“Elizabeth truly took time to get to know and care for our girl Sweets. She was wonderful to communicate with and very understanding of the special needs and quirks of our sweet girl. We recommend her and will be using her again for sure!”

About: As a certified Holistic Health Practitioner I look at animal care from all aspects. I make sure they get good nutrition, exercise and interaction with other dogs. I am okay with senior dogs' needs, like diapers or special soft food or medication or even hand feeding. There are no cancer causing pesticides being used around our home and only bio-degradable non-toxic cleaners. For me dogs are supporting and protecting us on our journeys physically, emotionally, energetically and spiritually. I also offer canine massage. My husband and I are working from home and our daughter (19) is currently taking online classes. All of us love animals very much and enjoy being around them... We have a fully fenced yard (6 ft) and 2 little dogs ( one senior and one puppy) to keep your dog company. We have balls and toys to play with and your dog is welcome to share the dog beds and our couch with everybody. Our porch door is open all day which makes potty training easy and gives your dog plenty of outdoor time. We usually take everybody for a nice sunset walk and can add a nice beach walk to the day. We do not use any pesticides or harsh chemicals and there are no toxic/ poisonous plants in our yard/home.
“Julia made our San Diego visit so much more enjoyable as she watched our fur baby. She was very prompt, responsive, and flexible. Definitely requesting her again for our next visit.”

“Sydney was great with Duke for his first trial doggy day care session. Super communicative and easy going. Duke was excited to see her and came home happy and tired (in the best way)! Will definitely be reaching back out for future needs”

“Lan took very good care of Peanut. Last minute I had to change my reservation to assist my friend with her dog and Lan accommodated the situation with no hesitancy. Peanut was a happy camper and the photo helped to ease my concerns of him being in an unfamiliar place. Thank you so much for your care and accomodations.”

About: I’ve been taking care of animals, my whole life. This is the first time in my life I don’t have any of my own , and I’d love to give love to others dogs while owners are away. My schedule is very flexible as I make my own. I volunteer with seniors at a memory care facility for a part-time, and I volunteer to do flowers at my nearby church once a month. I have a small, fenced backyard and live by Moonlight Beach. I walk twice a day and would love to take furry friends along with me.

I make sure to take my own pup on walks early AM. But happy to adjust to your pets needs I live near dog parks, i walk 10,000 steps a day, and my pup is very friendly. If you’d like your pet to not to be around my pup this is understandable and we can discuss this.

About: Your furry family will be in very experienced and caring hands at our home which includes a five foot high fence on a half acre lot. We have been volunteer foster parents for Lab Rescue for several years so have lots of experience caring for various dogs and dog ages. We often care for our friends’ pets so could provide additional references upon request. Our kids are both at college so we are joining Rover to help pay for their college expenses. Look forward to meeting your pups! One of us is always at home or close by, and since we love to walk the property and neighborhood as well as go to dog parks, we are perfect for pampering dogs and providing a safe and active place while you are away! Totally fenced and dog friendly house! We are fine with dogs anywhere in our home. We do have a couple crates if that is preferred, and also have a couple dog doors to contain or separate any dogs as needed.

Many friends call on me to help walk, feed and pet/housesit for them when they go out of town. Over the last 7 years, I have worked as a Personal Assistant/Home Manager for many high level executives and have cared for their homes and pets. I have over 30 years experience with cats as well. I raised my own kittens and would be happy to care for yours as well! Sadly, I lost my 12 year old Golden Retriever, Jax, in October 2024, so I have a lot of extra love to give. “We are from Denver and booked Liz to watch our golden retriever while we went to hike Hanging Lake. Liz was SO great. She was super responsive and really prompt. We dropped off our pup early and she was waiting outside to get her and brought her out for us when we got back. It truly couldn't have been easier. It was clear that she took great care of our girl. I highly recommend her for locals or traveling hikers!”

I am so happy I found Alex and Madison as dog sitters! They have watched Dude a number of times and he has become so comfortable visiting them - such a great sign! Alex took care of Dude today and sent a number of text updates and photos...exactly what an anxious Dog Mom wants! I will definitely book day care with them again.

Katie is so professional and caring! She put us at ease immediately and was so loving toward our puppy. Her communication was clear and prompt. And, she was also very flexible regarding timing which helped us have a relaxing day away. I highly recommend Katie as a Rover sitter. You won’t find better!

Francinne is wonderful. She offered to do a meet and great ahead of time, free of charge! That really meant a lot to us, because my pup deals with separation anxiety, and I know meeting her and seeing her home ahead of time, helped him to feel more trusting and at home. Charlie can’t wait to stay with her again!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Encinitas commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
