“Alex took amazing care of my babies, as usual. She is gentle in her approach with them and allows them the space to warm up to her as they are comfortable and ready. It is great knowing they will be well-cared for. Alex creates a worry-free experience for me with her kind and loving care.”

About: Lifelong dog lover. I’m at a stage in life where I cannot have a new pet/dog so I’m offering to help you with yours, so I can get my furry friends fix!!! I’m currently back to school online, refreshing my job skills in order to pick up part time work. So my schedule is pretty flexible for pet care services. Love, safety and dependability are my top priorities when caring for your loved ones. Attention to detail and great communication as well. Thank you in advance for trusting me…
“Justin took care of our beloved dog, Mia, while we were away, and we couldn't be happier with his exceptional service. He went above and beyond our expectations, ensuring that Mia was not only fed but also received plenty of love and attention. We are incredibly grateful for Justin's dedication and care, and we will definitely be booking him again in the future. Thank you, Justin, for your outstanding service!”

About: Hello 👋 I have plenty of time to spend with your furry family members while you’re on vacation or working. I accept dogs up to 40 pounds. Must be non aggressive. I would love to meet and create a bond with your dogs. I just moved from San Diego to stay near family and I am a stay at home mom so I can watch your dogs all day. I have plenty of experience and we had dogs growing up. I am currently taking new clients and I am available on holidays as well. I have plenty of time to spend with your dogs or cats. I am open to boarding up to 2 dogs at the time. I am also open to boarding cats when I don’t have dogs unless both cat and dog come from the same family. I am active and love to go on walks with dogs. I am currently open Monday-Sunday. I don’t have a pet of my own. We have a nice fenced yard and my sister currently dog-sits in the house next to me. We can do a meet and greet so your dog/ cat can get familiar with me before they stay or I do drop in visits at your place.
About: As a big time dog lover, I would love to spend some time taking care of and loving on your fur baby! I have many years of experience with dog ownership, rescue dog fostering, and dog sitting. I also have experience taking care of and training rescue dogs with reactivity or anxiety. I am currently working part-time and have significant capacity to make sure that your pet is well taken care of when you are away. Whether that be providing companionship by relaxing on the couch, or going for a nice long walk or a run at the park or beach. Having used Rover as a dog owner, I know the importance of communication! I will send regular updates with photos of your pup so you know what we are up to and don't have to think twice while you are away. Spending time with dogs is like my own personal therapy and it always makes me feel happy to have a animal friend around. I recently had a long-term foster who I miss dearly, and I would love to have some more dog time in my life. I am currently working in person on Tuesday's and Thursday's and have limited availability those days, but starting in June I will be fully remote and available. I prefer to watch the pet at my home as I have ample space and a big, fenced in backyard for them to play and go potty! I also am open to and have experience with crating dogs for night time or when being left alone if that is prefferred.

About: I’ve taken care and raised many dogs throughout my life, recused older dogs, take in strays, and adopted puppies and kittens. I’m very comfortable around animals and I’ve never met a dog that doesn’t like me. For younger dogs that need more attention I can be there for them, and older dogs who have dietary restrictions I’m keen on that process as well. I’m working Full-time as a surgical assistant but most days I’m off very early so I can be available by 3-3:30 in the evening. I’m free most/all weekends to walk your dog for an hour or so. I’m totally down to stay in home and take care of dogs if that’s needed as well! For most of my life now I have had two jobs. With that, taking care of a dog can become difficult but it’s totally worth it coming home to them and they are so excited to see you. Previously would take my dog out early morning, sometimes on my lunch break, and usually twice in the evening. I make his dog food super extra and add sweet potatoes, egg, a bit of olive oil, and plain yogurt for his coat. My dog is very toy driven so I always have lots of toys for him around. If I’m given clear instruction on your dogs care I’ll make sure he spoiled :)
About: I have owned a dog for my entire life, and I love the opportunity to make sure that other people’s pets receive the care they need; I genuinely love giving dogs the best life possible. I can handle dogs of any size, and my home is dog-friendly. Whether it’s a short walk or a full-day’s stay, I will make sure your dog is cared for and loved. Please do not hesitate to communicate any special needs, as I want to make sure they are happy and feel comfortable being with someone who is not their owner. I am currently taking a break between career transitions, and Rover is part of how I’m able to make a sustainable living. I have a very flexible schedule to fit care in however is best for you and your pup! I live in a spacious apartment that allows dogs. My husband and I own a duck tolling retriever who is great with other dogs — he gets three walks and at least one off-leash beach or park trip a day, so we are very used to making sure dogs got enough activity. We can crate and keep your dog on leash as needed. FYI - My husband is in some of the pics on my profile as we often care for dogs and our dog together.
About: I had my first pet at 9, it was a cat that I loved deeply. Since then I have always had at least 2 animals in my care. I take care of my dads three dogs and two parakeets when he goes out of town. I also watched a variety of pets for neighbors all the time growing up. I have been in charge of feeding schedules, medicine administration, and more. Every day is a little different but every animal gets the attention the require plus a little more regardless of what I’m doing that day. I use pet safe scents in diffusers such as lemongrass for the cats. I also keep all chemicals away and only clean the room the animals are in with a vinegar solution.
“Michael was great with my dog with some playtime and walk time with my dog and he seemed to be happy kept me up-to-date and gave my dog a nice review. Recommend Michael. Will use in the future.”

