“Ella gave our fur babies all the love and attention we could hope for! They seemed really happy in the pics she sent us, and it was clear they were in good hand while we were away.”

“Lavinia took great care of our girl, Reese, as well as our home. We returned home to find things neater than how we left them and Reese was very, very happy! We highly recommend Lavinia and definitely plan to book her again.”

“Ricky did amazing! I have two dogs we rescued, little dachshunds. One of the boys we have can be loud, and aggressive. My partner and I were very anxious going into this fearful of any lash outs or boy could have. Ricky handled the my boys with tenderness and loving care. By the last day I was told my naughty boy was excited to see him come through the door for their daily walks. You’re amazing Ricky!”

“I wouldn’t hesitate to use Joey again! He not only took great care of my dogs but my house was just like I left it! He loves your pets as if they were his own and keeps in touch to let you know how they’re doing.”

“I can’t say enough great things about Camille! From the moment we met, it was clear how much she genuinely cares about animals. She gave lots of love, attention, and playtime—and kept us updated with messages and photos, which gave us total peace of mind while we were away. Camille is reliable, kind, and professional—we will absolutely be booking again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for top-notch care. ★★★★★”

“I can’t say enough about Kate! After this stay she feels like family ! She kept us up to date on all our pets activities and bonded with both our dog and cat in ways that even surprised us. She and her husband James are truly pet whispers !! I really think our dog misses her and while he was excited to for us to return home he perks his ears up and goes to the door at the mention of her name !! We will definitely use again.”

“Nikole took great care of our boys during the holidays! Our youngest pup can be a handful but everyone was happy and healthy when we got back. We so appreciate her help!”

“This was our first time using Emily and she was great! Friendly, communicative, & accommodating, took great care of our fur babies, and left things better than she found them! I appreciated her flexibility with a few last minute requests and that she made sure to ask questions on anything that was unclear. Would absolutely use Emily again!”
“Annaliese was the right sitter & my dogs instantly felt comfortable upon meeting her. I received several updates with photos as to how the dogs were doing, she stuck to schedule & instructions I left, and she has positive Energy.”

“Gianna was amazing. We were visiting from out of town and booked her pretty last minute. She came to meet our pup a few hours before sitting for her. She asked such good questions about how to best care for her. She was flexible about start and end times. We highly recommend her.”

“Edward did a great job for us. He and our dog Buddy got along famously, and he was especially diligent about keeping us informed about Buddy’s time with him. Edward stayed with Buddy for five days and kept us up-to-date throughout. Additionally, the house was left in perfect condition. We will certainly use Edward for our next trip away.”
“Rico was great!! He house-sat for our 2 dogs for 4 days while we were out of town. He took a lot of pictures so we could see they how they were doing and took them on lots of walks. I will definitely be calling on him again.”

“James and Kate are the best dog and cat sitters ! We trust them so much and they care for our pets like they are their own. I seriously think our dog is sad when they leave lol”

About: I have had a beautiful, high maintenance cat for many years, who has needed a variety of medications and accommodations since I have had him. So I have done research and practice in how to best take care of older cats that need extra care. I have done ear drops, eye drops, pills, oral syringes, and diabetes syringes. I have also been pet sitting for several years for a wide variety of animals, including a range of dogs, rabbits, turtles, and lizards. I take instructions very seriously, and I love to send photos of pets to their owners while I am with their pets. I prefer the opportunity to meet the pets and owners before pet-sitting, to make sure I am clear on expectations and instructions. I work Monday-Friday, 8-5 most weeks, with some flexibility. I have my own car so I am able to go anywhere in a pretty timely manner. I prefer to meet the pets and owners before I do any pet sitting, to make sure I am clear on all instructions and I know what to watch out for. I always check doors carefully to prevent pets from going where they shouldn't, and I don't trust any gaps in fences or doorways because these little guys can wiggle through small spaces.
“Christine was absolutely fantastic! She took great care of our big girl while we were gone for four nights. She stayed at our house and everything was perfect. We loved her!”

