About: I’m a pre-vet student who just graduated from UVA and has grown up with two large dogs! I’ve also recently owned a hamster from a college lab! I have a lot of experience dog and cat sitting for friends and family including puppies, kittens, and senior dogs and cats. I also have about 100 hours of dog walking experience from a shelter so I am comfortable with reactive/fearful/energetic dogs, and another 100 from shadowing at a vet practice. I am currently looking for a vet assistant job so my schedule is open 7 days a week! I am used to all day pet sitting. I always make sure that I understand the instructions that I’m given and maintain clear communication with the owner if I have any questions. I never make any assumptions and always make sure that the owner is comfortable with any decisions that need to be made.
“Amazing communication, were super flexible and able to accommodate last minute booking, would absolutely use them again. My pups made quite a mess and they left my home spotless and even took out the trash and replaced the bag. Very thoughtful and considerate relieves alot of stress”

“Elise stopped in to watch our two cats, and we were all delighted with her care and communication. She was proactive about questions and accommodating to our scheduling needs. I enjoyed her updates and felt confident that my cats were being well-cared for.”

About: I have taken classes in dog behaviors and how they act when they might need a particular action done. I have a NAPPS certification, which is National Association of Professional Pet Sitters that is earned for all small animals, both including dogs and cats. I have had my own very young puppy, so I know how to handle and train them in a gentle manner that they will respond to. I have tons of experience in senior dogs and cats, so I am patient to more slow animals or paying attention to them more and making sure they have what they need. I have an extremely open schedule and can stay over for longer periods of time than most people. I am free almost every single day for hours on end, so finding when I can come over is no trouble. I’m easy to schedule if I need to house sit, and am extremely responsible and willing to stay overnight when needed. I love taking care of animals in their own homes, knowing they’ll feel the most comfortable surrounded by their familiar surroundings. The only thing I care about is that your furry companions are safe and cared for in a way that they don’t feel out of place or missing the love they got before you left them in my care.
“Amada is amazing, she took very good care of our 90lb/41kg Airedale terrier, Wembley while we were on vacation. Wembley is a rescue and is very discerning with his human friends. We will use Amanda again.”

About: I have experience caring for both cats and dogs for friends, including feeding, playtime, walks, and keeping them comfortable while their owners are away. I also have experience with multi-pet households. My own cat has successfully shared a home with my friend’s small Lab/Corgi mix, and I’ve also slowly introduced her to another cat, giving both cats the time and space they needed to adjust and comfortably coexist. I’m patient and attentive to each pet’s personality, boundaries, and routine. I have a flexible work schedule and live within walking distance of my office, which allows me to split my day between working from home and going into the office when needed. This gives me plenty of flexibility to spend time with the cats and dogs I’m caring for, whether that means walks, feeding, playtime, or simply keeping them company throughout the day. I always try to follow each pet’s normal routine and make sure they feel safe and comfortable in my care. I have my own cat at home and have experience slowly introducing her to both cats and dogs, so I understand the importance of giving pets their own space and never forcing interactions. If I’m caring for a pet in my home, I can keep pets separated when needed and introduce them gradually based on their comfort level. I’m also attentive to feeding instructions, litter boxes, walks, medications or other care needs, and I’m happy to provide regular photo and text updates while you’re away.
About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was young, and animals have always been a big part of my life. I’m currently a live-in nanny, and I also care for the family’s dogs. When their owners are away, the dogs stay with me and even sleep in my room so they feel safe and comfortable. I currently work part-time as a live-in nanny, which allows me some flexibility for pet care. However, I do have a busy schedule with regular dog-walking clients, so availability can vary. Please message me first to confirm scheduling before booking. I’ll always do my best to accommodate your needs if I have an open time slot. I prioritize safety, trust, and a calm environment for every pet in my care. I carefully follow each dog’s routine, feeding instructions, and any special requirements provided by the owner.
“This was my first time using Rover, and Elizabeth eased a lot of my initial nerves and was a wonderful sitter for my cat! Everything went really smoothly, and she sent me photos and videos when she came to visit. She was very communicative throughout the entire process, and I felt better knowing my cat was gonna be cared for by a trustworthy person. I had a really nice experience with Elizabeth and will most definitely want to work with her again! Thank you for your help!! 💕”

