“I can’t say enough great things about Camille! From the moment we met, it was clear how much she genuinely cares about animals. She gave lots of love, attention, and playtime—and kept us updated with messages and photos, which gave us total peace of mind while we were away. Camille is reliable, kind, and professional—we will absolutely be booking again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for top-notch care. ★★★★★”

“Katherine took great care of Bella and our home! She was prompt and thoughtful. We got regular updates from her and we really appreciated the communication. We will definitely ask her to watch Bella again in the future.”

“Lauren was quick to respond to the request and asked thoughtful questions during a meet and greet. Clear communication throughout, stayed in contact with pictures, returned to a clean home.”

“Rico took such great care of our dog Patch. He took the time to get to know him and all of his little quirks, exercise routine, and medication. Rico was excellent at communicating with us and sent lots of pictures and videos while we were gone. He put our minds at ease so we could enjoy our son’s wedding and festivities out of town. Also, the house was well taken care of and Patch was very happy and chill when we got home. The only issue is we said Rico’s name and he got excited and started looking for him. :)We would give Rico many more stars if possible. Thank you again.”

“Maddie did a wonderful job watching our two fur babies over our wedding weekend! She sent ample pictures and gave us daily updates, which we really appreciated. She also left our home clean and well taken care of. We would absolutely book Maddie again!”

“Communicative, friendly, and sent great pictures throughout the stay. House was clean and my pup was happy and calm when I returned - which is a great sign that she enjoyed her week with Eric!”

“David is the first sitter we have used on Rover for our dogs and cat, while we were away for the weekend. He is phenomenal; our nervous pups took to him immediately and I got pics of relaxed, cuddling dogs - and our GSD is not typically a cuddler so this was even more remarkable. All the pets were calm and happy when we came home. He took great care of our home as well. We will definitely rebook! We are very happy with his care.”

“Natalie was great with our dogs while we were out of town. She even came back in the late evening to let them out one more time before we got home since she knew we’d be late. We would definitely have her back anytime. Thank you so much Natalie!”

“Ona is wonderful. We were gone for about 2 weeks and she was wonderful for all our critters including (one large dog with some separation anxiety, one large dog who can be bit of a handful on walks). She communicated with me daily. We were able to enjoy our vacation knowing our home and beloved pets were in such good hands.”

“Ranait was an incredible house sitter for my shy and nervous dog! She had last minute available to help us out in a pinch and was so thoughtful in her communications and updates. She took excellent care of the house and most importantly, my furbaby. We’d use Ranait again in a heartbeat!”

“Christine took great care of our two dogs and our home for a full week. We received updates daily with pictures of the dogs enjoying their time with Christine and came home to the house in fantastic shape. We hope to have Christine again when we’re out of time next!”

“We had a great experience with Katherine as our dog sitter! She did an amazing job with our 5 month old puppy, Joy, who has a ton of energy. Katherine stayed with her for 4 days, kept her active with lots of play and fetch, and even helped work on leash training. Joy was clearly comfortable and well cared for the entire time. We will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Cassidy took great care of our dog Scooby, who is a 100 pound German shepherd. She spent the night in our house with him, took him out multiple times a day, fed and played with him, while sending us pictures and keeping us updated throughout our entire trip. Scooby never had a sitter before but Cassidy made him feel comfortable the entire time. We arrived home to a happy and healthy boy. We would absolutely recommend Cassidy and hope to use her again in the future!”

“Gianna was amazing. We were visiting from out of town and booked her pretty last minute. She came to meet our pup a few hours before sitting for her. She asked such good questions about how to best care for her. She was flexible about start and end times. We highly recommend her.”

About: In highschool I was very popular in my neighborhood from doing there dog nails, to dog sitting, over night stays, and even medications. Even back in high school I had a part time and school and still made sure the fur babies were taken care of. To this day I still dog sit for my neighbor. I also worked at a doggy daycare for about 6 months then i moved, I learned so much while I was there in that short period of time from learning to gain respect and how to control a group of 15+ dogs . And was in a animal science program in highschool with a mentorship at a clinic, then tried to go to college for my vet tech degree but too expensive(still paying that off). I also do have a very energetic German shepherd who I train every day she knows pretty much everything(sit, lay down, roll over, paw, other paw, high five, spin, heel, center, look, leave it, back up, and wait). I also dog sat for my boyfriend's coworker who had an older pointer who had a seziure not only did I comfort the dog but I called owner asap then vet, I then called off of work. Just because it's not my animal doesn't mean I will love them any less. But the take away from all that is I have a lot of experience in the animal department. I'm currently working part time and have a lot of free time on my hands and love being around animals . I only work wensday-saturday the other days I'm free. But as you can see with my profile I do have my own fur baby but my boyfriend never works nights or weekends so she won't be alone. For the pets at clients housing not only will I respond to you text asap even if I'm busy, I will also ask for guide lines and try to keep your dog on the schedule you have them on consistency is key, especially when a change like you leaving happens. I also am a big over thinker so before I let the dog out if you have a yard I will always make sure the gates are close and secure and make sure there's nothing laying out that would harm them. When I dog sit I imagine as if it's my own dog.
“Alexis did a great job with Maisie and Doc! Last minute Maisie was diagnosed with having fungus on her nose which required applying ointment twice a day. Alexis was on board to help with medication and tactics to try and distract Maisie from rubbing her nose. Alexis also took both dogs for regular walks, which they love! We felt comfortable while on vacation that both dogs were well cared for!”

Madeline took wonderful care of Dottie Mae and June Bug while we were away. She provided consistent communication throughout their stay and sent plenty of pictures, which gave us great peace of mind and let us see how happy and well cared for they were. It was clear that she genuinely cared about our dogs and treated them like her own. We came home to two happy, relaxed pups, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Madeline was a fantastic caretaker, and we will absolutely be using her again in the future. Highly recommend!

Saoirse was great with my pets! I had been burned before with previous sitters and they were very understanding about my concerns. Saoirse sent me pictures of my babes through the week, took my dog Sammy on an adventure. She kept me updated and very comfortable with her care of them. I would highly recommend her, and definitely would invite her to sit for me again. Thank you !

Ashlynn was great with our two dogs and their cousin, all staying at our house for the weekend. They absolutely love her, they took to her the minute she arrived when we did the meet and greet. They latched on to her upon her arrival for the weekend as well. I don’t even think they noticed we left, they were so captivated by Ashlynn. Great communication during the stay. We will definitely book with Ashlynn again if she is available.

Corwin took very good care of my two 15 year old Munchkin Cats. I had him do overnights since Mochi, the female needs medication daily. I rarely go away more than 4 days and I was very comfortable leaving for over a week. Corwin sent me many photos and I could see how both cats loved him being around! I definitely would recommend Corwin to take care of your fur babies! 😻😻

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rochester walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rochester maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rochester choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
