“Linda was an amazing cat sitter. She has an extremely calming presence about her. Our usually very shy cat who tends to run away from strangers was instantly at ease with her and instantly liked her. She sent many many pictures every visit and told us everything that was going on with the cats. We will definitely rebook her!”

“I’m very pleased with the way she cared for my 2 girls, it showed. Great communicator, punctual on time, and I loved seeing my dog’s pictures while away. Made me feel at peace. I will definitely book her again. Thank you, glad I booked her!!!”

“Saron was absolutely amazing! She watched my fur babies during my wedding & was extremely dependable, great with communication, and professional. I would recommend her to anyone in the area!”

“Sarah was absolutely wonderful with my animals. I loved reading her note visits and seeing her photos because it was obvious she spent time with my animals and really got to know them. I usually stress out when I am away from my animals but I had the best vacation knowing Sarah was there taking care of them. I couldn’t recommend her more. Thank you Sarah!!!!! Blue and Wrigley can’t wait for me to go away again ?!”

“We had such a great experience with Sean. He took wonderful care of our two dogs while we were away, and it was so nice being able to relax and not worry about how things were going at home. Sean was always on time, dependable, and left great updates and notes after each visit, which gave us total peace of mind. We would absolutely book again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for someone reliable and caring for their pets.”

“Samantha was amazing once again! Her communication is so awesome and she was able to accommodate me having to extend my trip by a day. She loves my baby like her own and takes the best care! Thanks Samantha!”
About: I've had dogs and taken care of dogs since I was a kid. I'm retired now, and I have all the time in the world to hang out with yours! I'm retired, with nothing to distract me from taking care of your pet. I have a nice yard to entertain your dog during the day, or I can come over and hang out with your pet. Either way, I'm your guy! I have a fenced yard and all the time in the world to hang out with or entertain your pet at my house or yours.
About: I’ve been pet-sitting for my neighbor for more than 18 years and I even have experience raising puppies for Canine Companions for Independence. I was also a dog walker for a brief time as well. I’m currently looking for a job, so I will have plenty of time to dog/cat-sit in the afternoons and some late mornings. I’m hoping this will lead to some good opportunities. I have a fenced good-sized backyard with a dog-run and a big hill to run around. I don’t have a crate at the moment, so you will have to provide your own.
“Nick was awesome with our girls! They both instantly took to him. We really appreciated him making time last minute, too. We’re looking forward to having him housesit for us, too!”

About: Over the 15 years I’ve been house sitting professionally, I’ve had the pleasure of caring for puppies to sr. dogs, kittens to sr. cats, lizards, fish, birds, and even farm animals. My goal when I care for your pet is to keep your pet in the routine to which they are accustomed. That means I follow your written instructions, as far their feeding time, walk time, etc. Though, I also want your vacation to feel like a staycation for your pet. That means I’m going to have fun with them whether that means giving them belly rubs, playing fetch with them or playing other fun games with them. Also, please note that you can hire me for overnights, dog walks, or both. So, my price for overnight stays is to stay in your home and care for your pet, but dog walking is separate from overnight stays. During my stay, as much as I will care for you pet(s), I will also care for your home. I’m happy to water any plants, bring in any deliveries/mail, take out the trash and other light chores (I won’t mow your lawn). I work for myself writing online content for people, so my work goes where I go. The only thing I ask is that you have an Internet connection and someplace where I can set up my computer. As far as caring for pets in my home, I am only able to board certain breeds of dogs, and that is contingent on the permission of the homeowner. I am unable to care for cats in my home, but I would be able to come to your home.. In general, I always care for your pet according to your schedule and preference. And I am always sure to adjust my schedule according to the schedule you set for me to ensure your pet receives optimal care. But the key to pet sitting is to emulate the routine to which the dog is already accustomed. My goal is that when you go on vacation your pet(s) will feel like they're on a staycation. Also, please note while I charge $65 per day, I charge separately for walks ($20 per walk). For pets that do not require walks (cats, sr. dogs, etc), I charge $75 a day.
About: I have been caring for animals for 45 years! I'm a certified master groomer and trainer. I thank God everyday for our animals! I can't imagine life without them! Rest assured your pet will be well cared for while staying with me. I am typically home caring for animals 24/7. In addition to boarding dogs and cats, I have a grooming facility on my property. I have lots of experience with all types of dogs and cats. My property is 10 acres and is completely fenced. I have indoor and outdoor (covered) kennels. The small dogs stay inside my home, while the large dogs stay inside and out. In addition, I have a grooming facility that has crates for the animals that prefer to be crated and/or if they don't get along with other animals. I have 6 outdoor large runs, that has an attached play area that is fenced with 12 foot fencing. All animals are walked ( on leash) around the property twice a day, as part of there stay. I have experience with all types of dogs and cats, including the different personalities.
About: I have been trusted by friends and family to pet sit the past 3 years. I love all animals the same and have owned multiple pets my whole life. I am working part time and college part time with a flexible afternoon schedule. Mornings on Friday-Sundays are always great and give me lots of free time. I have a secure fenced in backyard with chickens separated to the side. We have a dog crate inside. At this time I do not offer boarding while I am trying to train my puppy.
About: I’ve been caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities for over 10 years. Friends, neighbors, and family have trusted me to walk, feed, bathe, administer basic medications, and provide loving companionship. I’m comfortable with puppies, senior dogs, high-energy pups, and pets who need a little extra patience or reassurance. I truly enjoy building trust with all animals and making sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while their families are away. Pet care is already a daily part of my life. I care for my own pets every day, including chickens, so I’m very comfortable with routines, feeding schedules, and responsibility. I’m currently a nursing student working toward my BSN, which means my schedule can vary. At this time, I’m most consistently available on weekends, with early mornings annd mid day during the week. I’m flexible and open to working with pet parents’ schedules whenever possible, and if a request is something I can make work, I’m always willing to make time to ensure pets receive attentive, reliable care. Pets are truly family to me, not just animals. I care for my own pets daily and understand the trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else’s care. In both my home and a client’s home, I follow routines closely, keep environments clean and secure, and prioritize comfort and safety. I’m attentive to behavior, feeding schedules, and individual needs, making sure each pet feels loved, respected, and stress-free.

