend with your dogs and/or cats. As mentioned above... I work remotely thus can spend as much time as needed with your pet! :^) 🐾 🐾 🐾 🐾 🐾 🐾 🐾 I work remotely thus can spend as much time as needed with your pet! I have an in-law suite attached to the home, that opens into a large fenced in yard, with plenty of space to play, as well as low traffic streets to go for dog walks on. :^) 🐾 🐾

“Lee was incredible with Edith. She handled her slight anxiety like a pro and was flexible when we needed to shift our timing a little. We'll definitely be booking with Lee again.”

About: I’ve cared for many of my own dogs & dogs of friends, gf’s, etc. since the late 1980s. I’m a long time dog owner and dog lover, who is also a professional and former small business owner - who is mature, responsible, and serious. On the professional side, I have a combination of organizational/business management and basic sales/marketing & customer service training. I own a single family home with a large yard. My “main job” is in tech and I work from home nearly every day. I’m minutes away from a large park as well. The pets (and people) under my care receive a lot of loving attention in a safe, higher end neighborhood. I have a fenced yard backing up to a very serene, wooded/natural setting with tons of trees. If needed, my home has specific crates/cages and multiple rooms, depending on what the circumstances require. However, usually most pets are allowed to roam freely throughout most of the house and yard, as long as they do not conflict with or disrupt others.
“Jie was very kind, flexible and provided a safe, engaging space for my young dog's first experience at daycare. She took care to select appropriate pack dynamic for play and even worked on some 'place' and calm stay training throughout the day with her, which was unexpected and awesome. My dog loves her, and is always excited to visit. Totally 100% recommend Jie without reservation and hope to use her services again soon!”

“Colleen and family are amazing. I love seeing what Otis has been up to throughout the day. He is actually excited to go to doggy day care. thank you, Colleen!”

“Michael took great care of my boy! Lots of play and attention; he came home tired out in the best way. Even gave him a brushing! He was also willing to be flexible with my uncertain timing, which was much appreciated. I would book with him again, no question.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Glen Echo
Always amazing! Our hound has boarded with Sasha and enjoyed doggy daycare several times. We often come in with last minute requests and Sasha always accommodates us. May comes home happy and tired! The place is a fortress, so I feel comfortable each time knowing that May is safe. The staff are friendly and caring. Communication is impeccable and speedy. We’re so fortunate to have found Sasha.

Diana is a kind soul and an amazing host for my puppy. She’s been very helpful with potty training and always makes sure everything feels safe and comfortable. Her adorable dog, Charlie, is super chill and friendly, which makes the environment even better. Diana is flexible, responsive, and you can feel her genuine passion for caring for animals. We’re already asking her to set up regular visits because we trust her completely. I couldn’t recommend her more!

I have a Malinois Mix, so he is very high every not every Rover sitter has the skills to take good care of him. So, it really means a lot to me when someone seems to genuinely enjoy taking care of him, and really makes an effort to be active with him. Moises always goes above and beyond to care for my dog. He takes such good care of Sisko, and I can tell Sisko had a lot of fun with Moises + loves him. I couldn't recommend Moises more, and thanks so much!

Jack was absolutely awesome with Whiskey! He took care of him for three days and went above and beyond to make sure he was well cared. Jack was kind, communicative, and very responsible throughout. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable pet sitter!

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
