Highly recommend Noah and will be booking again!”

About: I have over 15 years of experience caring for animals of all kinds, including large and small dogs, cats, hedgehogs, ferrets, and hamsters. Over the years, I’ve also rescued and cared for injured wildlife, including rabbits, turtles, and birds. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I truly love caring for them. I treat every pet as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while you’re away. I also have experience caring for pets with special medical needs. My own cat is immunocompromised, so I’m comfortable administering medications, following specialized diets, and providing attentive, compassionate care for animals who need a little extra support. Pet care is something I genuinely enjoy and make time for in my routine. During the summer, my schedule is especially flexible, allowing me to accommodate a wide variety of care needs. Beginning in the fall, I’ll be working Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with some occasional work-from-home days throughout the school year and availability on holidays. Since I’m off earlier than many people, I’m able to provide afternoon and evening care, walks, drop-ins, or quality time with your pet when you need it most. I live in a pet-friendly apartment with my partner, who works in person only 2–3 days a week. That means if your pet is staying with us, they’ll rarely be home alone and will have plenty of companionship, attention, and care throughout the day. One of the things that’s most important to me is communication. As a pet parent myself, I know how comforting it is to receive updates while you’re away. My camera roll is already full of photos of friends’ and clients’ pets I’ve had the joy of caring for, and I can’t wait to add your furry family member to the collection! You can expect plenty of photos, videos, and daily updates, so you’ll always know your pet is happy, safe, and loved. I tailor my care to each pet’s individual needs and routine, whether I’m caring for them in my home or visiting them in theirs. I know that pets feel most comfortable when their normal schedule is maintained, so I prioritize keeping feeding times, medication routines, exercise, and enrichment as consistent as possible. I live in a pet-friendly apartment with easy access to outdoor spaces, making it a comfortable environment for pets who enjoy walks, fresh air, and playtime. I’m also comfortable crating dogs when needed and following any instructions you provide to help your pet feel safe and secure. My own cat is immunocompromised, so I have extensive experience providing specialized care, including administering medications, managing special diets, monitoring symptoms, and paying close attention to changes in behavior or health. I understand that every pet has their own personality and needs, and I’m committed to providing the same patience, love, and attention I would want someone to give my own pets.
About: I previously owned a wonderful dog named Ollie, who taught me just how important love, patience, and routine are when it comes to pet care. Although I no longer have a dog of my own, I miss having them around and would love the opportunity to care for yours. I am readily available to give your dog long walks, playtime, or simply lots of attention and cuddles. I'll make sure they feel safe, happy, and well cared for while you're away. I understand that every dog has their own personality and needs, and I'll always treat your pet as if they were my own. I have a fenced yard and have gates that I can put up inside the house up if need be. We usually don’t like dogs going in the basement, mainly because that’s the kids area and there are lots of small items and toys they can get into.
“We were VERY pleased with Jony. It was a last minute booking for an unexpected trip. He came to meet our dog and go over house/animal instructions beforehand. When he stayed at our house he left it cleaner than when he arrived! He took excellent care of our 10 yr old rescue German Shepherd and our chinchilla. Communication was excellent. We will definitely book with him again.”

“Wayne was responsive, communicative, and followed all of the care instructions we provided. He proved to be responsible, attentive, and genuinely caring. Our dog, a former rescue with anxiety who typically takes time to warm up to new people, quickly became comfortable with Wayne and clearly enjoyed spending time with him. I recommend his services and would gladly use him again for dog sitting.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Cabin John
Pam took very good care of our two cats. Unfortunately our rambunctiou 10-month old kitten injured his leg (not her fault) shortly after we left for two weeks and she ended up taking him to the vet twice, administering his meds, and looking after him while he was confined to one room on vet's orders to help him heal. Through it all she was very caring and concerned and kept us fully informed on what was going on. Knowing she had trained as a vet tech reassured us that the cats were in good hands and let us enjoy the rest of our vacation.
Anna is a top notch pup sitter. I’m a crazy dog dad and Anna exceeded all expectations. Our dog has some separation anxiety and Anna more than accommodated his needs and made us feel very comfortable while we were gone for a couple days. She regularly provided updates which included pictures and videos. We will not hesitate to use Anna as our go-to dog sitter!

Sharon did an amazing job with Wrigley! She sent updates with out an asking along with great photos. She left my mace cleaner than she found it. She also left a nice little package for Wrigley when she left including some great photos and a very sweet card! I highly recommend Sharon and will definitely use again.

Isabela was terrific. She came on short notice and took great care of our 90lb Pitbull Koda.. She sent photos and communicated well with important questions and updates. Not too mention how flexible she was, a friend of mine asked me if Isabela could watch her dog while watching Koda. Isabela took on another dog the next day while watching Koda! She didn’t miss a beat!
Here’s a polished five-star review you can use or tweak: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Faith was an amazing pet sitter! She was reliable, kind, and clearly cared deeply about my dogs. She kept me updated, followed all instructions, and made sure everything was taken care of while I was away. I felt completely at ease knowing my pets was in such loving and responsible hands. I would absolutely recommend Faith to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter!

Mary went above and beyond in taking care of our dog, Romeo, our 18 – year – Old Shih Tzu. Because of his aging issues, Romeo had a skin sore that began to bleed just as we left it was very concerning and became infected just after our departure Mary essentially saved Romeo‘s life, taking him to the vet administering medications over a week long period and nursing and back to health. When we got home, Romeo was in better condition than when we left, all thanks to Mary’s constant attention and care. She truly bonded with Romeo and demonstrated an affection that he needed during that hard time. She did this also while a construction crew was renovating the upstairs of our home, creating a ton of noise and a massive mess. She worked around these people, even helping keep a place tidy! Can’t say enough good things about Mary. We owe her big time!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cabin John walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cabin John maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cabin John choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
