“Tiffany was so responsive and reassuring. My husband and I had to work away from home for the day and Tiffany showed up for us last minute when we needed someone to check in on our new puppy. She was so helpful, reassuring, flexible and communicative to ease my anxiety when leaving our sweet pup. We would definitely rebook Tiffany again!! Thank you Tiffany!!”

About: I worked with our local vet in my 20s. I have handled every kind of dog. Great with medication. Great with high energy or aggressive dogs. Tons of patience. I currently work part time, so can pet sit or visit several times a day. I can stay for a week or more as needed. I can pet sit in your home, visit 3x per day or stay over. I am not able to board at this time. Great with instructions and medications. I keep my prices low because I love dogs! When I can't visit, I look for humane societies so I can drop in 😄
About: Dogs have always been a huge part of my life and caring for them is something I genuinely love!! I previously worked at an emergency and specialty hospital for animals where I gained experience caring for dogs with a wide variety of personalities, needs, and temperaments. That experience taught me how important patience, attentiveness, and understanding are when caring for someone’s pet. I’m comfortable around young, energetic, nervous, shy, senior, and high-maintenance dogs. I’m very attentive to changes in behavior or anything that may indicate a pet isn’t feeling like themselves. I understand that every dog has their own routine and personality, and I’m happy to follow their usual schedule and give them the individual attention they’re used to. Most importantly, I treat every dog in my care like they’re my own. I want both pets and their owners to feel comfortable, safe, and cared for while they’re apart. I currently work a part time job at a restaurant in downtown Oceanside and my shifts are only up to 5 hours at a time. So I have a pretty flexible schedule that can be easy to work around! When caring for pets in their own home, my goal is to keep them comfortable and maintain the routine they’re already familiar with. I’ll take the time to learn their normal feeding schedule, walk and potty routine, personality, preferences, and any special instructions from their owner. I’ll provide plenty of attention, playtime, walks, cuddles, and companionship while making sure they’re safe and comfortable in their own space. I’m also very attentive to changes in behavior or anything that seems unusual, and I’ll keep owners updated with photos and messages so they can feel reassured while they’re away. I want your pets to feel like they’re spending time with someone they can trust, rather than simply being checked on while you’re gone!
About: When I’m not fostering pups, I’m caring for dogs through Rover! Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I truly love giving them the care, attention, and patience they deserve. Whether your dog is a playful puppy or a sweet senior, I have experience with dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. I take the time to get to know each pup’s unique needs and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. My goal is to treat every dog like they’re part of my own family. I have an extremely flexible schedule and can be with your pup majority of the day. I am available weekdays and weekends and can accommodate to your schedule if needed! I have a fenced in small back yard, but many walking paths and parks near by! We do not have any other pets in the household, so your pup will be receiving one on one care while in a calm and relaxing environment.
“Thanks so much Audrey for a really great set of visits to take care of our dog and fish!! The pets were in a really great mood when we returned and I could tell that they were well loved and cared for!! Thanks so much for your time and attention to make sure they were well taken care of and thanks for the frequent updates and photos !!”

About: I have been around animals my entire life, growing up with family dogs and now loving and caring for my own cat. Over the past few years, I have regularly house sat and dog sat for friends and neighbors, handling everything from feeding schedules to long walks. I am deeply comfortable with dogs of all breeds and sizes, and I specialize in giving high-energy dogs the active exercise, walks, or runs they need while keeping their owners' homes perfectly clean and secure. I work a standard daytime schedule during the week, so my availability is tailored for dedicated weekend care and weekday evening visits. For house sitting, I am fully available to stay at your home from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. For walks and drop-ins, I am available anytime on weekends and starting at 6 PM on weekdays. This allows me to give your pet my undivided attention when I am on the clock. Your pet’s safety and the security of your home are my top priorities. Having base access means I have passed rigorous background checks, bringing an extra layer of trust and reliability to every booking. I am incredibly respectful of your living space and will always leave it exactly as I found it. During our first Meet & Greet, we will walk through your pet's specific safety routines, emergency contacts, and home security preferences so you can travel with complete peace of mind. I also provide frequent photo and text updates so you always know your pet is happy and safe.
“Zsana is amazing and we are so grateful to have found her! She was wonderfully flexible and accommodating, working around our changing travel schedule. She truly goes above and beyond — giving the best care and attention to our dogs. We feel so lucky to have someone this trustworthy and kind looking after them while we were away. Can’t thank her enough and will absolutely be booking again!””