“Afnan is so wonderful. I always know my kitty is in great hands when Afnan is watching her! I even joke that my kitty likes it better when I leave and her favorite cat sitter gets to come spend time with her. Perfect communication and flexibility. Thank you again 💜”

“Highly, highly, highly recommend working with Roshni! Roshni is AMAZING. We could not have asked for more from a sitter-she was incredibly communicative and gave detailed reports on how "the kids" were doing. Right away, I felt like we really connected on care concerns, and she asked wonderful follow up questions to unsure their needs were met. One of our cats is very tempestuous, and he does not take kindly to anyone. She gave him his space, but still reported on his interactions! Roshni was also dependable not only for time, but checking on a house concern we had, and reporting back to us as soon as she could while she was at the house. Definitely regulars for as long as Roshni will have us! :)”

“Youyou took excellent care of my two cats. While I was away, I never once worried about their well-being. During her check-ins she sent tons of photos with detailed accounts of their activities. I wouldn’t hesitate to book her again!”

“Byamba was so helpful and flexible when we had to change our schedule last minute and request a different time, and include a new medication our dog needed. Our two dogs enjoy him and he is a skilled Rover. I highly recommend him.”

About: I have owned several dogs throughout my life, and I have always loved animals. Currently, I have a pet cat, so I love being able to spend as much time with dogs as I can! I have volunteered pet shelters for a few years, and I have been a dog sitter/walker for neighbors and family friends as well. I like to make sure to follow owner rules, as well as keeping them updated as much as I can. I work part-time, so I have a flexible schedule! I am free most days and business hours, so I can plan pet care around work. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns! I am unable to take care of any other pets in my home, but am able to take care of pets in yours! I am able to walk, feed, and sometimes groom pets if needed!

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - West McLean
Sarah has watched our cat at least three times now for extended periods of time and has done an excellent job every single time. She goes the extra mile by offering to do things such as watering plants, tidying up, rinsing off dishes, visiting extra days, and we are very appreciative and fortunate to have Sarah helping us, thank you!

Victoria was wonderful with both of my cats. She was caring, attentive, reliable and kept me updated throughout her visits.Even my usually shy cat warmed up and came to her which really showed how gentle and comfortable she made him feel.I felt completely at ease knowing both of my cats were in such good hands. She clearly loves animals and went above and beyond to make sure they were happy and well cared for. I would definitely recommend her and would be happy to book her again!

Elisabeth came through for us in a crisis and we can’t recommend her enough! She was flexible and willing to extend her pet sitting duties by a couple of days when the airlines cancelled our flight. Also our kitties loved her and she did a stellar job with photo updates.

Phoebe has been taking care of our cat, Smokey, for quite some time now, and we couldn’t be happier. She’s reliable, communicative, and always makes sure Smokey is well cared for while we’re away. We really appreciate the thoughtful updates and photos, which give us so much peace of mind. It’s obvious she genuinely cares about the pets she watches, and Smokey is always happy and relaxed when we get home. We trust Phoebe completely and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and caring pet sitter!

Joaquin went above and beyond in every sense. In addition to this already being a last minute request, he provided detailed daily updates on my Aeris, spent time with him, and even cleaned up Aeris’ food area and took out the trash. I’m so glad to have found him and would gladly rebook.

Yiting is truly the best! She took amazing care of my cats while I was away. Every visit, she cleaned their litter boxes thoroughly, took the waste bags out right away, and even helped keep my home clean and tidy. My cats are very shy, slow to warm up, and usually do not feel comfortable around strangers, but Yiting was incredibly patient with them. She spent time playing with them, gave them plenty of attention, and even put on TV shows for them. My cats absolutely loved the shows she chose! She also sent me tons of photos and videos, which gave me so much peace of mind, and she always kept me updated on how they were doing. I have honestly never met anyone who loves and understands cats as much as Yiting does. She is truly one in a million, and I cannot recommend her enough!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy.
