“Danielle and Austin were GREAT! This was our first sitting with them for Jamo and he felt so comfortable already. It’s been awhile for outside sitting for our little guy because my dad usually watches him. But dad lives out a little farther so it was nice to find Danielle and Austin so close to us. They provided pic updates on Jamo’s day with the other dogs. Jamo was happy camper when we picked him up. You can tell he was given a lot of love from this very nice family. We’ll be back! Thanks again guys!”
About: I have extensive experience with many breeds and special needs dogs. I adopted and raised Paco, a Dutch Shepherd mix dog who passed away at 14 years old in Feb./2025. I nursed and managed him through 2 ACL surgeries since 2020. I also had a Maltese poodle mix, Bella, who has had both eyes removed due to glaucoma. She lived with Paco for six years and passed away at 15 years old in Oct. 2024. I currently live with Zeus, a mixed breed Dutch Shepherd who I adopted in May 2025. He is 4 years old and is very well socialized with people and other dogs. My residence and boarding location is Carlsbad (Garfield St). I have provided services at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar, the Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa, L'Auberge Del Mar, La Valencia Hotel (La Jolla), Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, and the Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla. Rates: $120 minimum per night UC Irvine MBA / Retired Operations VP I currently take care of of one dog full-time and can board one dog at a time for overnight or day care seven days a week. I have a 600 sq/ft., one bedroom apartment with a fully enclosed and secured outdoor area that is approximately 250 square feet. I use the outdoor area primarily for short term potty breaks, but generally take larger dogs on walks rather than having them go in the outdoor area, to keep this area clean and sanitary.
About: I have been caring for pets since childhood, currently with several regular clients, looking after several cats and walking a dog. I provide regular visits for playtime and ensure pets' environments are clean and free of issues. Let me make you a custom stamped doggy tag! 😃 I am a self-employed entrepreneur residing in the beautiful South Oceanside area, and I am excited to offer my services for daily drop-in visits or leisurely dog walks to accommodate your pet care needs! I have a fenced in back patio, walking distance to the water in South Oceanside. I am happy to drop in at your residence and I’m open to chatting about the best possibilities for your pets care!
“Lynn is amazing! Super quick with communication and was very flexible with my schedule. My pup seemed very content when I picked her up at the end of the day. I also loved that Lynn will reach out with any questions to ensure that the dog is taken care of and comfortable in her home. Would definitely recommend!”

About: I have been housesitting for several years, most especially during covid. I am an Airbnb super host and have an inactive profile on TrustedHousesitters where you can read many of my 5 star reviews. I understand the importance of trust and always send photo updates and any other information throughout the services! I am now housesitting with my young son, and my husband will join us when he can over summer and winter break from teaching. Do let me know how your pets are with kids! We keep a watchful eye on him at all times and he is very experienced with pets. Do not worry about childproofing your home- he is an avid traveler! We have been all over the world- including cruises, Japan, NYC and all over the West coast. This means we have stayed in tiny cabins, crowded cities, taken trains, buses and the subway. We are very used to staying outside our home and comfort space and bring all the tools we need to do so safely. Of course if you have any extreme valuables, those should be put away anyway. I look forward to meeting your furry little ones! I am currently home full time with my son, so we have all day to play with and entertain your pets! We both heart-fully enjoy the cuddles, ball throwing and any outdoor adventures we take them on. Of course, I take full responsibility of the pet and monitor my son at all times. I’ll follow whatever guidelines I am given- whether you want me to continue crate training or sleep with them or follow specific guidelines. My son sleeps in a travel crib, which can be setup in a separate room, so your pets will have me all to themselves! Just share a list of commands they know and I’ll practice those too. I can handle any detailed guidelines if needed- not leaving knives in the sink, not dishwashing certain glassware, making sure doors are closed at all times, and always spot clean your home better than my own. I've even been known to do light handy work when asked very nicely! lol.
About: I love caring for animals and strive to make them as comfortable with me in the home as you are with me being there! I hope to provide exceptional care to both you and your beloved animals. I am cosmetologist working part time, with this schedule I have plenty of free time and can be sure to care for your pet on a regular basis. I want your dog to feel as comfortable as possible and the only way to do so is making sure all of the house rules are followed.
About: Your baby is family here! Lots of love, cuddles and walks. I give constant updates so you can feel safe knowing your pet is in loving care. Special needs, puppies and senior dogs welcome. I'm currently working part-time from home. I rise early to follow your feeding time and then it's time for a long morning walk in my quiet neighborhood. Dog park visits are no charge I can spend my day devoted to your pet! I have a high fenced patio with furniture for sunbathing, with a grass pad for tinkles in between walks. My home is exceptionally clean and I only use pet safe products. I listen to your pets needs and keep them on schedule of your choosing.
About: I have had a dog in my life from the age of 7. Currently I have two dogs who are gentle and used to other dogs. The neighborhood is gated and quiet for daily dog walks. The outside enclosure is small but completely safe. Laminate floors make it an easy clean up if there are any mishaps. I am a retired nurse who creates art at home. Therefore I can attend to your pet with ease. As mentioned above, our patio and outside area is small but safe with six foot fencing . Our dogs have easy access with a medium size screen pet door. If you pet is larger I will be home to let him/her out on a regular basis. Pet care suits my lifestyle as I am a homebody who loves to just hang with my pups while creating art. Living the retired life! My small but fenced secure patio with dog run makes for a safe environment. A walk about or two a day keeps them happy as well!

