“Lauren did a great job house sitting with my cat! She brought her dog and was very conscientious about making sure my cat adjusted well to having her dog in the house. She was good with explaining how things were going and I was pleased to find my cat in good spirits and my house in order once home. I definitely plan to use her again and highly recommend her!”

“Rico took such great care of our dog Patch. He took the time to get to know him and all of his little quirks, exercise routine, and medication. Rico was excellent at communicating with us and sent lots of pictures and videos while we were gone. He put our minds at ease so we could enjoy our son’s wedding and festivities out of town. Also, the house was well taken care of and Patch was very happy and chill when we got home. The only issue is we said Rico’s name and he got excited and started looking for him. :)We would give Rico many more stars if possible. Thank you again.”

“Ricky "petsat" our elderly dog and 2 cats in our home for 4 nights and they were well taken care of. Our dog requires multiple medications and Ricky was comfortable with administering. He didn't balk at cleaning up little cat puke! He is quick with communicating and sent us photo updates. I felt comfortable that our fur babies were being well cared for. Thank you Ricky.”
“Lavinia was absolutely amazing with my dog and cat while we were away for a week! She went above and beyond taking care of them, and sent so many wonderful pictures every day. I would definitely recommend Lavinia to anyone looking for a pet-sitter!”

“Joey was fabulous! We set up a pre setting visit, and our dogs were immediately smitten with Joey! That set the stage for an amazing engagement with Joey. He sent daily updates and the cutest photos with clever & funny comments! Joey is a natural with dogs & we would highly recommend him!!!”

“Emily was so wonderful! She came and met our boys before booking, and they were so comfortable with her! She kept us updates while we were away and made sure to reach out ASAP with any issues or questions! Thank you so much again Emily!”

“Camille was amazing!!! She took great care of our chihuahua while we were away. I never once had to worry about a thing as I knew my pup was in great hands! The photos that were sent to us were amazing and also gave us a sense of ease. Will definitely book with Camille again!!! 😄”

About: I was born and raised to love dogs. I grew up in a household that bred Rottweilers and I could not be anymore grateful for the lessons of love and care for animals it instilled in me. I began caring for other's pets when I was in high school. Over a decade later I have had experience in short and long-term overnight care/house sitting, day-visits, walks, and some medication administration for pets of all ages and sizes. I have a special spot in my heart for senior pets and giving them the extra love and care they deserve. I know that every home and pet has unique needs and ways to be taken care of. I believe with clear communication I am able to approach each new pet care situation with confidence that we can both feel when you leave your loved ones in my care! I am currently just working part time and have lots of flexibility/weekend availability. I love to take early morning walks with dogs, especially given that it's summer I keep the heat in mind and have availability during the cooler hours. I have reliable transportation to come to your home! I am a very organized and clean person so if I am welcomed into your home I assure it will be treated with respect and care. For walks I believe I am very observant and aware of my surroundings, ensuring safety for both myself and your pet(s).
“Lynette did a great job staying with our dog and two cats! She was very responsive to my texts and sent several pictures throughout our trip. I could tell they were all well taken care of. Thanks, Lynette!”

“As soon as Lauren walked through our front door, Charlotte (our senior pup) wagged her tail & was ready to be petted. Lauren’s kindness and patience allowed us to leave for the evening knowing that Charlotte was in good hands. We can’t wait to use Lauren again!”

“Nikki stayed at our home with 3 of 4 of our pets for a full week. Our dog was still on a special diet for a recent illness and our one cat is diabetic so she learned to do his shots. She even helped with one of the feral cats that I feed by giving him some medication after a recent dust-up. She sent updates and photos every couple days and reached out when she had questions. We returned to a clean house and the pets were all happy. We would definitely use her for pet sitting again.”

“Stellar. Elizabeth went above & beyond sitting our dog & home. She gave our old man all the love he needed while we were away on vaca. Boarding used to be a great option, but now our pup is 14.5 yrs old, he prefers things a little more calm & having Elizabeth stay at the house was a great option. She came out for a couple visits before vaca, to get acquainted w Ollie & the house. Her communication was top notch & she even left the house (much) cleaner than we left it! (Very unnecessary, but very much appreciated!) Elizabeth is A+ & we’re so glad we found someone we can trust on Rover.”

“Abby went above and beyond my expectations. She stayed at my apartment and looked after my best friend. She is reliable and I would definitely book her again! She took Frank to the dog park each day and updated me with pics. Very happy, thank you Abby!”

“Ona is incredible and a dog whisperer. We have a highly anxious dog and Ona took the best care of her, got her to go outside and eat (which can be tough while we are gone). So thankful for her and highly recommended!!!”

“Natalie was great with our dogs while we were out of town. She even came back in the late evening to let them out one more time before we got home since she knew we’d be late. We would definitely have her back anytime. Thank you so much Natalie!”

“Emily was a fantastic sitter for our two cats and dog. This is our second time having her stay with our furbabies and we always know they are in good hands when she’s with them. She’s very communicative and provides us updates, which is so appreciated! She’s our go to Rover when we are out of town!”

“Christine took great care of our two dogs and our home for a full week. We received updates daily with pictures of the dogs enjoying their time with Christine and came home to the house in fantastic shape. We hope to have Christine again when we’re out of time next!”

“They provided an amazing experience for my dog! Took them on so many walks and played with them to keep them engaged. Very communicative with me about any problems or concerns. Will absolutely book them again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fairport
Hannah is a great sitter who cared for our senior dog with genuine kindness and compassion. She responded quickly when our dog wasn't feeling well and kept us informed throughout. Also, she maintained our home beautifully. Hannah's responsibility, attentiveness, and professionalism exceeded our expectations! We were very pleased with her service and will definitely book her again.

As soon as Lauren walked through our front door, Charlotte (our senior pup) wagged her tail & was ready to be petted. Lauren’s kindness and patience allowed us to leave for the evening knowing that Charlotte was in good hands. We can’t wait to use Lauren again!

Clare was awesome! She's so down to earth and has a true love for animals. She watched my boy Luke, a 85lb lab/pit mix with a torn ACL, and she was great with him! I had trouble juggling my days and times for care needed and she was extremely flexible. Would highly recommend her.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fairport walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fairport maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fairport choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fairport. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
