“Michele was amazing! We needed a very flexible rover for day care services throughout our wedding weekend and she made everything so easy for us. She was a great communicator, provided us with updates and was so sweet to our pup!”

About: I have experienced pet sitting for a year and a half now. I am very reliable. I have watched puppies from 5 month old to very senior dogs. I have done oral medicine and making sure everything is followed I am working weekends only with kids, I am still reliable and open availability during the week. I am able to still make sure that your pet is cared for I am very trust worthy, I have worked with a couple of repeat clients, I’m only worried about making sure that your pet is satisfied with exercise and comfort while owners are away.
“Lori was very friendly & had great communication. My pup Jewels had a good time playing with her two sweet dogs & had plenty space for Jewels to play. She sent me photos & videos of her having a good time. Lori was very accommodating to my dog & I would highly recommend! Thanks again Lori for taking good care of my pup. 🙂”

“Thanks to Brandy and Lt Dan for taking such great care of my puppy Jo! It’s easy to see she had a wonderful day with you both and got lots of play time and love. We appreciate you both!”

About: I have been surrounded by animals my entire life, growing up with dogs and now owning cats as well. Because of this, I have a deep understanding of both canine and feline personalities. I am highly experienced in keeping dogs happy and active through regular walks, engaging playtime, and giving them plenty of love and attention. Because I work from home full-time, my schedule is incredibly flexible, making it very easy to fit pet care into my daily routine. I take regular breaks throughout the day to stretch and go on walks, which is the perfect opportunity to give your dog some exercise and fresh air. When caring for pets in my home, safety and peace of mind are my top priorities. My cats have their own dedicated room and separate space, which allows guest pets to have plenty of room to relax in their own environment without any forced contact. I ensure they have a secure, stress-free setup where they can follow their usual routine, explore safely, and feel completely comfortable at their own pace.
“Kasey was absolutely wonderful! She was able to watch my doggo a bit early due to a change in plans, which I'm super grateful for. I felt very comfortable leaving my doggo with her for sitting, and would definitely recommend her!”

“Sara was great; Everything was handled professionally and with care - a plus that she had her own dog to play with mine, which was important to me when booking; She even left mine with a toy to go - needless to say, my pup left happy with Sara’s care.”

“I'm so glad I found Priscilla. She was able to accommodate a very last-minute booking and I'm so grateful she could help us out. My dog is a little timid and nervous around new people and situations. Priscilla was so patient and kind and my dog did great with her and her two pups. Priscilla was also flexible when our schedule changed, and she kept me updated throughout the day with great communication, which gave me so much peace of mind. I wouldn't hesitate to book with her again, and I highly recommend her.”

About: I have been taking care of pets for years, and I love spending time with all animals. I help friends and family when they are gone on vacations or even close neighbors who need their pets taken care of. I honestly have so much love for animals and believe they are the best friends for hoomans. I lost my old man in 2025, and definitely have a soft spot for the older ones, but enjoy the way puppies have so much energy as well. Whenever I had to leave my little guy with someone I just wanted to trust he was being loved and taken care of as I would if it were me, and that is what I strive to do for all animals I sit/walk for. People want to know their pet is safe and having a good time so they can enjoy their time and not need to worry, and that is my goal. I currently am working from home and have to occasionally meet clients outside of my home. My schedule is very adaptive to being able to walk, feed, play, or whatever is needed. I have a fenced yard and my house is very dog friendly and in my opinion they run the home. That being said if there are rules for your dog I will adhere to them as to not break any training they are currently in or have learned.
“Melinda and her family took the best care of our girl. Riley came back happy and full of love. Melinda was a great communicator and made it a very easy and enjoyable experience. We are already looking forward to the next play date!”

“Robert and Andrea were amazing. I was in the area for the first time for a short period, and they were very welcoming and accommodating. They took Rocky on such short notice and Robert was incredibly patient and understanding when Rocky initially struggled to adjust. Communication was great leading up to the appointment and during, and I really appreciated the photo update- it was reassuring. They made sure he was fed, got him out for a nice walk, and helped him burn off energy. He came back happy and settled—truly appreciate their care. Highly recommend!”