“Douglas is wonderful! My senior chihuahua can be high maintenance and doesn’t warm up to a lot of people, but was very comfortable with Douglas and had a great day hanging out at his house. I will be using him to dogsit again for sure! Highly recommend.”

“icy absolutely loved her time with Linda! She took icy on a nice long walk and played with her til she’s pooped. Linda’s place is also in a lovely quiet neighborhood. Would highly recommend.”

“Devin is absolutely amazing. She understands the mindset of a puppy and patiently took the time to learn my commands, and used them to continue Gabby's training during her stay. I was really impressed that Gabby walked by my side when she came home the first night. WOW! I will definitely working with Devin in the future. She is a true professional. Thank you :)”

About: I have had my dog Lola for almost 10 years. She is truly my best friend and soul dog. I grew up with dogs, and have cared for them my whole life. Rest assured that I will keep you updated while you are away if you would like, and will create a safe environment for your animal.
About: I have owned a dog for my entire life, and I love the opportunity to make sure that other people’s pets receive the care they need; I genuinely love giving dogs the best life possible. I can handle dogs of any size, and my home is dog-friendly. Whether it’s a short walk or a full-day’s stay, I will make sure your dog is cared for and loved. Please do not hesitate to communicate any special needs, as I want to make sure they are happy and feel comfortable being with someone who is not their owner. I am currently taking a break between career transitions, and Rover is part of how I’m able to make a sustainable living. I have a very flexible schedule to fit care in however is best for you and your pup! I live in a spacious apartment that allows dogs. My husband and I own a duck tolling retriever who is great with other dogs — he gets three walks and at least one off-leash beach or park trip a day, so we are very used to making sure dogs got enough activity. We can crate and keep your dog on leash as needed. FYI - My husband is in some of the pics on my profile as we often care for dogs and our dog together.
About: Your furry family will be in very experienced and caring hands at our home which includes a five foot high fence on a half acre lot. We have been volunteer foster parents for Lab Rescue for several years so have lots of experience caring for various dogs and dog ages. We often care for our friends’ pets so could provide additional references upon request. Our kids are both at college so we are joining Rover to help pay for their college expenses. Look forward to meeting your pups! One of us is always at home or close by, and since we love to walk the property and neighborhood as well as go to dog parks, we are perfect for pampering dogs and providing a safe and active place while you are away! Totally fenced and dog friendly house! We are fine with dogs anywhere in our home. We do have a couple crates if that is preferred, and also have a couple dog doors to contain or separate any dogs as needed.
“We planned a trip to Legoland and were looking for a sitter nearby to watch our dog, Parker, for the day. We were so glad to have found Rachel. She was quick to respond, shared many pics of Parker, had a good size yard for my dog to run around and play with other dogs, and only a few miles away from Legoland. It was a great experience for my dog and would gladly book with her again in the near future.”

About: Hi! My name is Louise and I am a soon to be Genetic Counselor. I moved out to California about a few years ago from NJ. I have always been a dog lover. When I was still in my undergrad, my dog, Lucy, a border collie/german shepherd mix, stayed with me in my dorm as an emotional support animal. I have helped train her as she has grown up (she's 10 now), teaching her commands such as sit, stay, come, lay down, up, paw, high five, speak, and spin. I've also helped train her to walk off leash. While Lucy stayed home with my mom, I recently moved into a townhouse with my own pup, Rory, and she LOVES to have friends over! I’m hoping that we can bring you and your pup the same amount of love and enjoyment that they will inevitably bring us! I can’t wait to meet you both! My weekly routine is variable, as I am a full time graduate student. But I try to accommodate pups the best that I can to keep them happy and healthy. I always keep a close eye on all the pets I’m sitting, as I hope a sitter would with my pup! I know how scary it can be to leave your pup with a stranger!

As a dog owner and a parent, you know when your baby is in good hands and that’s exactly how I felt leaving Luna with Jacqueline. She kept us updated throughout the day with pictures and messages, which gave me so much peace of mind. I truly felt at ease knowing Luna was being cared for and loved. I’m so thankful we found Jacqueline. She was the perfect sitter for Luna, and I wouldn’t hesitate to trust her again. Highly recommend!

Carie took really great care of Wee. She has a fenced yard with grass which is really lovely. I like that she has her own little pup and also does doggy day care so Wee can socialize a little more. Carie was really flexible with my pick up schedule (my flight was incredibly delayed) and she made my life easier by being so amenable. Carie is a great sitter and I will certainly be back!

We’re so happy to have found Colby! We are from out of town and we’re looking for reliable care for our puppy and after coming up short with local boarding options, we found Colby. There is always concern when you leave your pet with a stranger but immediately upon meeting Colby, we were confident in our choice. He is friendly, communicative and has a great place for hosting your dog. As excited as our puppy was to see us when picking up, we could tell our puppy didn’t want to leave. Look no further than Colby, he’s a reliable choice that provides awesome care. Thank you, Colby!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Carlsbad commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