About: As long as I can remember I have always loved animals. As I’ve aged I’ve come to like bugs and reptiles too! Over the past year friends and family have requested I watch over their furry family and I’ve happily obliged. I have some experience with reactive dogs (ability to read their body language, having a calm energy and meeting them where they are). My experience has covered, a newer kitten with a special diet, a multi-cat home + dog and a senior cat with special medication requirements. I also am a pet parent to a small dog whom I adore. Since I work part-time, my schedule is pretty flexible, allowing me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to your pets. Currently, I only house-sit on days I do not work out of home, so my priority is you furry family. I’m pretty flexible depending on each individual pets needs. Whether it’s a walk, drop-in visit, or overnight stay, my priority is making sure they feel comfortable, cared for, and as relaxed as possible while you’re away. I’m happy to accommodate your pet’s usual routine and will follow feeding schedules, medication instructions, and any special requests exactly as provided.
About: I have cared for pets since I was a young child. My life wouldn’t be complete without them. I’ve owned, fostered, and now sit for all kinds of pets. We have a room set aside for acclimating them, and a large fenced backyard for them to wander around. I care for your pets as though they were my own. While being a stay at home with my two littles, I have lots of time to play, watch, walk, and more. We are always happy to share our home or let your family run around the fenced in backyard. We have a small kitten that is half in and half outside so we can always accommodate. There is a great walking path for us or running around in the backyard.
About: My husband has taken care of dogs since he was 5. We adopted a cute bichon in 2022, and he is so friendly and adorable. We want to make him more friends. Please let me know if you need a dog sitter. We are flexible throughout the week and can have at least one of us at home. We have a dog park nearby, and we can walk your dog as much as you love to. We also have a cute doggo at home, and they can play with each other! We have a bichon that lives his best life as we are flexible with working remotely and regularly take him on walks around the parks. I have a bichon in a townhouse that is quiet and nice to walk around with the dogs. We have a small yard area and lots of greenery in the front.
“Shalaja was a very professional, friendly, and communicative sitter. My cat is very shy and hides around strangers, but Shalaja still managed to take photo updates of her each day. She also brought packages in from outside. I'll definitely book her again for my next trip!”

About: Hi, I’m Sammi, a pet lover in North SD who lost my 18-year-old schnauzer in 2021 and has been pouring that same love into every pet I care for. We’re home all day, 7 days a week, so your fur baby will always have company, enjoy three walks daily, and get a paw wipe after every walk. Your dog’s safety and comfort come first, a double-door entry keeps them secure, no resident pets or kids means zero stress, and 18 years of experience means we treat every pup like our own.
“Justin is fantastic! He is SO thorough and thoughtful. My girl Pickle is a puppy, and he sent multiple photos of her, gave detailed notes, and even gave updates on how she was doing with some commands he was working on with her. If you want someone who’s got great experience and will care for your pup like they’re his own, Justin is it. I will definitely use Justin again in the future and hope to become a regular client of his!”

“Olivia was wonderful! I could tell right away that she took great care of my boys and kept everything so clean. I know my cats can make quite a mess around their food and litter every day, so coming home to those areas spotless was such a nice surprise! She was very punctual, and I loved receiving their little daily report cards and photos. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing they were in good hands while we were away. I will definitely hire Olivia again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - San Luis Rey
Rachel was fantastic with Emma! She took such amazing care of her while we were away and went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of. She was incredibly accommodating, helpful, and kept us updated on Emma every single day, which gave us so much peace of mind. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend Rachel to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter!

Olivia was wonderful! I will definitely hire Olivia again!

Jessica was amazing! She took such great care of Berries and sent us lots of updates and pictures. You can definitely tell how much she loves dogs—my puppy loved her from day one! I was very anxious about leaving my puppy with someone else, but after meeting Jessica, I felt so relieved and knew Berries was in good hands. Thank you so much for taking such great care of Berries! :)

Jenna was absolutely wonderful! This was my second time booking her, and she took such great care of my three cats for three weeks while I was away. I felt completely at ease knowing they were in such good hands. She sent me lots of pictures and updates every day, which I loved, and it was obvious from the photos that my kitties were happy, comfortable, and really enjoyed their time with her. She was attentive, reliable, and genuinely caring—even giving them brushies, Churus, and some outdoor patio time. 🥰 It meant so much to me to be able to enjoy my trip without worrying about them. I’m so grateful to Jenna and will absolutely continue booking her whenever I need a sitter. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone they can truly trust with their fur babies! ❤️🐾

First time for us using rover but needed someone to take check in on our dog during our short 4 day trip. We were nervous about having a stranger come over to feed our indoor dog. Makenna made this service very easy. She was very responsive and made us feel comfortable every step of the way. She even brought in some Amazon packages for us and went out of her way to shut off a water hose we left running (by accident). We were very thankful to have found both rover and Makenna. Would for sure hire her again (and already planning on it next month). Highly recommend

Mary is a wonderful choice for a pet sitter. She took great care of my senior cat. My cat is usually pretty shy, but she instantly warmed up to Mary, and I received several lovely photos of my cat playing and getting some loving attention. I look forward to rebooking with Mary, and I would recommend her to anyone!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
