About: I have had a beautiful, high maintenance cat for many years, who has needed a variety of medications and accommodations since I have had him. So I have done research and practice in how to best take care of older cats that need extra care. I have done ear drops, eye drops, pills, oral syringes, and diabetes syringes. I have also been pet sitting for several years for a wide variety of animals, including a range of dogs, rabbits, turtles, and lizards. I take instructions very seriously, and I love to send photos of pets to their owners while I am with their pets. I prefer the opportunity to meet the pets and owners before pet-sitting, to make sure I am clear on expectations and instructions. I work Monday-Friday, 8-5 most weeks, with some flexibility. I have my own car so I am able to go anywhere in a pretty timely manner. I prefer to meet the pets and owners before I do any pet sitting, to make sure I am clear on all instructions and I know what to watch out for. I always check doors carefully to prevent pets from going where they shouldn't, and I don't trust any gaps in fences or doorways because these little guys can wiggle through small spaces.
“Lavinia was amazing! She kept us updated throughout the day and sent pics along the way. If she had any questions she did not hesitate to reach out. She was flexible with our travel plans - we extended our stay by an additional day and she was able to accommodate! She even left the most adorable sketch of our fur babies - it is getting framed and hung on the wall! If my dogs could talk I think they would say they loved being with her!!”

“Words cannot express how highly we think of Emily. We have used her often and she is fantastic but during the recent stay she went above and beyond. She identified that our dog was having a medical emergency, she took him to urgent care and then drove an hour and a half each way to get a prescription that he urgently needed (it was not available locally). She may literally have saved his eyesight. We will always be grateful for Emily and five stars is not nearly a high enough rating.”

“Joey was wonderful. He met with us the day before for a Greet & Meet. He arrived promptly on both days and was very experienced & well-prepared to take care of our Senior. Joey was very detailed about Rufus's care plan and asked lots of good questions. He sent plenty of beautiful photos and updates during the day. Joey was able to use positive reinforcement (treats and positive praise) to wean him off his belly band. This was incredibly helpful as we have been able to continue without it.”

About: I was born and raised to love dogs. I grew up in a household that bred Rottweilers and I could not be anymore grateful for the lessons of love and care for animals it instilled in me. I began caring for other's pets when I was in high school. Over a decade later I have had experience in short and long-term overnight care/house sitting, day-visits, walks, and some medication administration for pets of all ages and sizes. I have a special spot in my heart for senior pets and giving them the extra love and care they deserve. I know that every home and pet has unique needs and ways to be taken care of. I believe with clear communication I am able to approach each new pet care situation with confidence that we can both feel when you leave your loved ones in my care! I am currently just working part time and have lots of flexibility/weekend availability. I love to take early morning walks with dogs, especially given that it's summer I keep the heat in mind and have availability during the cooler hours. I have reliable transportation to come to your home! I am a very organized and clean person so if I am welcomed into your home I assure it will be treated with respect and care. For walks I believe I am very observant and aware of my surroundings, ensuring safety for both myself and your pet(s).
“Kate did a great job caring for our dog, cat, and house! She was reliable and communicative, with lots of photos. One thing that stood out to me was that she shared “bad” news like when my dog didn’t eat a meal. This is typical of my dog, and didn’t alarm me, but it built trust knowing that she told me everything that was going on instead of just saying “he’s great!” We will definitely try to hire Kate again.”

“Lauren was amazing taking care of my five dogs for a weekend trip! She was on time, communicated with me frequently, and my dogs loved her. Nala is such a perfect girl as well!”

“I can’t say enough great things about Camille! From the moment we met, it was clear how much she genuinely cares about animals. She gave lots of love, attention, and playtime—and kept us updated with messages and photos, which gave us total peace of mind while we were away. Camille is reliable, kind, and professional—we will absolutely be booking again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for top-notch care. ★★★★★”

“Skylor was awesome. Kept us updated with photos, lots of walks and won the dogs over instantly. Took great care of them. Everything in the house was picked up and clean, made me very happy. I highly recommend her and will use her from this point on !!!”

“Ricky did an amazing job taking care of our three dogs in our home! We have already booked him again for next month and as long as he wants to continue staying with our little pet family, he will be our first choice!”

“My dogs absolutely LOVED Rico! He did such a great job with them. And when we had a small “emergency” and couldn’t be home by the time scheduled he willingly stayed until my husband arrived hours later! I HIGHLY recommend Rico!!!”

About: I have been around pets of all kinds most of my life. Dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs you name it. I have an 8 year old bull mastiff named Brooklyn and a 4 year old cat named Cato both of which I got as babies and love them with all my heart. I have experience as well taking care of my friends puppy a few times in the past. I am a freelance graphic designer where I make my own schedule so I have a lot of free-time to care for your pets whenever you require my services. I will give your pet all the love and attention they need. If you have a more active pet no problem! I've played sports for years so we can play fetch or take a trip to the park. If you have a older pet or less active I can bring the activity level to where your pet is most happy and comfortable.
“Gianna was amazing. We were visiting from out of town and booked her pretty last minute. She came to meet our pup a few hours before sitting for her. She asked such good questions about how to best care for her. She was flexible about start and end times. We highly recommend her.”

“We hired Komal to stay at our house for our two dogs - one of which is quite high energy and anxious and the other who is 18 and needs some special attention. We were very happy with how everything went for the long weekend away. The dogs were happy and healthy when we got back and the house was neat and tidy. I really enjoyed getting to know Komal in the visit and got a great vibe right from the get go. We loved that she has so many years of experience. She made the whole thing very easy and sent plenty of updates - including what has become one of our all time favorite photos. I would absolutely recommend her very highly to other folks.”

“It’s safe to say that James is the best dog sitter we’ve ever had! He is timely, provides pictures, great communication, and is so great with our dog. He watched our German Shepherd for 5 nights and my mind was at ease that she was in good hands the whole time. He is respectful and treated our home like it was his own. We had a fantastic experience and will definitely be using James (& Katherine) in the future!”

“This was our second time using Kenan. He's really responsive and provides regular updates. Our fur baby got a bee sting while on a walk and Kenan let us know right away and kept an eye on Ruckus to make sure he was ok and didn't have a reaction”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Pittsford is $50
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Pittsford
Mary was an absolute joy to work with!! This was our first time having someone stay with our two dogs while away. Mary was amazing with them and made us feel so comfortable about the process. She was open to meeting our dogs prior to her stay and immediately showed how kind and wonderful she is with pets and people! She sent multiple messages and pictures, daily, which was so comforting. She showered our dogs with affection and attention. She took great care of our home and was so easy to have as a guest. I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was with Mary. I think our dogs were sad when it came time for her to leave! We look forward to using Mary again in the future!

Sarah was great! There were a few house issues that came up and she took care of everything expertly! The dogs loved her and were well taken care of while we were gone. This is the first time we have traveled as a family in a very long time out of concern for leaving the dogs. She made us comfortable and our time away was stress free. Recommend 100%!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Pittsford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Pittsford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Pittsford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
