“Kayly is AMAZING!!! She house sat for us and always communicated through texts and pics to let us know how our doggo was doing. She took Rizzo for walks around the neighborhood, played fetch with her, snuggled; all the things our dog loves :) She went above and beyond and we will absolutely be reaching out to Kayly again when we are away.”

“Margaret was amazing with Oly, very frequent with updates, and overall communication. Oly didnt want to leave when I picked him up. Will definitely be booking with her again.”

“Absolutely fabulous! She is an outstanding communicator, sent tons of pictures, and took great care of an old dog and a neurotic one. 10000% would recommend and use again! 💕”

“There’s nothing better than coming home to your dog after a long trip especially when he’s calm and relaxed because he was well taken care of. Juan allowed me this joy. It was the first time I’ve used him and Romeo took to him right away. Juan updated me daily and was responsive to messages. He also left my house in great condition. Thank you for taking care of my baby. We’ll be seeing you again!!”

“Tasha was wonderful to work with. She was very responsive and it was easy to coordinate with her. She sent daily updates, pictures and videos and was great with my pup. Will def use her again!”

About: I have pet sat for my neighbors since I was 15 years old, professionally so for a collective 8 years. (from childhood to today totalling 21 years) I grew up with at least one dog in my parents household, loved both our family dogs through their senior years and beyond. I am pet cpr/ first aide certified, currently own a 9 year old Grey Domestic short hair cat, Thor, and my 28 year old horse, Riley. I am looking to head back to school for veterinary medicine with focus on large animal sports medicine/orthopedics. Eventually mixed practice too. In the horse world, I have 33 years under my belt, with my godmother introducing me at age 3. I am passionate about pet care, large and small. Most experience with cats, dogs, and horses and looking to expand. From the toy breeds of canine, to the extra large goofs, I enjoy caring for your loved ones as if they were my own. Shy guys? No problem! I take my time letting them get to know me without offense. Need a little extra help on training homework from your professional training team? Walk me through and I am more than happy to continue with their routine. I'm a softie for seniors. Looking forward to meeting you all and your pets! Available for walks, pop ins now! Currently in the process of signing up to renew my pet cpr and first aid certification. And I hope to start vet med prerequisites online at NoVA Community College. The later I am able to balance with all the attention on your pets. My neighborhood is nearby Scott's Run, Great Falls Park and Riverbend Park here in McLean and Geat Falls, Virginia. If ok with pet parents, I can take them for a walk (one at a time) during in home boarding. We don't have a fenced yard but our neighborhood offers plenty of walk routes. At client's home, I try to keep our walks with in the neighborhood and no socializing due to safety, even if your pup knows a neighbor's pup.
“Another great visit with Anne! This is the 3rd time we have used her for an extended home stay. She takes great care of our old boy Porter, communicates daily with notes and pictures and kept the house in perfect order.”

About: I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities over the years. I raised my own dog from puppyhood and also have experience fostering, so I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine, and comfort level. I’m comfortable with walks, feeding, playtime, crates, and keeping up with your dog’s normal routine. I know how important it is to have someone you genuinely trust with your pet, so I’ll treat them like they’re my own and keep you updated while they’re in my care. I’m also comfortable with multiple-dog households and dogs that may need a little extra patience and attention. I work from home full-time, which gives me a lot of flexibility throughout the day for walks, potty breaks, playtime, feeding, and plenty of attention. I’m also able to accommodate many last-minute requests. If you happen to live in my building or nearby, even better — I’m happy to help with quick walks, drop-ins, or care when something comes up unexpectedly. I live in a secure high-rise and provide a calm, clean environment where your dog will get plenty of individual attention. I’m comfortable following whatever routine your dog is used to, including feeding schedules, walks, crate routines, and any house rules you have in place. I’m very mindful about leash safety, elevators, doors, and interactions with other dogs, and I’ll always keep you updated so you know your pup is safe and happy.
“Kelley was a thoughtful and caring dogsitter for our 12 year old dog. She sent us daily updates, comforted him during summer thunderstorms and genuinely cared about him while we were gone. We were anxious to leave him and are so happy to have found Kelley!”

“With Wayne, both my pooch and my home were in excellent hands while I was away for several nights. I also appreciated his responsiveness to my texts and the daily updates and photos every morning. A stress-free experience that I look forward to repeating on my next trip!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West McLean
We had a great experience with Lei and would absolutely book with her again. She was an excellent communicator, sending regular updates throughout the entire stay. She also asked thoughtful questions ahead and during the stay, which showed she genuinely wanted to understand our and our dog’s routine! She treated our home with great respect and left everything clean and tidy for our return. We really appreciate her professionalism and attention to detail she showed throughout the experience. Highly recommend!