About: Hi! I am Kurt! I will be able to provide your dog with the care and attention he deserves while staying with me. I live with my wife and work full-time from home. Lifetime dog lovers, Candice and I are thrilled when we have the opportunity to meet and care for dogs. Having undergone advanced screening, I have been met in-person by a company rep, and my home has been inspected. I hope you'll reach out to me so we can meet! Why I love dog sitting A lifetime dog lover, I am excited for my home to be a safe place for dogs who need a place to stay. Boarding dogs has all the advantages of a dog (a companion that gives me a reason to stop staring at my screen) without the vet bills. No other pets live in my home. However, I do board multiple guests, so it's important for me to understand how comfortable each guest is sharing space with other dogs. About my yard I have a grassy fully fenced-in backyard, perfect for playing fetch and soaking up some sunshine. I will be happy to have a new canine playmate join me for play sessions running around outside when I need a break from the computer (which is often). My experience administering medication I have no problem administering medication as long as I am given specific instructions. I was raised on a farm and treated cattle, pigs, horses, and dogs with medicines as required and as an adult, I worked as an animal technician so I have experience administering medication in that setting as well. My wife has a degree in animal science and is even more qualified to apply medication. I work full-time from home as does my wife, so frequent breaks outside and plenty of attention is available for your dog. Occasionally I will have errands to run and may ask you to drop-off or pickup while my wife is home, but that's not common and will be communicated to you well in advance. Dogs are allowed unlimited time in my double-fenced back yard, but are not allowed upstairs in the house. At feeding times and other times when I need to isolate dogs, I will place dogs into kennels or pet fences (if I have multiple guests) to make sure nobody gets upset. I have tile floors that many hot dogs prefer to nap on, but also have space for dog beds for chilly dogs or those that prefer a fluffier space. At night I typically place dogs in kennels or pet fences as well to prevent conflict while I am asleep. I work full-time from home and have frequent breaks throughout the day between meetings and phone calls. During those breaks, I'll makes sure everyone gets outside for some fresh air and romping time, feed, apply medicine, or any other tasks that need to happen on a schedule. My wife is available at home almost all hours of almost all days, so she lets dogs in and out the back door as they request, plays tug-o-war, and generally keeps them company. If your dog likes to flop in a lap and get scratches, they'll love her! Every dog has their own needs, energy level, play style, personal space requirements. For some geriatric dogs, I set a timer on my phone and take them outside every hour to give them a chance to do their business so they don't have to hold it too long. For some dogs, I will set up a pet fence in my house to separate them from other guests, or subdivide my yard with a pet fence so they can play "together but separate" from the other dogs. For all dogs, I feed everyone in their own space (a kennel, a pet fence, outside on the patio by themselves, etc) to prevent conflict. I never give treats in a space where two dogs might compete over it. Your dog will only receive the food you send for them, no human food nor sharing with other dogs. For treats, we have homemade biscuits containing oats, pumpkin and egg, please let me know if your dog is allergic to any of that. Or, send your own treats and they'll only get those. For sleeping arrangements, everyone goes in a kennel or a pet-fenced section of the hall so there is no chance of conflict while I'm sleeping. If your dog is particularly sensitive about sharing toys, or reactive to pug-faced dogs, or flips out when they hear a motorcycle, or has any other unique personality trait, please tell me and/or put it on their profile. I will read all their details and do my best to create a comfortable, safe environment for their specific needs.
“Rachel has been fantastic with my Lily! I always worry about her, but I know she's in great hands with Rachel. I particularly appreciate the photos and videos I get while away! It makes a big difference. Thank you Rachel!”
“Virginia is an amazing pet sitter. She truly cares for the animals and the clients she is working with. She follows instructions well and gives updates daily and answers questions or concerns in a timely manner. She gave me peace of mind while I was away. 5 stars.”
“I needed a sitter last minute. And Chong was able to help. She had a fenced back yard which was great and someone was there all day to watch over my Bebe and the other dogs. Which I am appreciative of. Will definitely be scheduling more doggy sits in the future.”

“They were amazing with Moose! We had a last minute need for dog sitting and they were able to accommodate within 30 minutes. We felt quite lucky. They even provided their own leash, water bowl, bed, and treats so we didn’t have to leave his stuff at all. Thank you both!!!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Lake San Marcos
This was my first true experience having a dog sitter and boy did Kayla blow it out of the water. I was extremely nervous finding someone to care for my two golden retrievers, that I’ve had since they were both babies, and finding someone I trusted to watch them was anxiety inducing. Long story short I am in a hotel temporarily with the doggos until our new home is ready and finding care was imperative. After scrolling through some rover profiles, and finding Kayla’s page I sent her a message and we initially did a meet and greet! Phenomenal idea to ensure the doggos get along and for me to know exactly where they’ll be and see the home, etc! My Golden’s were given love and then some more!!! They were even taken out on a field trip to a softball game where they got even more lovings. My Golden’s Rosie & Delilah made amazing friends with Kayla’s Golden, Copper, and overall I couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitting experience and I feel so reassured knowing I now have a trusted, affordable, genuine pup sitter. My babies received immense love from Kayla along with everyone in their family. The children were beyond caring and sweet to the girls and they absolutely adored them. They were with Kayla and her family for 2 full days last week, one for a very important medical appointment that I couldn’t miss. After picking them up the first day I was floored when one of my Goldens ran away from the car as we were getting ready to leave and ran to Kayla’s front door. She had so much fun she did not want to leave!! The second day before leaving I asked if they wanted to go see Kayla and Copper and both of them bounced up and started running around. Thanks a million Kayla, you took so much weight off my shoulders and the updates throughout the day were adorable!!! You’re the best!

Maya was absolutely amazing, not only with diesel but with everything asked of her. My dog is new to our home and is a shelter pup with extreme separation anxiety. She kept me updated all day with information on how his day was going and photos. She did great with handling his walks and keeping him busy. Diesel came home tired after a long, fun day. She was also able to keep up with his high energy and behavior outbursts (he is a 2-year-old German Shepherd). She is extremely sweet and takes care of our pets like her own. I highly recommend her to anyone in the area.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