“They provided an amazing experience for my dog! Took them on so many walks and played with them to keep them engaged. Very communicative with me about any problems or concerns. Will absolutely book them again!”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Rochester is £50
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Rochester
Anna is just the sweetest and super easy to work with! She showed up earlier than expected and I knew I picked the right person! She showed an interest and was very easy to chat with. I was happy to get pictures. She also checked in before she left to make sure I was on my way. Very very very happy with Anna! Thanks again!!!

Katherine was wonderful with my mini doxi!! She’s super old, has kidney disease, united vision, mostly deaf and still stubborn like a doxi and Katherine handled her wonderfully!! My pup was even looking for her when I got home like where’d my new friend go?! She stayed at our house and took great care of things while we were away and was responsive to all messages. We’ll absolutely use Katherine in the future!!!

Komal is amazing! My 7 month old puppy loved her. Komal was able to stay at my house with her and kept her on her normal routine for a week we were out of town for a family wedding. She sent frequent updates and pictures and my girl was as happy as could be. So glad I found her, and she will be my go to sitter from now on! 10/10 recommend 🐾

Beverly did a great job taking care of my two high anxiety dogs at our home. She stayed for 3 nights and sent lots of pictures and updates. She left the house exactly as we left it. No problems at all! She was very sweet and professional when I met her for a meet and greet and in all of our correspondence. I will definitely be reaching out to her again for future trips!

She was wonderful during our entire trip. We truly feel like she gave our dogs a vacation while we were on vacation. She did a wondeful job communicating daily and providing updates. We will 100% be using her moving forward. Our dogs loved her and she was comfortable and confident.
I honestly don’t think we could have asked for a better person to care for our three dogs. Leaving them behind is always hard, but from the moment she came into our home, she made us feel completely at ease. She didn’t just “watch” our dogs — we can tell she genuinely cared for them, loved on them, and treated them like they were her own as soon as we returned from our trip and saw our dogs. Knowing that all three of them were happy, comfortable, and getting so much attention while we were away meant the absolute world to us. She was incredibly thoughtful, responsible, communicative, and went above and beyond in every way. We came home to three happy dogs and a home that was exactly as we left it. Christine gave us the ability to actually relax and enjoy our time away because we knew our babies were in the best possible hands. We are so incredibly grateful for everything she did for our dogs. She truly became someone we would feel completely comfortable trusting again, and we wouldn’t hesitate for a second to have her stay with them again. If you’re lucky enough to book her, you can feel completely confident that your pets will be loved, cared for, and treated like family. 🐾 Thank you so much for taking such amazing care of our babies! We appreciate you more than you know.

Nikole was great! From the first 2 minutes of the meet & greet, Oreo was completely attached to her. She was kind, communicative, and very thorough. You can absolutely tell she loves animals and what she does to care for them. We will definitely book with Nikole again for our girl and future fur babies to come 🤍 Thank you!

Hannah was amazing! She kept us posted on how our babies were doing with some adorable photos, cared for them with love and gave them lots of special attention. She also dealt with their shenanigans with expertise and grace. Thanks, Hannah, for caring for our fur-family!

Olivia is absolutely amazing! My cats instantly trusted her at our meet and greet. I am super anxious leaving my 2 cats but she was so communicative with me and provided such great updates- I felt so at ease. I will absolutely use Olivia again. I have very high expectations for care for my cats, She went above and beyond my expectations and then some! Thank you!!

Our cats can be pretty skittish with new people, but Luis was so patient and kind with them. He took the time to earn their trust instead of rushing them, and it really showed. By the final day, Kiki had completely warmed up to him and was loving on him! We really appreciated the updates and felt completely at ease knowing they were in such good hands. We’d absolutely book with him again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rochester walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rochester maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rochester choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