Jane was wonderful - she was clearly very experienced and knowledgeable and was willing to help us on short notice! She was so thorough in making sure she had all the info needed to feel comfortable caring for our pets! We appreciated her updates and that she left our place in great condition - we would absolutely book with her again!

Jori is truly the best dog sitter we could ask for! She is incredibly kind, communicative, and professional, and we always feel completely at ease knowing our dog is in her care. She goes above and beyond to make sure our dog feels loved, comfortable, and right at home. It’s clear that she genuinely cares for the animals she watches and treats them like family. We couldn’t recommend Jori more highly and are so grateful to have found such an amazing dog sitter!

Landrum was a life saver! He took excellent care of my dog while I was an away on a last minute trip - he even extended his stay when something came up - that really saved me! Not only was he helpful in accommodating my emergency travel plans, but he took such good care of Bowie and sent lots of photos. It look like they were having a blast - I could see Bowie was truly happy. Really puts your mind at ease when you know your pets are in good hands. Would definitely recommend!!!

Pam took very good care of our two cats. Unfortunately our rambunctiou 10-month old kitten injured his leg (not her fault) shortly after we left for two weeks and she ended up taking him to the vet twice, administering his meds, and looking after him while he was confined to one room on vet's orders to help him heal. Through it all she was very caring and concerned and kept us fully informed on what was going on. Knowing she had trained as a vet tech reassured us that the cats were in good hands and let us enjoy the rest of our vacation.
Alice is fabulous! She was absolutely wonderful with our little morkie! She was caring, attentive, dependable and kept us updated while we were away giving us complete peace of mind. It was clear from the moment we met Alice that she genuinely loves animals and takes her responsibility very seriously. We came home to a happy, well-cared-for dog and a spotless home! She even cared for my 97 year old mother while we were gone, running errands for her and helping with meals. We can’t say enough wonderful things about Alice!! She is an angel.

There are no adequate words to describe Yiting's incredible gift with animals and our gratitude for her work with us! We have a dog with very special needs, but from the first moment our dog interacted with Yiting, he was at ease and connected with her as if they'd known each other for years. This is entirely due to Yiting's innate ability and specialized training to connect with animals in a way that dignifies them and their needs, helping them feel secure. I am so thankful we found Yiting. She will be our #1 go-to for anything our dog needs in the future. And she took absolutely wonderful, thoughtful care of our home and even our two birds as an overnight sitter. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

Amanda has house/dog sat for our two pups for the last couple of years, and she is simply the best. Not only has she done all of the ordinary things wonderfully—being timely, taking care of all of the doggie meds, taking them for great walks, sending cute pics, keeping the place spotless, etc—but she has gone above and beyond countless times for us. Taking care of the pups on short notice and extending stays when life has thrown emergencies at us, shuttling them to the vets, and taking great care of our home, plants, and cars. You name it. And the best thing is she gives them love. We are moving, alas, and will truly miss Amanda. But if you are lucky enough to have her watch your pets and homes, you will thank me for steering her your way.

YASMEEN IS AWESOME!! Yasmeen cared for my two cats and my home for two and a half weeks while I was out of the country. I cannot say enough good things about her. At our meet and greet, she was warm and friendly and asked excellent questions. Any anxiety I had about being gone for so long disappeared after meeting Yasmeen. While I was gone, Yasmeen was proactive in sending updates, pictures and video of the cats. One had just started needing medicine with her meals, and Yasmeen handled that with ease. I could tell from the video updates that my cats felt comfortable with her - and in fact one of them shared lots of cuddles and play time. When I returned, my house was just as I left it, and the cats were happy and healthy. I'm sure they miss her! I am so grateful to Yasmeen and will definitely work with her again!

Gregory (Dean), was a terrific house sitter for our large mixed breed boy while we took a bucket list vacation for two weeks. He took good care of both our dog and our home, watered plants, brought in mail, and did great job bonding with our sometimes shy guy. I would absolutely recommend him.

Clare did a fantastic job house sitting and watching our dog for 12 days. She kept us well informed and shared lots of pictures so we could see how he was doing every day. When the power went out for an extended period, she was on top of things and even offered to take our dog to her home until power returned. I would definately use her services again and highly recommend her as a provider.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West McLean walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West McLean maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West McLean choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
