“Absolutely excellent. We went on a long trip to Asia and the biggest thing for me was that I could actually enjoy my trip because I knew they were in great hands. She walked our dog daily in addition to playing with her outside in the backyard and really helped get her energy out and quality time. She was patient and kind with our cats and did an excellent job in finding ways to get them to take their medicine (3 of the 4 cats take medication). She cleaned our house throughout the stay but did a final clean on the day we got back and that was such a huge plus for us. It was nice coming home to happy animals and a clean house in order. So happy we found Tara and can’t wait to have her pet sit again.”

“Robert is great with communication and writes super caring Rover cards. I knew Miss Hoppers was in good care. Thank you for taking care of my furr baby while away, Robert!”

“Katarina is amazing , tentative, and everything Sevyn needs. I can’t express how much I value her time, consistency, trust and thoughtfulness weekly. She has been providing excellent care for Sevyn since she was 8 weeks. Here we are now 7-months and Katarina has never disappointed, flexible, accommodating, and exudes care. Sevyn is always, smiling in her pictures with Katarina. We couldn’t ask for a better sitter.”

“Shannon did an AMAZING job helping us when we needed a last minute drop in visit. She took such good care of our pup, providing lots of play, cuddles, and not giving up when our front door was a pain to unlock and I was being terrible about checking my phone. Couldn't reccomend more!”

“Guiselle really went above and beyond to make sure our pets were all happy and comfortable! She was always responsive to questions, sent cute pictures, and gave reassuring updates. We will definitely reach out to her again in the future!”

“Amanda was amazing! We needed a last minute check in on our rowdy dogs and she helped us out without complaint. They had been couped up all day and we're probably extra wild but she took great care of them and communicated with us along the way. Thank you, Amanda!”

“Samantha took such good care of my babies while I was away on a trip. She is playful, caring, and truly attentive. She sent us pictures every day and communicated everything in great detail. When one of my dogs started showing signs of ear irritation, she noticed it right away and acted quickly her judgment made us feel completely at ease. We have three dogs, and she did an amazing job with all of them. Highly recommend her!”

“Hannah was awesome! She was very communicative, easy to work with, and left us many notes and pictures every day. It’s clear how much she loves animals and wants to shower them with love.”

About: I recently graduated with a PhD from George Mason University, so I'm highly organized and detail-oriented. I love animals of all shapes and sizes, and pet sitting provides much-needed joy and balance to my sedentary work at a computer. I work remotely with flexible hours, so I am able to accommodate specific feeding times, frequent check-ins, and potty breaks. As a proud cat owner, I'm very observant and knowledgeable about cat behavior and body language. I provide calm and gentle care that helps even the most timid cats feel secure and safe in their own space. I am skilled with trimming nails and brushing, and am happy to provide those services upon request, depending on your cat's tolerance. I also have several years of experience managing overnight house sits and walking dogs of all sizes and temperaments, including Greyhounds, Pit Bulls, and Australian Shepherds. I am able to care for and manage a wide range of dog energy levels. Whether your dog is high-energy and needs a brisk walk or is an elderly senior who requires a slow, gentle pace and careful supervision, I’ve got them covered. I'm currently working a fully remote, part-time job so my schedule is very flexible. I am able to offer drop-in visits any day of the week, any time of day between 8am and 8pm. I offer overnight visits for up to 3 consecutive nights. Home visits and overnights: I double-check that all doors are securely locked after every visit, bring in mail, and ensure your home was well-maintained during my stay. Leash Safety & Walking: On walks, safety is non-negotiable. I use a secure grip, stay highly observant of our surroundings, and never allow interaction with unknown dogs or people on the street unless you give me permission. Whether handling a strong, high-energy breed, or a sensitive, anxious dog, I maintain total focus and connection with your dog. Cat Care: For drop-ins, I make sure to provide for all your cat's needs including changing water, feeding, scooping litter, and playtime, grooming, and cuddles as requested. I also take time to read your cat's body language—if they want play and interaction, I'm fully present; if they prefer a calm presence from a distance, I respect their boundaries. I'm experienced with brushing and cleaning ears, so I am happy to offer that upon request, depending on your cat's temperament and needs. Updates: You will receive detailed updates and photos during every visit and at regular intervals during overnight stays.
“We LOVE Claudia and so do our cats!! She is so reliable and has checked in with us if a cat is acting funny or off. We feel really comfortable leaving our cats when she is sitting (and that is coming from a very anxious cat mom).”

“Julia is amazing!! Our new puppy, Mocha, fell in love with her immediately, and Julia is so good with her! Julia is very kind and attentive with Mocha, and she has done a great job helping Mocha with leash training and good behavior on walks. Julia takes excellent care of Mocha and always sends prompt, thoughtful, and detailed updates to us for each visit. Best of all, she is incredibly reliable, always on time, and she is extremely flexible with schedule changes or if something comes up at the last minute. We can't imagine using anyone else!”

“Amber was a great caretaker for my pet cat over the Holidays! My pet was well taken care of and had lots of pets and play time. Would highly recommend!”

“Dani is the best cat sitter and we totally recommend her! She pays attention to detail and instructions, you can tell she really enjoys to spend time with your fur babies🐾😊”

“My cat Hannah was well taken care of and in good hands while I was away! Lisa gave great drop-in visits and left Rover cards to keep me updated. Thanks for a reliable service!”

“Spencer and Julia were fantastic! They were super flexible for a meet and greet before completing a drop in visit for me. During the visit, they messaged me when they arrived, made sure to leave a note about how my dog did, and reassured me that they had locked the doors back when they left — all without me asking first. They sent multiple pictures and went above and beyond what I had asked them to do to care for my pup! Can’t recommend them highly enough!”

“I would highly recommend Nicole for your pet sitting needs! She took great care of my cat while I was away and left detailed updates so I knew he was in good hands.”

“Lauren was amazing with our two cats! She provided great updates and was so sweet with them! Would definitely book her again for future visits!”

“Kimberly was so fantastic! She was able to help me with a last minute trip and was so sweet and good to my older kitty while I was gone. Highly recommend her! Will be using her for any future travel!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Fort Myer
I booked Hera to cat sit my 5 year old European short hair while on vacation and couldn’t be happier that I did. My family and I were gone three weeks and my cat gets really lonely and anxious when by himself for too long, his nervous habits have been apparent even when we’ve come back from past trips. Not this time. Barney was happy and seemed content and well fed. It was evident as to why thanks to Hera’s daily photo updates with him. I’m very protective over my cat and love him dearly, it was so relieving to see he had a friend to play with while we were gone. He was well fed, his litter was cleaned, and he was cared for! Thank you again, Hera. <3

Dorothea encapsulates everything you could possibly want from a sitter. She’s responsible, pays attention to detail, communicates wonderfully, and has a genuine knack for creating a safe and affectionate atmosphere for pets. I’m so grateful to have had the peace and mind she provided while I was traveling, I recommend her to everyone.

Yulia did a great job taking care of Milo while I was away! She left detailed reports every check in, was timely in her responses & check in times, and even helped clean up a spilled rice mess in the kitchen after Milo chewed through the bag. Would recommend her and book again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fort Myer. On Rover:

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
