“Kristen was everything we could have hoped for and more for our fur pups while we were away. I am always nervous leaving them but she had the best communication sending videos and pictures with updates. I could tell that they were happy and well cared for. We came home to a very clean house and pups and we will definitely be asking for Kristen again. Thank you for the best time for us all during our vacation. :)”

“I can't sing enough praises for Dana, who stayed looked after our home and pets or a whole month while we were out of the country. Throughout our time away, Dana kept us updated with the perfect balance of messages, and let me tell you, her updates were more than just routine check-ins. They were filled with anecdotes and little details that showed she truly got to know our pets. Her fun responses made it clear that she was spending quality time with them, making sure they felt loved and cared for in our absence. But it wasn't just our pets Dana took care of; she treated our home with the same love and respect. Coming back to a house that was not only well taken care of but also perfectly clean was amazing! It was evident that Dana went above and beyond to ensure everything was just right. Finding someone you trust to look after your furry family members is no easy feat, but with Dana, we hit the jackpot. Knowing that she's there to take care of our pets gives us such peace of mind when we're away. If you're searching for a pet sitter who will treat your animals like family, look no further than Dana – we couldn't have asked for anyone better!”

“Karli was great! From the time we met her and throughout the sitting she made us feel at ease that our babies were in good hands. Thank you so much Karli! We will be rebooking with Karli next time!”

“While I was away on my golf playing rounds, Eli looked after my dog wonderfully. Eli is such a kind and caring dog sitter. He treated my dog with so much love and attention, and I could tell my dog was happy and comfortable the whole time. I’m so thankful for him warm heart and excellent care. Highly recommended!”

“Sara was an excellent dog sitter. She provided us with updated photos and texts. She was kind enough to care for my dogs when they came down with kennel cough, while we were out of the country. I will be using her again to care for my pets.”

“Maggie and Willow are wonderful. Maggie stayed at my house for almost two weeks on a last minute booking. She sent updates daily and gave me peace of mind while I was gone. Would definitely book with her again!”

“Tracy is delightful! She took great care of my dog while we were away and left my home immaculate. I loved receiving photos of their walks and hangout time while I was away! Tracy was so patient with me (as a first time Rover user) with all my questions before booking! A huge plus... I can’t wait to trust Tracy with Bo again for our next trip!”

About: Hi! I've been lucky enough to grow up with animals my whole life, and I can't imagine life without them. Over the years, I've cared for dogs, cats, birds, fish, frogs, a bearded dragon, and even a tortoise. Being around so many different animals has taught me that every pet has their own personality, quirks, and way of showing love. I have experience with pets of all ages, from young kittens to senior dogs. One of my own dogs lived to be 16 years old, so I understand the extra patience, attention, and care that older pets sometimes need. I also attended training classes with him, which helped me learn more about understanding dog behavior and building trust through positive reinforcement. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles on the couch, or just having someone nearby, I'm happy to meet them where they're at. I’m also a runner and very active myself, so I love keeping up with energetic dogs and getting plenty of exercise and outdoor time together! My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away, and I'll treat them like they're part of my own family. I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your pets, so I'll always do my best to keep you updated with photos and messages. I'd love the chance to meet you and your pets and help make your time away a little less stressful! As a recent graduate currently applying to grad schools nearby, I have a flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to pet care. I’m able to plan my days around walks, drop-ins, and playtime, making sure pets get consistent attention and care. I’m also happy to do overnight stays when needed. I understand how important it is for pets to feel comfortable in their own home, and I do my best to keep their routine as normal and stress-free as possible while you’re away. Because my schedule is flexible right now, I’m able to be reliable and fully present for each booking without overcommitting. My goal is always to make sure your pets feel safe, loved, and well cared for. I care for pets in their own home by keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I follow all instructions closely, including feeding, walks, playtime, and any special care needs. I’m comfortable with pets of all ages and personalities and always adjust to what makes them feel safe and happy. Whether they’re energetic or more laid-back, I give them the attention and care they need. I also respect your home and keep things tidy, and I’ll send regular updates and photos so you can feel at ease while you’re away.
“Michael was our first rover experience, and was able to watch our 9yo Husky and 8mo golden retriever on short notice. Michael came ahead of time to meet the dogs and learn our routine, and then communicated when he’d be at the house, sent lots of pictures, and spent plenty of time with the dogs. Really appreciate how easy this was, when we would otherwise have to board our dogs, coordinate pick up times, etc. Will definitely use Michael again!”