About: Hi my name is Cynthia and I love all animals! I have been asked by several people to dog sit or walk their dogs over the course of the last 20 years because they know how much I love pets. I love going on walks and experiencing the joy of being around animals. I am very reliable and I promise your pet will feel comfortable while you are way. I know how hard it can be leaving your pet behind or not having the time to take them out for a walk because they are like family and they have a lot of energy. I really hope you will consider me to spend time with your precious pet . I hope your pets and I can have some fun together. I am looking for pet caring opportunities around where I live in Carlsbad Village. I work full time Monday-Friday but would be available for early morning walks before work or evening walks during the weeks and then the weekends I am available for drop in care/walks or pet sitting starting Friday nights to Sundays. Looking forward to hearing from you.
“Aimee was very clear with communication, gave wonderful updates and took extraordinary care of our two kitties over winter holidays. I couldn’t be more thankful for her efforts. Two+ weeks away was not easy to coordinate with family, but with Aimee it was seamless. I only wish we had contacted her for our previous vacations. We came home to very happy cats with lots of toys. Thank you Aimee 💕”

“First time using Rover & Megan was wonderful and made me feel so comfortable that my Lu was in great hands while I was away. I will definitely rebook her for any future needs!”

About: I've cared for pets countless times over the years 🐶, from family to strangers to close friends! I have experience with both calm and reactive dogs, and I’m familiar with common triggers and how to keep them comfortable, happy, and safe on every walk 🦴🐾. I'm a full-time college student 🎓, but my classes are fully remote with no required live lectures, giving me a super flexible schedule! If overnight care is needed, I can easily bring my laptop and get my work done while staying with your pup 🐕💻. There are always foster dogs coming and going in my home 🏠🐾, so I’m used to adapting quickly and staying super attentive to each pup’s unique needs. I’m mindful of my habits and surroundings to make sure accidents don’t happen, even when things could be unpredictable!

Absolutely Amazing Pet Sitter! Raven is everything you could hope for in a pet sitter. From the moment I met her, I knew my cat was in great hands. She didn’t just stop by to feed her—she spent quality time playing, snuggling, and even patiently helping her eat more of her prescription food (which my stubborn kitty isn’t thrilled about right now!). It’s obvious Raven genuinely loves animals and has extensive experience caring for them. I felt 100% comfortable leaving my baby with her and came home to a happy, well-loved cat. 10/10 — I would absolutely recommend Raven to anyone looking for exceptional pet care!

Ashleigh was great with Kit! I had a a work project over the holiday weekend that prevented me from returning home until late evening. It eased my mind knowing Ashleigh was stopping in to spend some time with and feeding my cat during the day. I recommend her and would hire her again:) Also , Ashleigh takes great photos!

Cynthia has been the best pet sitter ever. She has provided consistent care, love, and support for our dogs. During a recent dog walk, there was a rare encounter with Coyotes. Cynthia’s quick thinking kept our pups safe. We are thankful for her and fully appreciate her service and support!

Elle was so amazing! She took great care of my corgi, Titan, while I couldn’t be with him, and she was so easy to work with! She was kind, timely, and good with Titan, and she always left me with good reports, pictures/videos, and texted me if she ran into problems. Titan was thrilled to get to play with her, and she made him feel at home during my absence. I would absolutely hire her again! 😀

Luna is amazing!!!! I had a last minute family emergency and needed her to watch my cat for a few days and then ended up having to stay with my family longer and she had no problem accommodating and continuing to check in on my sweet Jojo. She sent me pictures and videos and my sweet baby looked so happy each time Luna came, I know she was treated with so much love and care I am SO thankful for Luna!!

Book this young lady, she is so good! My cat, Buddy, is very wary of strangers, especially if I’m gone, but it took only a short time for Buddy to warm up to Samantha. She was so patient with him and did not push him to come out of his hiding spot until he was ready. He did not miss a meal because of that patience. Within a short time, he was being very loving with her, which made me happy. She is punctual communicative and extremely reliable. Book her!

Absolutely fantastic drop in sitter for my cat. 100% recommend & she will remain my #1 choice when I go out of town. Her professionalism was my first impression. When she came to my apartment to get the key and meet my cat, she brought a notebook to keep track of all the info she needed to remember. My cat also decided it would be "funny" to play a game of hide & seek in my house while I was away. Victoria genuinely cared enough to check everywhere (including with neighbors) & even changed her schedule to find her just in case my cat had become lost outdoors. She notified me quickly about the situation and was fully transparent about what had happened. (Thankfully, my girl eventually came out of hiding when her name was called!) There are not enough genuine and trustworthy people in the world whom you could trust with your beloved pet but Victoria certainly is one of them!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Carlsbad. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