About: I’ve looked after neighbors dogs and family friends dogs for years. I’m knowledgeable in canine body language so I can read their comfort levels and ensure they aren’t getting overwhelmed. I am very proficient in bathing dogs, I get dogs with double coats deshed and curly coated dogs brushed out. I am currently working part time at a dog grooming facility, but I have few hours. I would have plenty of time to play or lounge with your pups depending on their needs. If your dog is low energy, I would be more than happy to just hang out and play low impact games with them. For my high energy buddies, I would be happy to (with pet parent permission) take them on a trail hike or play ball.

About: I began caring for dogs at a young age and have experience with a variety of breeds, ages, temperaments, diets, and care needs. I understand that every dog is different, and I take the time to learn each pet's routine, personality, and preferences to help them feel safe and comfortable while you're away. I pride myself on being reliable, attentive, and communicative, and I treat every dog as if they were my own. Whether your pup loves long walks, extra playtime, lots of cuddles, or simply sticking to a familiar routine, I'm happy to accommodate their needs. I can't wait to meet your furry friend! Pet care fits seamlessly into my routine because I work fully remotely and maintain a flexible schedule. This allows me to provide plenty of attention, companionship, walks, playtime, and care throughout the day rather than leaving pets alone for extended periods. I am available on weekdays, weekends, and for long-term stays, and I enjoy building my schedule around making sure pets feel comfortable, happy, and well cared for. I always follow the owner's instructions closely to maintain a pet's normal routine and provide consistency while they're away. This includes feeding schedules, exercise routines, medications, crate training, house rules, and any special care requirements. In both my home and a client's home, I prioritize safety, cleanliness, exercise, affection, and plenty of supervision. I make sure pets receive the attention, enrichment, and care they need while keeping owners updated with regular messages and photos for peace of mind.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Winterwarm
We had such a great experience with Sean. He took wonderful care of our two dogs while we were away, and it was so nice being able to relax and not worry about how things were going at home. Sean was always on time, dependable, and left great updates and notes after each visit, which gave us total peace of mind. We would absolutely book again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for someone reliable and caring for their pets.

Samantha was amazing with our dog! He has a lot of anxiety being alone. We were on vacation and needed someone to watch him for a couple of hours. We were worried about him being in an unfamiliar place with an unfamiliar person. As soon as we met Samantha, we knew it would be okay. She is a calm and loving person and set us and our dog at ease right away. She was attentive and patient with our dog while he worked through his anxiety. She gave us frequent updates and responded quickly every time we checked in. We would definitely hire her again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