“Jen did a house stay to watch my 4 year old golden retriever, Benny, for a weekend. Prior to the stay she came over for a meet and greet. Benny immediately took to her! She was a great communicator, understanding of Benny’s needs and medical issues, took great care of him and my house, and very flexible. I would definitely recommend Jen to others in need of a house sitting service!”

“Tammy was a great dog sitter! She took our dog on frequent outings, walks, and gave her lots of cuddles and love! She sent frequent updates while we were gone, and the left the house in excellent condition, probably better than when she arrived! Thanks again Tammy, will definitely book again.”

“She was great. Unfortunately, had some issues with my dog during my time away. She acted promptly and brought her to the vet within minutes of alerting me of the problem. Very responsible.”

“This is our second time booking with Yajahyra and we are very happy, again! We feel very comfortable leaving our two dogs with her, she sends photo updates and lets us know how things are going. Definitely continue to recommend her!”

“Kim was perfect watching our two boys while we were away on vacation. She followed all instructions, gave us great updates/pics, and best of all the boys loved her! She left my apartment exactly as it was before her stay, and was extra sensitive to me as it was my first time with a dog sitter. Highly recommend her and will book her again in the future :) thank you so much Kim!”

“Susan was wonderful with Buttercup! She took the time to come over before the booking to meet Buttercup and talk about the schedule. I always appreciate such attention to detail and Buttercup absolutely loved Susan so I new she was in good hands. I've already booked her again and know she'll take great care of my fur baby!”

“Regina was great!! Would absolutely recommend using her and will definitely try to book her again in the future. She was very courteous and respectful, followed all instructions and checked in with us if she had any questions. George was still needing his cone when she watched him, which was unexpected, but she did a great job managing that and he seemed to be very happy with her. We got daily photos and updates which we always love, and we returned home to a clean house and happy dog. Thanks so much for taking such great care of him and for leaving our house spotless!”

“We had another great experience with Kimberly watching our dog Driggs! Kimberly is super communicative, sends tons of photos, and followed all of our instructions to a T! Kimberly even went above and beyond to work on some of the training methods Driggs learned during obedience class! We felt totally comfortable despite traveling internationally because we knew Driggs was in good hands. When we arrived home, the house was spotless and Kimberly had even started the laundry for us which was so appreciated. Thank you, Kimberly!”

“We had a last minute cancelation for a dog sitter. Holly was able to house and dog sit with short notice while we were out of the country. Our fur-babies were well taken care of. Will use Holly again!”

Donna is a dream pet sitter! She is extremely kind, patient and conscientious.! Donna surpassed my expectations. She is the best! I’m very grateful for the kindness and love. She showed my little senior fur boy. I absolutely recommend her and I would hire her again.

Clarise did a wonderful job watching our 10yo Irish setter while we were on vacation. She kept us updated of how he was doing, sent pictures, and generally communicated very well. He was clearly well cared for and relaxed when we were gone. I would absolutely recommend her as a dogsitter.

Grace was great. We did a meet and greet before to check if everything seemed like a good match. She was kind and friendly to my pups. When away on my trip, she communicated daily and sent pictures. I loved the daily pics! My dogs seemed happy and well-cared for during her visit. And she left my house nice and tidy and the end of her stay, which is always a plus! 😁

So thrilled I found Kate - she was amazing with my two big dogs and was a huge help with our home while we were out of town. Highly recommend her for anything you need. She even had to help with some unexpected medication for one of my dogs and she had no issues taking care of him. Will definitely rebook!
Lori is outstanding. She took care of my 3 year old for 5 nights and days, and administered medication throughout the stay. She kept in regular communication so I could see photos of how my dog was doing, and left a sparkling house upon return. Dependable, consistent and high quality service from Lori!

Crystal saved us for a last minute weekend trip! She promptly set up a meet and greet and was able to house/dog sit for us the next day. She was so kind and caring with our dog. She sent frequent pictures and videos and our house was well cleaned when we returned home to our happy pup. Highly recommend her!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Encinitas walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Encinitas maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Encinitas choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Encinitas. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
