“Joey was wonderful. He met with us the day before for a Greet & Meet. He arrived promptly on both days and was very experienced & well-prepared to take care of our Senior. Joey was very detailed about Rufus's care plan and asked lots of good questions. He sent plenty of beautiful photos and updates during the day. Joey was able to use positive reinforcement (treats and positive praise) to wean him off his belly band. This was incredibly helpful as we have been able to continue without it.”

“Skylor was awesome. Kept us updated with photos, lots of walks and won the dogs over instantly. Took great care of them. Everything in the house was picked up and clean, made me very happy. I highly recommend her and will use her from this point on !!!”

“Beverly did a great job taking care of my two high anxiety dogs at our home. She stayed for 3 nights and sent lots of pictures and updates. She left the house exactly as we left it. No problems at all! She was very sweet and professional when I met her for a meet and greet and in all of our correspondence. I will definitely be reaching out to her again for future trips!”

“Tammy was absolutely amazing. She followed instructions and was very attentive to my pets. I was very nervous leaving them as this was my first experience on Rover and having someone stay in my home. Tammy sent me many photos throughout the stay and communicated regularly which I truly appreciated and which also allowed me to enjoy my vacation. Another thing that I noticed is that SHE ENJOYED my pets. That in its self meant the world to me. Thank you!!!!”

“Marty is amazing! We always feel so confident and comfortable when she stays in our home with our elderly pups. She is flexible, supportive and so sweet. Thank you Marty!”

“Camille was amazing!!! She took great care of our chihuahua while we were away. I never once had to worry about a thing as I knew my pup was in great hands! The photos that were sent to us were amazing and also gave us a sense of ease. Will definitely book with Camille again!!! 😄”

“Emily was amazing! She was very communicative the whole time and sent lots of updates during the stay. It was so nice to know that our dogs were in good hands while we were away, and it was even better to come home to happy dogs and a clean house! We would definitely recommend Emily!”

“Stellar. Elizabeth went above & beyond sitting our dog & home. She gave our old man all the love he needed while we were away on vaca. Boarding used to be a great option, but now our pup is 14.5 yrs old, he prefers things a little more calm & having Elizabeth stay at the house was a great option. She came out for a couple visits before vaca, to get acquainted w Ollie & the house. Her communication was top notch & she even left the house (much) cleaner than we left it! (Very unnecessary, but very much appreciated!) Elizabeth is A+ & we’re so glad we found someone we can trust on Rover.”

“Nadia is wonderful - fantastic communication, very reliable, clearly loves animals and cares very much about their happiness and well-being. My dogs were in great hands and we look forward to having Nadia care for them again.”

“Laurie was amazing with our 4 furbabies (2 cats and 2 dogs). She even dealt with the drama of the 4th of July. She sent pics and updates everyday so we missed them less. Highly highly recommend Laurie!”

About: I’ve been dog sitting, house sitting, and walking dogs for almost 12 years, and I’ve always loved being around animals! I grew up in a family with three dogs, and we also fostered puppies every summer. Because of this, I’m very comfortable caring for dogs of all personalities and energy levels, and I’ve had plenty of experience understanding their individual needs and routines. I’m responsible, attentive, and always make sure pets feel comfortable and cared for. I love giving dogs plenty of attention, exercise, and affection while their owners are away! I’m currently in nursing school, but I have plenty of availability to care for pets after school and on weekends! I’m usually done with classes by 1 PM at the latest and have most Mondays completely free. Wednesdays are my only more limited day, as I’m at a hospital from 6:30 AM–4:30 PM. On school days, I’m happy to let your dogs out before class and take them on a longer walk afterward so they can get some exercise. I’ll then have the rest of the day available for feeding, potty breaks, playtime, and anything else they need. On weekends, I have no school conflicts and can spend the entire day with your pups! When caring for pets in their home, I make sure to keep their routine as normal and comfortable as possible. I follow any instructions you leave for feeding, walks, medications, and potty breaks, while also giving them plenty of attention and companionship. I’m respectful of your home and always make sure everything is clean and in order before I leave. My goal is for your pets to feel safe, happy, and comfortable while you’re away!
“If you’re looking for a trustworthy, reliable, tentative dog sitter, Kylie is your person! She did a phenomenal job at communicating throughout her stay in our home and gave our pups the best care. Highly recommend!”

“Edward did a great job for us. He and our dog Buddy got along famously, and he was especially diligent about keeping us informed about Buddy’s time with him. Edward stayed with Buddy for five days and kept us up-to-date throughout. Additionally, the house was left in perfect condition. We will certainly use Edward for our next trip away.”

Michaelle was absolutely amazing to our two fur babies and kitty cat. She took extra great care of them and made sure they were healthy and happy and when one of our pups had an ear infection, she even took him to the vet for us!! 100% recommend she is the best!!

We cannot say enough good things about Lizzy. As very careful and intentional pet owners, we are extremely selective about who we trust to care for our dogs, especially in our own home. Wilson and Tucker are not just pets to us, they are family, and Lizzy exceeded every expectation we had. She cared for our dogs in our home for over a week, which was a non-negotiable requirement for us. Keeping them in their familiar environment with access to their fenced-in yard was important for their comfort and routine, and Lizzy handled this flawlessly. From day one, she followed our instructions precisely and treated our home and our dogs with genuine respect and care. Throughout our time away, Lizzy sent daily updates and photos, which gave us complete peace of mind. It was clear from the updates that Wilson and Tucker were relaxed, happy, and well cared for. She paid close attention to their individual needs and personalities and made sure they felt safe, loved, and well exercised. When we returned home, the house was exactly as we left it clean, tidy, and well cared for. That level of professionalism and attention to detail speaks volumes about her character and reliability. If you are looking for someone you can truly trust with your dogs and your home, especially for extended stays, Lizzy is exceptional. We would not hesitate to book her again and would confidently recommend her to anyone who wants thoughtful, responsible, in-home care for their pets.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mendon walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mendon maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mendon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mendon. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
