“We are a repeat client with Emily and she is just wonderful with our dog and cats. She is reliable, caring and takes great care of our pets and home. She is our go-to sitter when we travel.”

About: I was born and raised to love dogs. I grew up in a household that bred Rottweilers and I could not be anymore grateful for the lessons of love and care for animals it instilled in me. I began caring for other's pets when I was in high school. Over a decade later I have had experience in short and long-term overnight care/house sitting, day-visits, walks, and some medication administration for pets of all ages and sizes. I have a special spot in my heart for senior pets and giving them the extra love and care they deserve. I know that every home and pet has unique needs and ways to be taken care of. I believe with clear communication I am able to approach each new pet care situation with confidence that we can both feel when you leave your loved ones in my care! I am currently just working part time and have lots of flexibility/weekend availability. I love to take early morning walks with dogs, especially given that it's summer I keep the heat in mind and have availability during the cooler hours. I have reliable transportation to come to your home! I am a very organized and clean person so if I am welcomed into your home I assure it will be treated with respect and care. For walks I believe I am very observant and aware of my surroundings, ensuring safety for both myself and your pet(s).
“Lauren was stellar with our large bunch of needy pets. We have an older cat who just wants to sit on a lap to be pet, a shy kitten who takes several days to warm up into his most energetic self, an old dog with several medications who needs frequent short, slow walks due to health issues, and a parrot. They all warmed up big time to her by the 2nd night and our dog would guard her when she got into bed (which she’s never done to anyone outside of family before). Lauren was also great at communication during the meet and greet to get all pet info, sent daily updates with pictures once we were gone, and even washed the sheets/towels she used while here, took out any trash she used, watered our plants daily, and folded the cleaned bedding/towels. I cannot recommend her highly enough.”

“Words cannot express how highly we think of Emily. We have used her often and she is fantastic but during the recent stay she went above and beyond. She identified that our dog was having a medical emergency, she took him to urgent care and then drove an hour and a half each way to get a prescription that he urgently needed (it was not available locally). She may literally have saved his eyesight. We will always be grateful for Emily and five stars is not nearly a high enough rating.”

“Abby went above and beyond my expectations. She stayed at my apartment and looked after my best friend. She is reliable and I would definitely book her again! She took Frank to the dog park each day and updated me with pics. Very happy, thank you Abby!”

“Lavinia took such great care of our pup and our house. She gave daily check-ins and made sure to reach out with any questions or concerns. We will be booking with her again in the future.”
“Emily kept me updated throughout the night, sent pictures & even was able to turn the water off to our toilet when a pipe burst! She kept the house clean (which is hard to do with 5 pets!) and left us a very thoughtful card for when we got home. Will be using her again!”

“Ricky did amazing! I have two dogs we rescued, little dachshunds. One of the boys we have can be loud, and aggressive. My partner and I were very anxious going into this fearful of any lash outs or boy could have. Ricky handled the my boys with tenderness and loving care. By the last day I was told my naughty boy was excited to see him come through the door for their daily walks. You’re amazing Ricky!”

“Absolutely most amazing person we could have found to watch our sweet (and very needy) pup! She is so kind and our dog loves her. Will definitely use her again and can’t say enough good things about Robyn.”

“Joey is simply fantastic. He really understands dogs and cats. Joey provided photos every day, which we really appreciated. Everybody looked great when we returned home. He clearly took time to groom the dogs. Not only did he take terrific care of our fur babies, but our house as well. He vacuumed, did laundry, and left the kitchen spotless! We can't wait to have Joey pet sit again!”
“Cody was a wonderful sitter for our two dogs. His communication was excellent. He provided daily pictures of our two dogs which was very comforting to us. We have already requested him for another house sitting need that we have coming up. Tim”

“My pets were very comfortable, happy, and well taken care of! This gave me peace of mind to relax and fully enjoy my vacation. I would definitely ask Rico to take care of my pets again!”

“Luis took great care of my dogs. Kodak is on a strict crate rest and meds. Luis was able to administer his meds and ensure he was ok. Jacky is my hype dog and he loved Luis. He sent pictures and updates through the stay. I had no worries:). If you’re looking for a sitter, Luis is your guy! I will definitely booked him for future needs.”

“Maria took such great care of my kitties while I was away camping with my husband! Both of my cats are a little over a year old and need a lot of play/ monitoring of their quirks. I really appreciate her attention to detail and the love she put into taking care of them. I highly recommend her! ❤️”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - East Rochester
Lauren (with the wonderful help of Nala!) was such a great caregiver for our senior dog, Zoe. She was obviously well experienced with senior dogs, and even gave us a couple of great ideas to make our home better suited for Zoe's aging. She was attentive and communicative, and very organized!

Alyssa was absolutely fantastic! She is such a sweetheart and not only did she have availability last min for me but she sent me photos along the way of my pups and took great care of them! I 10000% recommend her! And I will be booking her again in the future!! Thank you so much!

Hannah is a great sitter who cared for our senior dog with genuine kindness and compassion. She responded quickly when our dog wasn't feeling well and kept us informed throughout. Also, she maintained our home beautifully. Hannah's responsibility, attentiveness, and professionalism exceeded our expectations! We were very pleased with her service and will definitely book her again.

Clare was awesome! She's so down to earth and has a true love for animals. She watched my boy Luke, a 85lb lab/pit mix with a torn ACL, and she was great with him! I had trouble juggling my days and times for care needed and she was extremely flexible. Would highly recommend her.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Rochester walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Rochester maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Rochester choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in East Rochester. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
